How can i make iMovie -- iDVD quality better??

I have search about the idvd quality in this site but i can't solve my problem yet.
I had a sony DV cam which is PC3, Pal. And I use the imovie..import...edit, then use "share" to idvd...then burn...
So I play the finished DVD in a DVD player, i find many many pixels, the quality of the DVD movie inside is like a VCD. In fact, my DV cam is not the lastest and fine quality, but i surpose the DVD movie should be same quality as my DV cam.
So I use another method to test whether my DV cam....(is model too old, something wrong with my DVcam...)
(1) In imovie, use "share" to my DV cam tape
(2) then i use another converter which is borrow from my friend, is like a DVD burner and player. which can convert the DV tape or VHS...directly convert and save in a DVD disc.
(3) after burning the file. the quality is fine, just like what i shoot from my DV cam.
So what's the problem?? Is the convertor between imovie and idvd not good enough??
Or I need to use other methods? for example, use the imovie export a quicktime movie, then use the toaster make the DVD or VCD is better ?
How can i make it better??

select Quicktime and sele4ct full-quality
That is an option, too, but I use that only when troubleshooting.
iMovie automatically creates a reference movie when it saves at iMovie_project/Shared Movies/iDVD/*.mov. Using the ref.mov instead of a full quality export saves time and HD space.
iMovie sends that ref.mov to iDVD when you press the "Create iDVD project" in iMovie's iDVD tab. BUT: DON'T let iMovie render still images if it prompts it: as a very old nasty bug, it will ruin your stills!!
http://www.sjoki.uta.fi/~shmhav/iMovieHD_bugs.html#jaggystills
...how I wish Apple would finally fix that bug...
You can also use that ref.mov as an input for 3rd party apps. MPEG Streamclip and JES Deinterlacer can "see" it inside the package but with some other apps you may need to copy it out of the package 1st.
Notice also that some 3rd party apps (MPEG Streamclip and JES Deinterlacer do this correctly) may unexpectedly honor the deinterlaced playback setting of the ref.mov so you must uncheck that flag with QT Player before using it as in input. Otherwise the output will be deinterlaced.

  • TS4293 How can I make iMovie to show me the AVCHD files importet by iPhoto?

My iMovie 11 shows the videos from my iPhone importet by iPhoto, but not all the videos importet the same way from my camera. It works fine with the videos recorded in MP4 but not at all with the AVCHD. How can I make iMovie to show me the AVCHD files? iPhoto imports and shows the AVCHD fine. Also I could import the AVCHD files with iMovie but then they would be twice on my computer and use a  lot of space.
    thanks for your help

Right now, iMovie won't edit AVCHD wrapped files. You have a few options:
    1. Import the videos with iMovie. Afterwards, you may add the imported movies to iPhoto if you want.
    2. Import the videos with another app. (Too numerous to mention.)
    3. Convert the videos with a third-party tool.
    4. Wait for a future version of iMovie that adds this capability.

I don't know about NTSC but there is a nice PAL solution for SD 16:9 for ordinary DVDs. The 16:9 image becomes 720x576 pixels. So the pixels are each quite wide, and the horizontal resolution is less than the vertical resolution, but at least no pixels are wasted as with letterbox.
A semi-solution is to make a HD-DVD. That format has been abandoned but Apple software pretends otherwise. Apple Compressor does compressions at around 20 Megabits/second data rate specifically for HD-DVD, and Apple DVD Studio Pro makes HD-DVDs. For short projects, less than around 30 minutes, the HD-DVD can be made on a normal DVD. (I did this for a 40 minute project by cutting the bitrate somewhat.) The quality is almost equal to Blu-Ray, but who can play it? People with well equipped Apples can.

  • How can we make an iDVD with Aperture movie

I have tried all the suggesgions so far and still am unable to make a proper DVD using Aperture and iDVD. "A" DVD can be created, however the customer must press the enter key twice to step into the main program. This does not appear to be a normal metod or is it ? This what has happened so far; The Aperture movies was created with 208 photo's and fur songs integrated into it. Exported to Apple TV 720 resolution saved to the desktop. When completed, iDVD was opened. Create a new project or Open an existing Project will not allow iDVD to open the movie file. Exporting as a Slideshow will Also Not allow iDVD to open this file either. The only option seems to be to use Magic iDVD. Uing this and then dragging/dropping the desktop movie file results in having to depress the Play button twice to actually play the movie. I have saved the screenshots but it seems I cannot drag them here. It seems the movie is imported twice ? When one looks at the inspector yet they are not exactly the same. Should one remove either of the Blue blocks then the result is a failure. I'll try to drag that shot here..

Is this how the Aperture and iDVD should work together ? If so it's certainly diferent from iPhoto and iDVD combo..

Ok so you didn;t answer the what theme question and the menu or straight play question but I do know your ****** off
    This is for no menu:
    open iDVD
    select File->New
Make and name the new project
    Select the triangle icon
Drag the slideshow movie to the place that says drag movie here
Clcik the disclosure triaangle under the fist box.
Clcik play arrow iDVD project will start up and your slideshow will start playing.

  • How can I make iMovie use my external HD for projects instead of my Internal HD?

I only have a 250GB internal HD and using iMovie can take up a lot of space. I moved all my movie files to an external HD, but when I start up iMovie none of them show up. I have to import them back which places it on my internal HD and I really don't have much space so I can't do anymore projects. Can anyone help me? I am using version 7.1.4 .

With version 7.1.4 of iMovie, you must keep your projects on the startup drive. However, the Events contain the large files, and can be moved to the external drive.
You must move the Events from within iMovie. Click VIEW/EVENTS BY VOLUME. This will show you alll your properly formatted drives that are available. (The external drive must be formatted as Mac OS Extended (journaled). Then, in the Event  Library, you can drag and drop the small icons for the Events to the small icon for the drive in the Event Library List along the left side.
If you need to move Projects also, you should upgrade to iMovie 11. It is available in the Mac App Store for about $15.
Another note: In iMovie 7.1.4, you can move Events by dragging. However, in iMovie 8.06 (iMovie 09) and iMovie 9.0.4 (iMovie 11), drag and drop will copy. You have to hold down the Command Key while dragging to move rather than copy.

  • Best and Worst Apple Keyboard or How can I make a white one better?

I really love the black extended keyboard that came with my quick silver.
I replaced my tiny (non extended) G4 keyboard with the black extended keyboard that originally shipped with the quick silvers. Still fine after 5 years of daily use.
The new white keyboard's open design allows dust and foreign objects to get under the keys. After 2 years, It has a terrible key feel and I find myself making many more typing mistakes when using it.
Is there a recommended method to REHAB the keys? I've taken to blowing the dust out every 4-5 months. Is there a silicone spray or something that will get the keys to push down smoothly?
If I were to get another keyboard, what would you say is apples best?
BTW, I typed this on a white KB so please excuse any errors

I actually like the extra "unnecessary" plastic at the top as a convenient place to store pens/pencils. The USB ports on the side of the black are easier to access than the rear located ports on the white. I see only one advantage to the whites in that they squeezed in the F16 key. To use it in a production mode like I do, the touch and accuracy are poor.
Any lube or cleaning tips? I'm not talking about the surface of the keys. I need to clean the inner surfaces where the plastic keys rub the plastic housing. For instance, right now, the pressure required to push the space key is ridiculous. Look thru the edge of your keyboard and see how much crud is built up under the springs of the space key, enter key and shift key. The unprotected openings between the keypad, arrows pad and number pad allow the dust to get in there. Very poor design coming from a company who used to pride themselves on design and ergonomics.

  • 3D bar charts export as jagged PDFs - how can I make them smooth?

I want to export my 3D bar charts as PDFs, but they export without anti-aliasing or smooth vector lines. The bars are jaggy, not clean. How can I make them higher quality?
I've checked my system settings and those in Acrobat 7 Professional, the 'smoothing' is turned on. I can't find any similar posts here either.
    Any ideas?

  • How can I make a still photo from imovie

How can I make a still photo from imovie?

Let's assume you have iMovie 11 (Version 9). (If you have a different version, let me know. The instructions will be different.)
First, get an app called MPEG Streamclip, which is free. (google MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5)
    Open MPEG Streamclip.
In iMovie, select the clip you need. Then, right-click/Reveal in Finder.
Drag this clip into MPEG Streamclip
In MPEG Streamclip, move the playhead to the frame you want.
In MPEG Streamclip, click FILE/EXPORT FRAME.
Choose JPEG, TIFF, or PNG and give it a name.
You can then drag this photo into iPhoto.
I have created a short video Tutorial on how to do this. There is one error in the Tutorial, where it says that Command-click is the same as right-click. I should have said Control-click instead.

This is determined by your carrier. SMS/MMS is a poor man's email and by that I mean SMS/MMS has major restrictions and limitations compared to email but is a cash cow for cell phone carriers.
Upload the video to YouTube when connected via wifi and send the YouTube link via text.

  • How can I make chaptgers with in Chapters

Hi, I was wondering how can I make a chapter within a chapter. Maybe that sounds funny. What I want to do is back up some old video tapes that have some old shows on them. Like for example, I want to make dvd with some old 3 stooges on em for my dad. For each episode, I was thinking, I was thinking of breaking them up a bit, so you can do scene selection faster. However, I don't want them as seperate chapters so when your in the dvd menu and go to scene selection and have all whole bunch of chapters, I would rather have just the episodes. Like I know we have some bought dvds of threes company and you can select which episode you want to watch and when you watching it and you press like the chapter button or next scene goes to where a commercial would have ended. I thought bookmarks would do it but I was way off on that one. Or is this a thing you do with DVD pro.
    Nathan

    Hi, Nathan,
I haven't done this myself, but I know you can have submenus of submenus and you can probably create this type of 'nesting' chapters by placing chapter markers in iMovie, and then making the menus and submenus in iDVD.

  • How can I make an iPhoto slideshow into a DVD in Lion?

How can I make an iPhoto slideshow into a DVD in Lion?

If you MacBook Pro came with Lion preinstalled then you will not have a copy of iDVD.  That's because iDVD and iWeb have been discontinued by Apple and is not longer being included in iLife.
You can purchase a copy from Amazon.com: iLive 11.
If you do have Lion this post will self destruct in 10, 9, 8... seconds and you can follow Terence's directionsl
    As for iDVD the following is a recommended workflow to follow;
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • I exported a iphoto slideshow to desktop, converted it to mpg file by using BURN app, burned to DVD and exported to a USB flashdrive. The DVD looks great but flashdrive is extremely fuzzy. What is the difference and how can I make flashdrive sharper?

I exported an iphoto slideshow to desktop, converted it to mpg file by using the BURN app, burned it to a DVD and exported it to a USB flash drive. The DVD looks great and very sharp but the slideshow on the USB flash drive is extremely fuzzy. What is the difference and how can I make the slideshow on the flash drive look as sharp as the DVD?

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.

If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
