How can I move my .mac e-mail to main apple id?

I have a Main apple ID that i've always used for itunes and app store purchases, but I had a mobile me account that upgraded to iCloud.
I want to consolidate it to one ID and keep my email address. I know Apple say you can have one ID for iCloud and another for itunes/ app store, but at some point down the line its going to cause problems. I know you cant merge id's but i just want to keep my email address?
any ideas? anyone?

Mhh that is very difficult to say, sure it is a lot easier if yo only have one Apple ID for all iCloud Services (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, ...) + App and other Store purchases like music, tv shows etc., but if you already bought a lot of stuff or even everything with one ID, I personally would keep that ID for iTunes and other Store purchases and would use an other ID for iClouds services like Mail, Calendars, Photo Stream etc.
By the way, it is not possible to create a new mac.com email address. At the moment you only have the ability to create a me.com address. (For a new account go to "Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Add Account, iCloud" choose the option "get a free me.com email address" during the set up process.)

If your Verizon account is an IMAP account you can create folders on the iPad via the Edit button when you are in the account. If the old ID is yours, and if it is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Lets start with checking out the articles below for setting up Family Sharing and more information about Apple ID’s. I will say that you will not be able to transfer any purchases to a different Apple ID, but you can rename the Apple ID. If you want to use Family Sharing, then you will need to just create a new iCloud account and then follow the steps in the second article to start sharing content between you to.

I've tried to do this but it doesn't seem possible. For instance, trying to choose the username from another Apple ID you own correctly tells you that it's already in use. However, logging in with the Apple ID that has the username you want and trying to change the Apple ID tells me that the Apple ID I want to move the username to already has a username even though it doesn't because I'm at the stage of choosing a username in that other account. In this case I get the error message: "This change is not allowed because that Apple ID is already in use. You can try again using a different name or leave your Apple ID unchanged."
I read about one potential solution to this and that is changing the username you want in the Apple ID you no longer want associated with Game Centre, thereby releasing it and then quickly try to grab it again in the Apple ID you do want it on. I'm a bit nervous about trying this though because I do like the username enough that I'd rather stay with the existing Apple ID than risk losing it.
Has anyone tried doing this and had success? Maybe Apple blocks you from using a username for a period of time after it's been associated with an account, so I'm not sure I want to do this.
I wish Apple would just let us consolidate Apple ID/accounts and give us more control over our accounts (including the ability to close old/redundant Apple IDs)! It's a cause of endless frustration for so many people!!!

I don't believe you can. @me.com email addressses are permanently tied to the iCloud account that created them (in your example, ID1) and can't be moved.

--> If all you want to do is keep your history, make a local folder on your mac and drag all the mail messages there (both se4nt and incoming). I am not sure what will happen if you later drag those into the new Xmail account

If you migrated your MobileMe account before 1 August you should have signed into System Preferences>iCloud with it, and you would be able to see your calendars, bookmarks and emails on the iCloud website. Is this the case? Did you sign into iCloud with your @me.com address?
If you did not migrate your MobileMe account you can no longer do so.
If you did migrate, did you do so from a full MobileMe account or from a Family Pack sub-account? the latter did not get the complimentary storage (because their iDisks were only 5GB anyway).
If you had a full MobileMe account, check on your Mac - System Preferences>iCloud - and see whether that shows the upgrade. If it doesn't, you probably need to contact Support: if you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:

If you've downloaded the media idependently to each library so far then thet won't be exactly the same as there are different naming rules for the files and folders in OS X and Windows. See Make a split library portable for some general advice. You can move a portable library between Mac and Windows, but there is a delay opening the library after each change of OS.

Easy. Copy it from the old Mac to the new one.
There are a variety of techniques including Setup Assistant (as soon as you get your new MacBook Air, it will ask you if you want to transfer information from another computer), Migration Assistant (if you elect to transfer information later), enabling file sharing between the two computers, or copying your music to a flash drive or other storage device followed by importing it to iTunes.
