How can I move select photos from my mac to my macbook air?

I would like to know the best, quickest, easiest way to move photos from my Mac to my macbook air?  I have tried Migration Assistant--was going to take 4 hours and I don't want to share all files, just photos.  I also went into System Pref. on each computer, clicked "Sharing" and attempted to allow access to both computers by setting up a Public folder but only some of the photos transferred.  I also get a message on my mb air telling me I don't have access to the pictures on the other Mac, even though I have granted access to "Everyone" in my network.   Also, I've updated both computers and rebooted them, to no avail.
We have a wireless network, if that makes a difference?
Thanks!--have a client meeting in 25 minutes and need some photos--HELP!!

1st solution
One great features is AirDrop if you connect both Mac on the same WiFi.
Go to finder, on the top of the left list you get : All my files, AirDrop, ...
Click on AirDrop on both computer, you will see on both computer each other. Then just drag and drop files from one computer to the other.
2nd solution
Use an USB drive ... ok physical support are so boring ...
3rd solution
Share folders between your computer but with right rights on it ... can take a long time to explain ... ask if you wan't this solution
4th solution : iPhoto
if you store your pictures in iPhoto you can share your library between several iPhoto.
Launch iPhoto on both Mac and on the source's one activate sharing library
5th solution : iCloud
If you have iCloud configured on both Mac and you store your photo in iPhoto both will get the last 1000th photos
6th solution : dropbox
Store your photo in dropbox and they will synchronize on both Mac
7 ....
Ask if you want some more

  • How can I move selected photos from one iPhoto Library to another?

When I set up a new iPhoto Library and copied photos into it, only the thumbnails transferred.  I want to combine the two libraries now and have the master photos in the combined library.  How do I do that in iPhoto 11 and how do I then remove duplicates?

The only way to merge libraries is with the paid ($20) version of iPhoto Library Manager

  • How can I move a photo from one project to another

How can I move a photo from one project to another without creating a duplicate so I have the same photo in two projects.
I seems to me in the past when I moved the photo from project 1 to project 2, I would get a number showing the # of photos being moved and you could drag and drop in the 2nd folder and the photos would disappear from project 1 and show up in project 2. is there a setting I am missing.  Now when I drag and drop the photo no red # shows up and the photo stays in project 1 and also shows up in project 2 apparently creating a duplicate.
    Any suggestion?

Now when I drag and drop the photo no red # shows up and the photo stays in project 1 and also shows up in project 2 apparently creating a duplicate.
The projects are the basic containers.  Each image and all its versions are in exactly one project.
You can use an image in many albums, without duplicating it, also in many products like books, screensaver, slideshows.  But the projects are the basic structure of the library and you cannot have the same image in two different project, without duplicating it by storing the same original image files twice. Use albums to organize your library thematically.
Sorry, I misread your question.   Dragging an image file between projects should move the image and all its versions to the other project.  Aperture should only duplicate the image, if you hold down the alt/options key while dragging and move the image otherwise.
Which Aperture version are you using? And which MacOS X version?  Is your profile signature "MacBook Pro with Retina display, Mac OS 9.2.x, Aperture 3.5.1" still valid?
In Aperture 3.6 on MacOS X 10.10.1 dragging between projects is still working as expected:

  • How can I move my photos from Photoshop Elements 8 to a new computer also running Elements 8?

How can I move my photos from Photoshop Elements 8 to a new computer also running Elements 8?

I am not sure this is going to work. For one thing, the preferences file is in a different place in Mountain Lion. It is at: ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.pli st. I wouldn't try to move the .plist file, I'd be very surprised if it would work.
I would do a different approach and start with just recreating the mail account(s) you have on the new machine from scratch and let them download your mail from the server. Then if there were e-mails not on the server any more, but stored in the black macbook, I'd copy them from the mailboxes folder, from the old machine to the new. I'm not sure where they are in 10.5.8, but in ML they are at ~/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes.
At each stage along the way I'd do a backup, so in case it screws things up, you can revert to a functional Mail.app.

  • All I want to know is: HOW CAN I IMPORT A PHOTO FROM MY MAC DESK TOP?

I am sorry to be so ignorant, but I am not sure of WHERE to "post" this question:All I want to know is: HOW CAN I IMPORT A PHOTO FROM MY MAC DESK TOP?

Do you mean you want to import a photo to the organizer? It's easier if you put the photo where you want to keep it before importing, but just go to File>Get Photos>From Files and Folders and import it. If you move it after importing you  must move it in folder view in the origanizer.
If you just want to edit the photo, there's no need to import it. Just go to File>Open in the editor.

how can I move a calendar from my mac to the i Cloud.  It is an existing calendar that I publish for others to view.  It does not update through the cloud since it is not curently on the cloud.  I cannot figure out how to move it on to the cloud.

Your signature says you have Leopard 10.5.8 - is this correct? (If it isn't please amend it). Leopard cannot access iCloud: Lion 10.7.2 is required. Have you actually opened an iCloud account (or migrated from MobileMe)?
if you do have Lion and have joined iCloud then your calendars should have been migrated to iCloud automatically. If this hasn't happened then the method for moving them is described in the first set of numbered instructions on this page - I emphasize that this is only possible on Lion.

Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc)  or use an external hard drive formed Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.

  • How can I move my photos from Mac to iCloud?

I want use my iCloud account but I don't know how can I leave my files in iCloud. I use a MacBook pro and I need leave some pictures just in iCloud...and take off from my Mac.

iCloud is not a photo storage service and Photo Stream is a tool to share photos rather than to back them up. For the most part iCloud is about sharing your data between devices. It does have some back up features such as storing your iOS devices back up but most media should be propperly backed up using your computer's back up routines.
In iPhoto you can send a copy of a photo to your Photo Stream by selecting it and clicking the "Share" button. Photo Stream has a 1000 photo limit and will only store them for 30 days. I have not come close to the 1000 photo limit nor have any of my photos been deleted after 30 days, but I still wouldn't use it for a back up.

  • How can I move a photo from one Album to another?

You can't move pictures between albums on the iPad. You must do this on the computer that you sync the albums from.

  • How can i delete stock photos from my Mac that are on my iPhone?

When I first synced my iPhone 4S to my iTunes on my macbook pro, I got a bunch of stock photos and icons used on my computers. I cannot delete them on my iPhone like you would delete a normal photo; the option to delete the photos is disabled,
The pictures take up a lot of space and I want to get rid of them.
I just updated to iOS7 and my iTunes has not been updated lately.
There are 488 of these photos and they are in an album called "last import- from my mac"

Do you mean that you synced them from iTunes to your iPhone?  If so, you have to sync to iTunes again and change the selected synced photos.

  • How can I move desktop items from one Mac to another?

The screen on my old Mac laptop is physically broken. I bought a new Mac laptop. I can hook the two via a firewire cable and access the old Mac's hard drive, but I can't figure out how to access the files on my old desktop so that I can move them over to the new Mac. How can I do this?

First, in the future, try to avoid storing files or folders on the desktop; it can create slowdowns.
Second, your files should be in Macintosh HD/Users/yourname/Desktop. If you can navigate to that folder, you should be able to grab and copy them.

  • How can I transfer my photos from my computer to my ipad air if I don't have Aperture or Iphoto

I am trying to transfer photos from my Macbook pro to my Ipad Air, but I don't have Iphoto or Aperture. I was wondering if there was a way for me to maybe tansfer them without those apps.

Copy the files over the network or copy them onto other media, USB drive, and copy onto new machine.
