How can I make my iweb website high contrast?

Hello,
High contrast websites seems to become the standard.
Are there ways to improve iweb with a high contrast option?
My website is clean white with text only, but now compared with high res templates white looks grey.
Anybody any ideas?
Many thanks
Rene

The inbuilt facility to do this disappeared with the demise of MobileMe. It is possible: some ISPs offer this facility (GoDaddy is one) so you should start by checking whether yours does.
If not, you can do it yourself provided your ISP allows you to add an .htaccess file to your foldere - not all do. Also it's not entirely straighforward if you are unfamiliar with the techniques involved.
This page describes the method:

Please note the caveats at the bottom of the page: this isn't a highly secure method and you should not rely on it to protect sensitive information.

You need to be a little clearer in what you're asking.
You can't make any web site in SQL Server - it's a database engine, not a website tool.
What you can do is create web sites that pull data from a back-end SQL Server, but the SQL server doesn't handle the client connection at all (that's handled by a web server such as Apache, IIS, or similar).
There are many ways to build such a site including .NET, PHP, Perl and more (although I don't know all the options for Windows servers because they're not as common outside of corporate/enterprise networks).
In either case, given your choice of development language (HTML, plus one of the PHP/Perl/.NET/etc. options), plus your database (SQL Server) plus your web server (IIS, Apache, etc.) you can make any web site you like (or, at least, you're capable of developing).
If you want to opimize that web site for iPhones then there are many references on how mobile browsing differs from the desktop. I'd recommend this book as a reference (and, yes, I understand the irony of linking to a paperback book for web design guidance ). Googling mobile web design (or iPhone web design) might yield more results.

  • How do I make multiple iWeb websites without them turning into one?

I made a website with no problems with iWeb. I published it to a folder and uploaded it to my domain host with no problems.
I wanted to make a new, separate stand-alone website with iWeb but I could find no way to do that. When I go to FILE and NEW SITE, it places that in the list of my other website. I created that new site, published it to a new folder, and the two websites became one large one!
I thought iWeb was like MS Word in terms of one program making an indefinite number of independent websites.
    How can I do this?
    Thanks.

You can certainly use it for general design if it
meets your needs. Its sites can be put on any server
and the different "sites" in the organizer have
distinct urls regardless of where you put them.
Not sure what you mean here. I think you are equating
distinct URL's with distinct Web-Sites. I'm pretty sure most
people wouldn't interpret things that way. By "site" most
people mean just the part after the "://" and before the
next "/". Like www.apple.com is a different site from
    www.google.com not www.apple.com/developer is
one site and www.apple.com/discussions is another.
    When
you upload from a folder via ftp you can upload only
    one site it you want,
That is true. Just because iWeb writes everything
out doesn't mean one has to upload it all. Just takes
a little longer to generate the site. That is a good
    workaround.
and you can keep site data
totally separate by using different user accounts or
different Domain files. Here are some tips for other
    servers:
    http://homepage.mac.com/thgewecke/iwebserver.html
I had a look at this page and think those suggestions are
interesting but not really for me. I'm neither a Web Designer
nor a Deployment Engineer, and mostly only use the iPhoto
publish to homepage feature. I'm just can't get that motivated
about my personal web site. Maybe I'll check out homepage
    again.

  • How can I use the Windows 7 high contrast theme with CS6?

I prefer using a high contrast theme in Windows, as I find it reduces eye strain, unfortunately these themes don't work in InDesign CS6 (i've tested Illustrator, Dreamweaver and PS and they seem to handle the high contrast theme ok, but this forum doesn't quite like it either, but that could just be because I'm forced to use IE at work here)
Any text within dialogue boxes is black, and the toolbars and windows are pretty much unusable too.
Is there any way around this issue?

I see the same thing using a High Contrast theme. I think you're in uncharted territory here as far as what's been discussed previously on the forum, but maybe one of our other users also is a high contrast aficianado and has figured something out.

  • Can i make an iweb website without a .mac account?

So my 30 year old friend is asking me to make a website for his carwash. I can make it and everything, but i'm only 12, and i dont want it running though my parents .mac account. Is there any way of having the website and publishing directly on a domain name, without having it run through my .mac?

Yes. Build it normally, and then publish it to an FTP server or to a folder depending on the instructions provided by the organization hosting the site.

  • How can I make an updatable website using Adobe?

    Hello,
I am looking to create a website to host my YouTube videos, photographs, other information and a blog, and possibly an online store in the future. I don't know where to begin with this because I'm not sure how easy websites are to update once they have been uploaded (unless you use an online website maker).
Could someone please advise me on what software I should use (I have created a business website for someone using Muse in the past but it doesn't need regular updating), and also how I should have the website hosted?
    Many thanks,
    Ryan

You can do this using a meta refresh but the problem is you have to add it to the html file for the page very time you publish changes.
A better way is to create a splash page and upload it to the server outside of the folder produced by iWeb. Example HERE.
The meta refresh is added to the head section of the html file...
    <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="32;url=http://www.domain.about.com/Page-Name.html">
The delay time in seconds is marked in blue and the URL to the redirect page is in red.

How can I make a backup of my iWeb page? Is iWeb also disappearing on June 30?

Here are some Apple help sheets about backing up your files:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1813
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1105
And I found this one written by an independant guy very thorough and helpful:

iWeb is not going away, but I would be skeptical about how much longer Apple keeps it around.
If you are looking for a new place to host your website, I use and would recommend Little Oak (www.littleoak.net).  They are a Mac hosting company, and are even offering a discount right now for iWeb users (http://www.thewhir.com/web-hosting-news/web-hosting-sales-and-promos-roundup-jun e-29-2012)

  • How can I share my iweb site I am creating online without publishing it on a host website?

I m working on my website with iweb, but I still haven't bought a domain from anywhere. I remember once I could publish my website on my local folder and then share it with a friend by sending the link. Now when I publish my website on my local folder I only get a local file. and no httpp address. If I go and visit the webaddress that appear on my search bar is file:///Users/... How can I make it http so that a friend can see it before I actually publish it with a proper domani www..
I hope someone understand what I am saying...I don't have mobile me btw.
    Matteo

The website files have to be on an online server for them to be viewable by others.
There are some free hosting servers available. Most will put adds at the top of your site but might be sufficient for your purpose.  Just do a Google search for "free website hosting" to get a list of them.
You might try setting up Web Sharing on your computer in the System/Sharing preference pane. It may or may not work depending on your internet provider:
Wyodor has used this method and can probably give you more info on how to set it up.
If you haven't purchased your domain name nor hosting service look at HostExcellence.com.  It has a couple of packages that offer free domain names, unlimited storage and band with, email addresses.  The Unlimited Business package is currently at $8/mo (a bit less than MobileMe was) and offers 3 free domain names. The economy package offers just 1 domain name at $4/mo.

  • How can I make a Subsite in iWeb

    Hi,
I'm making a multilingual site with other categories. How can I make subsites in iWeb? Like www.mysite.com/US or www.mysite.com/US/mac ? Has anyone an idea because I really don't now how to make such a site...

Menu File>New Site. Each site you create will be listed in the sidebar and will be in its own folder, so that the URLs are
    http://web.me.com/username/Site1
    http://web.me.com/username/Site2
and so on. The top site in the list is also available simply at http://web.me.com/username
If you are using Personal Domain the first site is available at www.domain.com but for the others you have to add the folder name:
    http://www.domain.com/Site2

  • How can I make Terminal run Java 7 downloaded from the Oracle Website?

I've downloaded Java 7 from the Oracle website, and I want the Terminal application to run that Java 7 download. I try to run Java programs that require Java 7, but it runs with the Apple Internal Java 6 release. How can I make it so my MacBook Pro runs the download of Java that I downloaded? I know this sounds stupid, but am I routing my machine to run the internal Java 6 version? I have seen many videos in which people with the same software version as me run Java like this with no problem. Could you please let me know why this is happening and how I can fix it? I really want to be able to use the Java 7, particularly because I'm always getting this "Unsupported Major Minor Version 51.0" from many applications that are Terminal based.
    Thanks!

I think I've answered your question. The Oracle JRE is a web plugin. The JDK is a development kit for applications with embedded Java. Neither one replaces the Apple-distributed Java frameworks for running standalone applications without embedded Java. Any other questions you have should be answered by the Oracle documentation.
