Do just what the fish reads: Enveloping
Object > Envelope > Make
You can use predefined geometry or your own shapes or meshes. See the manual for details.

Click on the text colour box in the Text Pallete and select a colour.
Repeat with each new section of text.

Safari screen size? How can I make it fill the page?

For some reason today, my page width in Safari has reduced - I've obviously hit a button somewhere! How can I fill the width without blowing up the text to a huge size? Any answers would be helpful.. thanks

I need to make an evaluation test with some questions. Some of them is a fill-in-the-blank question and it has to have partial score.
I have:
4 fields (text entry boxes) with: retain text, validate user input;
also checked include in quiz, with points, add to total and report answers;
an action that disables the 4 fields when the student is on review mode (otherwise it would be possible to change the answer after submitting the answers);
Problems:
I can't give feddback to the student: if i turn on success/failure captions the student will see them while answering, if i turn them off he wont know what's the right answer. I tried to use a shape to hide captions but the captions are always in front of the shape;
When reviewing the test something happens and the second time we see the results slide it assumes that the fields in the FIB question are empty;
Notes: it will be used in Moodle, as a scorm package

I have just one button to submit all the answers, and after submiting the student can see his score and review the test to know where he failed. He can't answer again. However, he can change the answer multiple times before submiting.

How do I make text fill an oval and then place behind a background layer with CSS

Hi everyone,
I created a framed oval picture as a background with drop shadow for my portfolio site.

Now I want to put text on a clear "glass window/png" that fills an oval that will go inside the frame and I would like it to slide up behind the black background frame, but on top of the image.
I would like to move the scroll bar so that the text which will be about my services can slide up and fit the ovals you scroll down.
I tried:

I thought I would use Z-axis to get it behind background but I am not sure if that will work.

I had never heard of shape-inside before, so I did some poking around.
Looks like shape-inside is an experimental feature with little to no browsers supporting it.
On top of that, as far as I can tell from the documentation about it, a single set of coordinates with the polygon value won't do anything either way. You need at least 3 coordinates with polygon (making a triangle as the minimum). And that is only for the reflow of content, it has nothing to do with the actual shape of the element it's being used on.
If done correctly, in combination with the border-radius attribute, one could create a circle with a container element, then theoretically use a many sided polygon with shape-inside to force the content of the circular container to take on a relatively circular flow (think octagon in a circle).
I wasn't able to make any shape-inside settings work in any current browser though.
EDIT: Actually, I was able to get it to work in Chrome, with the -webkit- prefix and a newly downloaded version of Opera using the standard nomenclature. Definitely not ready for prime time. For shape-outside testing anyway. Shape-inside I still can't get to function in either.

How can I make text slide in from the right?

I'm really enjoying learning more with Captivate 6 and the community has been very helpful so far. I can't figure out how to get very simple text effects/transitions such as bringing text from the side of the frame to "slide" into place. This has been a text effect of every program for a decade, is this basic transition available in 6? I'm making a list on a few screens and would very much like the text to simply slide in from the right.
I'm about to just make a transparent png with the text to accomplish this for now considering it's my best bet. Any information would be handy. Thanks!

Apparently if your resolution is too low or the workspace isn't allowing "space" for a full effects window to show up, the whole thing shows up blank and grey. How obnoxious! By closing my properties tab on the right (after many other fixes including making those pngs) it showed up.

Does your email site have a print button to format the page for printing? That often gives the best results.
If this just started with Firefox 4, it could be related to a change in how strict Firefox is about a page's HTML code. To see whether this problem is caused by the new HTML5 parser, you can turn it off like this:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the filter box, type or paste '''html5''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click '''html5.parser.enable''' to toggle it to false (it should turn bold).
Then return to your mail site, reload the page, and test again. (Print Preview might be sufficient for testing.)
Does that make any difference? If so, the site might not yet be fully compatible with Firefox 4 -- or you have found a bug in Firefox.

How can I make text substitutions learn the correct capitalization of an acronym?

I love the text substitutions function in the Mac OS, and the auto grammar and spelling corrections are usually really useful, but there is one particular instance that is driving me insane. In my job, I end up using the acronym "TAs" (for "teaching assistants") all the time. Mac constantly autocorrects this to "Tas." I have tried adding "tas" to text substitutions in the settings and telling it to substitute "TAs," but it just autocorrects my substitution to "Tas." I have tried telling the OS to learn the spelling "TAs," but that hasn't worked either. I don't want to turn off capitalization correction altogether because I usually find it useful. Is there a way to fix this one word? The only workaround I have found is that it doesn't correct me when I pluralize with an apostrophe (as in "TA's"), but I am really not a fan of that.
I am running Mavericks 10.9.5, if that helps.

so that TAs becomes TAs
It worked via Safari 8.03
via Pages and Numbers (3.5.2)
It did not work in BBEdit
nor Firefox
nor Word

Assuming this is a web form...
You do that by adding a field that is "Text Field (Multiline)" and sizing it appropriately. It's possible to set both a minimum and a maximum limit the number of characters in a field. If your field is sized too small, text will still be able to be entered, and will export just fine, but just might not display fully when viewing on the web or when printing the web page.

When firefox opens on my 22 inch moniter, it only shows up in the middle of my moniter and not the entire moniter. How can I make firefox fill my screen?

It shows a white background on all the moniter, but the actual images are shown in the center of the moniter with 5 inches of white screen on both sides of the image. It is also to small of print.

Mac OS has had the behavior that if you have a window open at shutdown, it will automatically have that window open at startup - for your convencience. If you do not want that, there is no need to have a folder open at startup and you can easily avoid that. As mende1 said, make sure you quit (that is Command + Q or File > Quit) all applications before shutdown. And, close all open Finder windows by pressing the little red button in the upper left corner. Also check your System Preferences > General > Close all windows when quitting an application.

I'm creating an image for the web with a logo and text - the logo comes out ok, the text is all blurry. I've messed around with saving for web but no luck. It has to be a gif or a jpg.

Have you ticked Anti-Aliasing? At least in older versions, it is hidden away in the Image Size part.

Why is the window that I bring up so small? How can I make it fill my screen?

The answer is 'not very easily', unless the information you want to display is the employee's leave balances. In 12.1.3 Oracle have delivered functionality that allows you to include the leave balances in the approval notifications out-the-box, ie, without customization.
For any other information you're probably going to have to customize the standard delivered HRSSA workflow. Within this workflow, the Leave of Absence functionality uses the Notify Approver (Embedded) (HR_APPROVER_NTF) notification. The body of this notification is set to the Notify Approver (Embedded) (HR_NTF_EMBEDDED_REGION) attribute. This in turn defaults to:

So essentially you can change the HR_APPROVER_NTF notification. The problem with changing this notification is that it's generic - it's used for all SSHR functions and not just Leave of Absence. That means you have to make other, more substantial, customizations to the workflow to ensure the changes you make only applies to LOA.
The other option is to personalize the review page (ie, the region referenced in &HR_EMBEDDED_REGION) to include whatever messages you want. But that means they'll appear on the Review page and all LOA approval notifications and that might not be what you want.
It's usually better to live with what Oracle deliver and find an alternative solution! What's the content of the message you want to include?
