like title says, how can i accomplish this when i create/edit the QT movie?

You set the "href" link or use the target=your URL in your page code.
Quicktime 7 can also be used to set some movie proprieties to open the file in a new Player window.

One of my files that uses the QuickTime Player app.
If you wish to include a "link" inside your file to automatically open a new Web page when a certain frame of your movie is played you need to include a HREFTrack.
This feature is currently "broken" in the Windows version of QT 7.
Older versions still incorporate the href track properly/

I was very happily using Windows Media Player 9 for streaming video in Firefox, and it was working fabulously, until I installed Flip4Mac, and now when I click on a link within a web page to open a standalone player for steaming video (please see "Click here to open standalone player" link below web cam window on www.tappedintoelephants.com) it opens Quicktime instead of Windows Media Player. I would like it to go back to using WMP for the standalone player when I click that link. I tried unchecking the "steaming media" box in Quicktime MIME settings, I've uninstalled Flip4Mac, and reinstalled WMP, but still, when I click that link, it opens Quicktime and crashes the browser. Could anyone please tell me how I can tell Firefox to once again use WMP instead of Quicktime for the standalone player? I think what you should try is Settings>General>Accessibility>Vision>Speak Auto-text>Off.

How can I stop Quicktime movies opening my web browser?

Sorry if this has allready been brought up but I spent an hour searched the forums for an answer (And longer on google).
My issue is that certain unsavory people seem to be exploiting an ability of quicktime to launch the default web browser and goto a page they designate. This unfortunately mean often I will download a movie (Named something it isn't typicly), run it and suddenly have 10 internet explorer windows pop up opening assorted **** sites, sites demanding spyware and malware installations and on at least one occasion site containing scripts to automaticly install a virus on loading.
I'd like to how I can prevent this from happening short fo outright not using quicktime. Is there an option to disable a movies ability to link to web pages or a feature to block their attemtps to do so?

No. I don't have any viruses or spyware and I havn't been hijacked either. Look a little background on me, I work in tech support dealing with such issues for a living. Regardless I've had this happen on brand new computers I've set up and for the sake of been thorough in eliminating that idea as a possibility I followed every step and recommendation your links gave me and they turned up nothing.
The problem is a function of certain .mov files which basically activate an imbeded hyperlink within the file, opening the default browser and loading whatever site the link lead to. If I could find a tame one that didn't send you to pornographic sites etc. I'd be happy to host it for you to test out yourself but frankly the only .mov files I've seen that do it are usually **** films themselves named something else (For instance one was named SydneyOlympics2004Opening) with the intention of luring unsuspecting victims into downloading them and running them in quicktime forcing them to load all these malicious pages. It's fine for me on my home network where the security settings are setup so hazardous sites can't actually do anything and the addition of pornographic images to my temporary internet folder has no concequences but at work that could get you fired and heavily fined in goverment employment.
On a side note how another program could respond to a .mov file playing in quicktime opening web pages specific to that file and at set points in the movies timeline is beyond me. It would have to be a plugin for quicktime.

You have to create a QTL file that opens the QT movie in the player. Based on the settings it opens in Full Screen.

An alternative is to publish your movies to Vimeo and embed the movie in your page. These movies can play full screen.
Or use DivX of Flash Video.

You can get from Microsoft, the flip4mac free player. Since Windows Media Player for Mac is no longer supported, this is the way to go.

In my opinion, it is by far the best solution for playing .avi or .wmv files, because you get all the advantages of Quicktime.

If an image opens in a different application but you want it to always open in Preview when you double-click it, do this one time: Control-click the file, let go of the Control key, press the Option key, then choose Always Open With > Preview. I have not installed Quicktime.
I got a few scenes (.mov) from a Canon Eos 70d.
I want to create a short film (in Premiere CS4) with these scenes, mixed with photos and MP3 music.

When I have many tabs open, & I am viewing the 1st one in the row of tabs, how can I make ctrl+T open tab next to it instead of down at the end of all the tabs?

It sounds like maybe your home page was accidentally set to include multiple pages, including the add-on manager. Try opening the Firefox options window and pasting the address of just your desired page in the "Home Page" field.

I was just on a windows computer with some horsepower power. I can't get it, the video would play fine, but no audio. Perhaps Jon could take a look? I can't pick up anything on it, other than it's a .mov
I no longer have home access to a Windows machine or Mac running Windows OS. As I am not an HTML programmer, I did not check the page coding but had no problem playing any of the video content on the linked page using the Safari browser. Spot checked the source files and found them to be typical MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) files with a frame rate of 30 fps using CABAC entropy Main Profile Level 3.0 (SD) and Level 3.1 (HD) encodings in MOV file containers. As to audio, only one file—Video+(1).MOV (the "Raven, Salma and Kenneth" Claymation Practice file)—contained an AAC (LC) audio track. Except for the use of capitalized extensions (which I don't think should cause a problem), the videos themselves look standard and should be playable on any system using any compatible media or plug-in players that support standard MPEG-4 content and the MOV file container.
