Merge? Do you mean use it with iPhoto? If it's a stand-alone app you can set it as an external editor in the Preferences.

Thanks for your reply, Jim. I imported a CD that I had burned previously with the 2 tracks of sound effects that I had downloaded from the internet (MP3 files), but I did not see an option to join the tracks when I imported the CD. In the upper right corner there were three buttons: Options, CD Info, and Import CD. When I click on Options, the drop-down menu has two choices: "Get Track Names" and "Submit CD Track Names". I cannot find an option to Join Tracks. Help!

Thank you for your suggestion. I backup on itunes. I went to itunes, deleted syncing my contacts, then re-synced them. But the Facetime capability option continues to be there on most (not all, for some curious reason) of my contacts. I am not sure I posed my question correctly. I want to be able to FT with my family, so don't want to delete the FT capability totally from my iphone and ipad. But I don't want all these other iphone calls from various contacts to ring on my ipad as FT calls. I want a way to select with whom I have FT capabilities. Any further suggestions? Why do songs randomly separate from an album? How can I merge them back into the album?

When I upload songs into my library either by adding files from the music folder on my Windows 7 64bit pc OR by inserting an audio CD, I have found that songs from the album randomly separate in my music library. Not sure why since the artist and album title still match - but just want to be able to get them to merge back as part of the album. Other pain point is that when they separate , they don't show the artwork?

You can't merge Apple IDs.
And you also can't change the name of an iTS Apple ID to another one that ends in a me.com.

Apple has no provisions for this. You cannot merge multiple Apple ID's into one ID. Content is always tied to the Apple ID that was used to purchase it.

Generally setting a common Album title and Album Artist will fix things.
For compilations that aren't, select all tracks, Get Info, and on the option tab set Part of a Compilation to No. If it already says No tick the box alongside, then click OK.

How many pictures (or how many bytes) are we talking? Now that the pictures are imported one way to cross users is to use a removable drive (although large volumes of files preclude this).
The other is to login as the user where the pictures are, then copy them into the public drop box of the user where you want the picture.
The arrow is showing (in ths example) copy files from the Pictures folder for my user to the guest user accounts public dropbox. When you do this you may have to authenticate and you won't be able to see the results of the copy until you log in as the other user.
All users are in the folder "/Users/"

How can I import iPhone contacts into Mac Address book

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and am in the process of trying to dump my Windows PC.
All of my important contacts are on my iPhone. How can I get those contacts into my Mac Address Book?
The same question goes for the music (ripped from CD) and my video files that are on my iPhone? The media is not that big of a deal because I can easily transfer it from my PC to my Mac but I assume I am not the only one in the world trying to do this and that Apple would make it very easy for MSFT Windows users to easily migrate to Macs.
I must be an idiot but I don't see any option in iTunes to transfer the data from my iPhone into iTunes and/or the Address Book.

The iPhone's primary function is NOT a word processor or a spread sheet analyzer.
I didn't say, nor was I trying to imply ANYTHING of the sort. You should read what I provided again a little slower and in it's entirety, not taking this out of context, which you made into Apples and Oranges.
It IS an iPod, a device designed to store and play music (in addition to being a browser and a phone).
It is a phone, an iPod, and an internet device, which supports transferring iTunes content from iTunes on a single computer ONLY.
Making it difficult to transfer my legal music from my iPhone to my Mac does not make me want to go out and buy more Apple products or Apple software.

You will likely need to transfer much more than just music from your Windows PC to your Mac and if so, how do you plan on accomplishing this? If you are transferring Word and Excel files, photos, and any other data, you won't be using an iPhone for this, so I don't see the big deal with transferring your iTunes library along with all other data being transferred.

As I provided in my first post in this thread - the sync process for contact information, calendar events, and bookmarks with an iPhone is bidirectional with the supported application on your computer. Content sold thru the iTunes Store is set up by Apple to be a break even - which is included with the Apple stockholder's report. Apple makes their profit via sales of the iPod and iPhone. The bulk of the iTunes Store revenue goes to those who own the distribution rights or the copyright holders for the content.
In addition, if my hard disk suffered a crash and I lost all my music it just seems stupid not to be able to pull it off my iPhone (yes, I know data should be backed up on a different drive, and mine is, but I am sure a lot of people do not back up their data).
Maintaining a backup of your data is important for this very reason, and for other reasons which is not Apple's responsibility. I believe iTunes includes an occasional warning message to backup your iTunes library (which can be turned off), and iTunes includes an option to transfer content purchased from the iTunes Store from an iPod or iPhone - since the overwhelming majority of this content includes DRM protection required by those who own the distribution rights or the copyright holders.
The iPhone was not designed as an external storage device or as a backup device - end of story. If someone chooses not to maintain a backup, they are playing Russian roulette with their data. Maintaining a backup is important regardless the platform, but even more so when running Windows with constant virus, adware, and spyware concerns.

PSE 6 Missing Photos How Can I merge ALL photos to PSE6?

in all the programs there are photos missing with the (?) or the torn photo image..
in PSE6 when I click on the (?) the program searches and finds the photo quickly BUT I dnt want to do that for thusands of photos.
I WANT to free up space on my hard drive and delete copies of my photos and ran a duplicate photo program which found some photos to have as many as 6 copies most have doubles..
I have 54,000 files of photo duplicates and about 120GB of space taken up.
I am sure that is double the amount of actual photos but as I started to delete the ones with 5-6 duplicates first saving just one copy I realized the
duplicate finder is not perfect...sometimes the one duplicate to be saved is in an odd location compared to the ones it listes as the duplicates.
I have deletd about 5,000 duplicates so far and got back about 10GB of space on my hard drive but I am afraid I am making it harder for the PSE6
to find all the photos. There is a one click button that will highlight ALL the duplicates and delete them in one swoop but I am worried PSE6 will not be able to find them and with just a (?) and a date I have no idea what photo is missing or how to find it.
I just deleted a trial version PSE6 and was finally able to install the one I was given on CD.
but when it loaded hundreds of photos have the (?) and so I opened ALL 3 versions of PE to see if the photos are still on my hard drive or if I deleted
them with this duplicate finder program.
I really just want to have ALL the photos in ONE place and delete the early versions of PSE4 and starter but I am afraid I will be deleting the photos
that are loaded in that catalog....

The advantage of this method is that you can control which duplicate you want to delete based on catalog information (e.g. one duplicate may have been tagged, the other not). And you don't need to worry about reconnecting files after you delete.
