How can I migrate data from an old MBA to a new one without having access to the screen of the old one? The screen of the old MBA is damaged !
If your "older" MBA has a Thunderbolt port then it isn't that old. See Target Disk Mode about how it's used. Note that without a monitor you won't be able to tell from the screen when it has fully started, and if it succeeded in starting in TDM. If it did, then the hard drive should appear on the Desktop of your new computer. You can then access it to transfer your files. You can even use Migration Assistant or any backup utility to transfer data. Just don't try to transfer system files.

How can I migrate data from SQL Server 6,5 to Oracle 8?
We have a web site based on Microsoft SQL Server 6.5.Now we plan
to migrate the database to Oracle 8.
We have redesigned the tables structure and created tables under
Oracle 8, so we only need to migrate data from SQL Server.
We've exported data from SQL Server to text files.
How can we import data from files and restore to Oracle tables.
Is there a solution which let us to import data for particular
table columns,not all columns?
We'll be appreciated if somene can give suggestions.

Michael

How do I migrate data from my old HDD to the new one I replaced it with?
I recently upgraded my HDD to a bigger one (160G to 500G). The old HDD still has all of my data which I would like to migrate to the new drive. I purchased a device that a tech at a computer store recommended but when I plug in the old HDD (using this device) to my Macbook pro the HDD doesn't show up in Finder! Can someone explain what's going on and what I need to do to get my data back? Thanks for all your help.
In the Utilities folder, run Disk Utility with the external disk drive connected and powered up. On the left column of DU's window there should be three devices: the first one would be the name of the new drive you installed and its size, with the volume it has (probably Macintosh HD unless you renamed it) indented below it. Next you should see the device that corresponds to your old drive, now connected via the enclosure the tech sold you; the clue to identifying it is that the name should contain "160 GB" (the size) in it. Below and indented you should see the name your old startup volume had; probably Macintosh HD unless you changed it. And below that you should see SuperDrive, which you can ignore.
If there is no external device in the list (just your new drive and SuperDrive), that means the Mac can't communicate with the external enclosure; should take it back and have the tech set it up right.
If there is a second device in the list, corresponding to your old drive, but the indented volum name under it appears grayed out, select it by clicking on the name to highlight it, click on Repair Disk, let the repairs finish and if no errors are found, click on the Mount icon on the upper bar of the window. Your old disk with all your stuff should now be accessible. If it cannot be repaired or it refuses to mount, report back with any and all messages it may show.
As for moving things over, consider using the Migration Assistant to migrate, as explained here (yours is the third case, Time Machine or other disk migration): http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4889 -

How can I migrate data from old macs second harddrive in time machine backup to my new mac?
Hi,
I have a little problem migrating all my data from my old Macbook to my new Macbook. I had two harddisk installed in my Macbook and did make a backup to a USB Disk. It seems that both harddisk are included in the backup. I can see them in Time Machine.
Now I want to restore my data to the new Macbook Retina. Unfortunately the Migration Assistant only shows the system disk, but not the data disk.
How can I access the data disk in the backup to restore the data to some directory on the new Macbook? The data is mostly the iTunes Library of my old Macbook.
RegardsIf the migration assistant doesn't work and you have no backup then you will have to take another path that involves a little more manual work. Anyway in your situation a fresh start seems like a good idea. So set up your new Mac with the same username and afterwards copy your user folder from the old to the new either using your ethernet connection or an external USB drive. This will also bring your user's Library folder along and retain most of your settings at least as far as they are applicable in Mavericks.

Hello
I recently purchased a Macbook Air with 1.7 Ghz Intel Core i5 4 gb Ram 11" with 128 Gb storage.
All is well but I would like to increase the storage in my Mac, to the maximum possible 512, 1 tb what ever possible.
I am in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia right now. No Apple Stores exist here at the moment. But I have noticed several authorized resellers.
Kindly guide me if, first of all this is possible or not, if yes then how can I go about doing this being in the country (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) that I am.
I also want to purchase an iMac, but the local shops don't seem to have stock and would like to inquire if I could order it online and have it delivered to my home/office here.
Thank you for your time.
AbdullahYou should go back to your Apple Reatiler Store since it is likely under warranty.
If'its not under warranty there e are a number of sites... here is one.

Personally I would sell the 128 and buy the one you need.

Hello everybody,
I need help to restore data from my iCloud account on an unused iPhone 5c because my iPhone 5 with a newer iOS update was stolen. When I try I get a message that I cannot retore my data because the iOS on my iPhone 5c is an older version than on the stolen iPhone 5.
There must be a way to do this. I hope to hear from you
thanks!Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You cannot. However, you can solve this problem by setting the iPhone as a new device and upgrading iOS in Settings -> Software Update.
After upgrading iOS, open Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase All Content and Settings. Finally, Setup Assistant will let you restore the backup. -

How can I migrate data to new Mac Pro with only 1 monitor
I am ready to set up my new Mac Pro. I know how to migrate my files from my G5 using Firewire and making the new computer a target disk. My problem is, I have only 1 monitor. Is there an easy way around this, OR of not, can I use my Macbook Pro just a monitor and if so how?
If you make the new computer a FireWire Hard drive, the only thing on its monitor will be the firewire symbol. You don't need a monitor to see that.
But if you did, you could start the new computer up first, look at the firewire symbol, get a warm fuzzy feeling, disconnect the monitor and plug it into the old computer to make the transfers. -
How can I transfer data from a PowerBook G4 to a new 27" iMac?
I am about to purchase a new 27" iMac and will need to transfer the apps and data to it from an Apple PowerBook G4, running OS 10.4.11 (Tiger). In the past i've been able to use an Ethernet cable to do the transfer. I called the Apple retail store in Lynnwood, WA for advice and was told that I would need to attend a series of "one-on-one" sessions to learn how to do this! Since I live many hours away and must travel via a ferry system, it's obviously impractical to attend these "sessions."
Any suggestions?I've done a number of PowerPC ... Powerbook and mini ... conversions to Intel systems. I haven't done this to a Lion system, however, the general guidelines should still work. Here's two references which have guided me ... this user note: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2295 and this thread (see Cornelius's posts): https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2195685?threadID=2195685&tstart=0.
I have used a firewire cable, in order to put the Powerbook into Target Disk Mode, prior to moving things over.
As Joe mentioned, PowerPC apps no longer work in Lion. Check what you have by bringing up system profiler (about this mac, more info), click applications, then 'kind', which sorts the list by code type (PowerPC, Universal, etc). Anything identified as PowerPC will be lost unless you upgrade to a Universal or Intel version. -
How can I get data from an older iPhone onto a new one?

Arun M MWhat are you going to return the structure to? What I would normally use here if the code was going to be used by other PL/SQL would be a PL/SQL object type.
However, if PowerBuilder is still in the equation (you're moving the logic to PL/SQL but keeping PowerBuilder for the GUI ), then you'll have to return something else, because PowerBuilder doesn't understand PL/SQL object types. Perhaps passing a REF CURSOR as a OUT argument and populating it from the procedure. PowerBuilder could then retrieve the result of the procedure using a stored procedure based DataWindow. -
Hello, all,
how can I enter data in an input schedule on a member in the EPM Add-On that is not a base member?
E.g. I want to implement a top-down-planning scenario and I have the following hierarchy:
Europe
Germany
France
UK
Spain
Italy
How can I enter a value on Europe in an input schedule in order to allocate this value afterwards?
Thanks in advance and best regards
GerdGerd,
It should be something like below -
EuropeInput
Europe
Germany
France
UK
Spain
Italy
EuropeInput shall be kept out of hierarchy and should be a base level member. Users will enter the numbers in this member. In your script logic, you will make use of this member to allocate the data in Bas(Europe) i.e. Germany, France, etc.
Effectively, after allocation the same data will be rolled up to Europe.
Many top-down planning would use such work-around as BPC doesn't allow writing to parent node.

Ashish
