hello missdeezy, when i try this the page is scrolling further automatically when i get towards/beyond the bottom of the page with the mouse pointer - alternatively scrolling with the mousewheel, the arrow-key & the page-up/down-key works during text selection.
in case this doesn't work for you, you may try to launch firefox in safe mode and see if you can replicate this behaviour there? if not, maybe an addon is interfering...

Well I just spent some time searching for that and found one round-about way:
Open a document and choose Table in the toolbar.
Open Inspector and choose Table.
The default on mine was 3 rows and 3 columns - I changed that to fill up the page with horizontal lines and chose 1 column in the page width.
That resulted in this (partial screenshot):
That may not be what you wanted, but it's the only thing I found.

How can I make my pages wider?

Any idea on how I can set my default pages to be wider? The template in iWeb just seems too small. When i open the page I have a ton of filler space on the sides. I can't seem to figure out how to make the pages wider so I can put more space between the columns and not have such a massive blank space on the sides of every page. If there is a way, is there a way to make it a default? A way to set all my existing pages to be wider?

I would like to make a page transparent in InDesign.
When the magazine is printed it will be an overlay page with font printed on it where you can still see the image underneath. I was wondering if this is possible.

will these subjects actually be printed on separate pages or do you want to overlay some images on one page with type on the same page?
If the former, add and use layers; if the latter design one page and save it as a pdf. Place that pdf on a lower level layer, lock the layer, and work on a higher layer.

How can you determine which pages are using a specific symbol?

I want to find all the pages that are using a specific symbol, but I don't know how. I can't simply switch symbols because some have specific text & want to switch them with more generic smart buttons. I'll have to find every instance to update the text.

Exactly as it says on the tin. I am looking to save a PDF magazine/book layout in such a way so that when opened, only the front and back covers open to the viewer in single-page mode, and the rest of the pages in two-page facing mode, without re-printing the in-between pages in booklet format and re-inserting them into a new PDF (with the front and back covers left separate and untouched, and included as single portrait-orientation pages). This is so that individual pages can still be printed (on a physical printer, not a "virtual" one like a PDF driver), as-is without having the page next to it included, or the printouts always requiring landscape orientation (resulting with two "pages" from the PDF showing up on one sheet of paper).
So when the PDF is opened, I want just the front and back cover to be auto-viewed by themselves, and the content (the "meat" of the document) viewed side-by-side, as though one were actually reading a "book" -- but without actually re-doing the content pages to be "fused" side-by-side. Thus creating the "illusion" that they are, in fact, in booklet form. Is this possible, to have different page-display settings for different pages/page ranges in a single PDF? If so, how is this done? If not, what would be my best course of action otherwise to achieve this "virtual" book layout, while still retaining the "physical" structure of the document and allowing individual pages to be printed by themselves rather than "fused" together?

So, I'm one of those people who usually have 60+ tabs open at any given time. I'm also on a Lenovo laptop with a trackpoint (that may be relevant later).
Right now, I have smooth scrolling disabled.
In previous versions of Firefox, if I sat my cursor on the tab bar and scrolled either up or down, it would scroll across my tab bar at a constant, quick rate, usually taking about two or three seconds to reach the end. This wasn't an animated scroll (I've disabled that animated scroll via about:config in the current Firefox version).
However, now, it's doing something different. There's acceleration to the scroll. If I just tap the scroll in either direction, it scrolls only a few tabs. However, if I hold the scroll for a second, it instantaneously takes me to the far end of the tab bar, completely skipping at least thirty tabs in between.
I have tab scroll buttons added by Tab Mix Plus (smooth scrolling is also not enabled in that addon), and the same accelerating behavior occurs there. One or two taps of the button moves the bar a few tabs to the left or right, but several taps in quick succession takes me all the way to the far end of the bar.
I can restore the old scrolling behavior for the tab bar by turning on smooth scrolling in the Options > Advanced menu, but that turns on smooth scrolling for web pages at the same time. I don't like the web page smooth scrolling, and would rather not have it on.
Or if there's any other way to make it so that scrolling the tab bar moves the tab bar a fixed amount no matter what, that would be great.

However, this doesn�t work, and the tomcat server throws me the following exception: org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP. Or did the author of my book forget to mention that this page directive has to be added. Can anyone help me out here, cause I�m lost. this xml file, and how to create it.You don't absolutely need it. It needs to be placed in the webapprootdir/WEB-INF directory. So let's say you call your web application FruitMarket. So chances are you have a FruitMarket directory under the webapps directory in Tomcat (doesn't have to be, but if you place it elsewhere you need to make a change to the tomcat-home/conf/server.xml config file). Under that FruitMarket directory, you need to have a WEB-INF directory, in which you will place the web.xml. The web.xml file is a configuration file for your web application. You can store parameters in there, servlet mappings, etc. You can read more about it on the java.sun.com site.
