How can I obtain a reference to a global variable?

I wish to change the contents of the columns in a global multicolumn listbox. As far as I can see, the only way to access the columns in a multicolumn listbox is to create a reference to it and access the ItemNames property. But how can I create a reference to a to a global variable?

You can open a reference to a global as if it is a normal VI and then get a reference to a control on that VI. I have included a little VI here with a test global variable to get the item names from an MCL in that global. I needed the MCL in the main program just to force the reference to a strict MCL reference. You could turn this into a sub VI that just returns the item names of a named MCL if that works better (then the MCL that's only used for reference would not be on your main front panel).
This VI searches through all the names of the controls on the referenced VI until it finds the one that's asked for.

How can I programmatically create and use a global variable?

I have an app where the number of AI DAQmx tasks I create are specified in a config file. I have a monitor task that periodically looks at the latest values from all DAQ tasks. I've been doing this with a set of global variables because it was the simplest way to do it. But to do this, I have to explicitly create a separate AI task that uses the hard-coded global variable name for the DAQmx samples. I would prefer to only write one VI for the DAQ loop that writes to a global variable that I programmatically create based on the config file. The only solution I can think of is to use a global variable "pool" that is sized bigger than I expect to need, and then have a big switch case to select which one I want based on the task index. But this sounds pretty silly.

I tend to agree with Ben. I don't buy the concept of taking the asy way out (globals) because it very rarely will things remain static. You almost always have to extend the features and functionality of an application and then you will run into issues with sloppy and lazy implementations. The solutions offered may require a little time to learn but once you do it doesn't really require any extra effort.

How can I do the CNiReal64Vector as a global variable?

My problem is with the CNiReal64Vector. Ive tried to define this vector as a global variable in the header file:
public:
NI::CNiReal64Vector plotData(50);
but the debuger flushed error : Syntax error ´constant´.
Of course, I used usually square brackets:
public:
double plotData[50];
Is it possible define the array of CNiReal64Vector as a global variable?

In the header (.h) file, declare the variable like this:
extern NI::CNiReal64Vector plotData;
In a source (.cpp) file, define the variable like this:
NI::CNiReal64Vector plotData(50);
This will cause the compiler to generate a single instance of the plotData global variable and a call to the CNiReal64Vector constructor that takes an integer that specifies the initial size. I believe that this is what you are trying to do.

Find your serial number quickly
You can activate software without following up and registering it... at least that was the case in the past. The serial number is normally located on the disc case or a box inside the main box. If you did not purchase the disc from Adobe then it is possible you would have dealt with a redemption code, in which case it would have been up to you to keep a record of the serial number, especially if you did not follow up and register the software.

I've moved my Aperture library to another computer, and masters are referencing an old path name. How can I update these references? Reloctating masters does not work in this case :(

Now, the photos I imported have reference to the old path name on my old computer.
How can I update these references as "Relocate Masters" does not work in this case?

Just one suggestion to be able to reconnect all at once:
Create a smart album containing the images with missing masters:
File -> New -> Smart Album, and add a rule: File Status is "Missing" (or File Status is "offline")
Then select the images in this album and go to the File menu:
and select: File -> Locate referenced File
If you are lucky, Aperture will reconnect all at once, if you point the first image version to its counterpart.

How can I obtain a version of Print Studio Pro that works with Photoshop Elements 13 (64 bit)? The advertising refers to Print Studio Pro 2 but all I find available to download is version 1.35.

Thanks - I did notice that the 2 was a superscript on one site but on another (I think the one for the Pro-10 printer) it was definitely a 2 in line with the rest of the text and separated by a space (at least on my browser). At any rate, I suspected something of the kind and will simply use Photoshop Elements 11 when I want a pattern print until the change is made.
If you have an inside line to Canon you might also suggest some changes to their Image Garden program, specifically its handling of DVD label projects. It has several themes and within each theme several layouts. As far as they go these are fine but they do not give nearly enough flexibility. The boxes for insertion of images are useful as is the simple procedure for rescaling the image so it is cropped in varying ways while staying within the fixed box. However, it should be possible (a) to relocate the boxes on the page and (b) to resize and reshape the boxes - probably by a control which would become available by right-clicking on the box. For example, there are times when the user might want to include a full 16 x 9 frame shot as one of the images, and in general the aspect ratios of the provided boxes do not permit this.
I have over the years preferred to use Word for this purpose after setting up masks to expose just the printable area of the DVD or Blu-ray disc, setting up the margins so that the center of the disc is in the horizontal center of the page, and finally introducing text and pictures and adjusting the font size of blank lines above the disc to line everything up properly in the vertical direction. A typical layout might involve one large picture, located so the center hole and the curved outer edge do not block anything important, or two pictures side by side, or four pictures centered vertically (to minimize the effect of the outer edge of the disc) but possibly of different widths (so as to make both close-ups and wide scenes optimal on the same disc label). The text then goes above and below the pictures. All of this works perfectly so I probably wouldn't use Image Garden very often for this purpose, but the inability to resize and relocate the boxes must be very limiting for others as well.
Some of the layouts have image locations severely reduced by the edge of the disc.

If you registered the software you should be able to find the serial number thru your Adobe account online.
