How can I open 100D RAW files in CS4, I have tried everything.
Hi guys, can someone please help me. I am trying to open 100D RAW files in PS CS4. I have tried so many things including downloading the plug in and even DNG converting but would rather be able to open RAW files direct and not have to convert everything to DNG anyway as it is time wasting. The 100D is supported from ACR 7.4, which was released shortly after the camera came on market. ACR 7.x requires Photoshop CS6 to run, and won't work in the by now very old Photoshop CS4.
So your only option is to convert to DNG and open those in ACR 5.x / PS CS4. (or upgrade, of course, but I take it you don't want that).
EDIT: assuming Canon 100D.

It means that you'll either have to use the Adobe DNG converter and convert your RAW files to DNG first, or upgrade to CS6, or use Lightroom to export (TIFF) to Photoshop.
I used the DNG converter for years before finally upgrading Photoshop. It was an extra step, but it just became part of my workflow - put card into reader, download RAW files, go grab a beer, batch convert to DNG, drink beer, edit in Photoshop. But had I known about how powerful Lightroom was I would have switched over to LR long before and just used that to export to Photoshop when necessary. -
Can't open canon raw files in cs4
I recently had to rebuild my pc after a problem that stopped a few of my programs working (I'd installed xampp so I could use wordpress on the pc but it stopped cs4, firefox, video studio and a bunch of other stuff working - removal and reinstalling did no use, I had to build a new disc).
I reinstalled cs4 and got all the updates but now I find I can't open can raw files with cs4 or bridge. I tried replacing the Camera Raw.8bi file with the latest file from adobe as per their web instructions but it still doesn't work. So I tried the adobe dng convertor (version 8.3) and ran the files through that, still no luck, I can't open the files.
I could open them wwith canons own software and save as a tiff, but then I'm losing a lot of information.
I'm still running vista home premium - no I can't upgrade to windows 8.1 and use the latest photoshop and lightroom software because 8.1 doesn't work with my nikon scanner or my epson large format printer. It doesn't like a few other items I have either.
I remember I had to download a few files a couple of years ago when I first bought the pc (a whole 3 years ago) as I was having trouble with photoshop and raw files then but I can't remember the name of the file or where I got it from.

Adobe told me to replace the relevant file, which I did. The trouble is that went I do this then 'camera raw' disappears from the 'help / plugins' list and there doesn't seem to be any way of getting back other than uninstalling and reinstalling cs4, and once I do this it overwrites the files again...
I can't remember having this trouble when I first installed it a couple of years ago but I do seem to remember having to replace a file somewhere but that may have been on an earlier version.
I have an old EOS 5d mk1 & a 7d mk1, so it's not as though the camera is unknown to cs4.

I have a IPad Air and when I download any game from Big Fish the game will not open to play . I have tried everything to get the games to work - reboot, delete, restart my IPad everything. I can download games from other places like G5 games play fine. What version of Photoshop are you running? You will need at CS5, CS6, CC or CC2014. Each version needs a different ACR-plug-in to open files from that camera.
If you are on CS4 or earlier, you'll need to upgrade—or, in the alternative; look for, download, instal, launch and run the free, stand-alone DNG Converter 8.6 on each file of raw NEF files to convert them to raw DNGs first so you can open them in your version of Photoshop and ACR plug-in higher than 2.4. -

I have just bought a Panasonic Lumix compact camera. Aperture and Preview can't open the RAW files from this camera. Panasonic recommend downloading 'SYLKPIX Developer Studio SE' to save RAW file formats.How can Aperture and Preview read the files?
Either use 'SYLKPIX Developer Studio SE' to develope the RAW files and to save them in another lossless format like TIFF, or try if Adobe's free DNG Coverter can convert your Lumix RAW files to dng. Then import the dngs. This way, your files will still be RAW files. This works (most times) for my Lumix FZ28.

Yes, those are good links, but let's clean up the terminology too so we're all talking the same language.
There is no "open" in Lightroom when referring to photos.
You can "import" photos into Lightroom ... this means that now Lightroom has registered the photo's location and other pertinent information into its database, but it does not store the photo itself in the Lightroom database (or anywhere else in Lightroom), so Lightroom never contains your photos; the photo continues to be stored on one of your hard drives, wherever you want it to be, and the file is visible in your operating system.
Once you have imported the photos, then Lightroom can perform tasks on the photos, such as Develop, Print, e-mail or upload, etc. and once you have imported photos into Lightroom, you should not move or rename or delete them outside of Lightroom. -
When I move a RAW file from IPhoto on my macbook pro to desktop or Photoshop it changes to a jpeg and reduces in size. How can I get the Raw file to move across?
I create separate folders based on the year and then the actual date of when I take images. You can make those folders anywhere on any hard drive that is connected to your Mac whether internal or external. I also use the Photoshop Photo Downloader that is included with Photoshop/Bridge and it will create the date folder so all I do is create a Year folder.
Open Bridge or click on the Bridge icon in PS and in the File menu item in Bridge select "Get photos from Camera". It can be a camera connected to your Mac or a memory card from a camera. A window will open and you then select the camera or memory card. Set the location they will be downloaded to, just the folder and you can Browse to a folder that you created, then in the "Create Subfolders drop down select what date stamp you want to use or or custom name or not to create subfolders at all.
I've never cared for iPhoto one bit. I tried it but found it way to restrictive. It likes to have full control over how you interact with your images. -

Since photoshop cs5 can't use past the camera raw 6.7 plugin and that camera requires at least the camera raw 7.1 plugin, you could use the 8.7.1 dng converter
to convert the files to dng copies, which then photoshop cs5 should be able to open.

You can download the 7.1 DNG converter to make copies of your canon raw files in the adobe dng format, which can then be opened in pse 9.
As said above the the latest camera raw plugin 6.5 for pse 9 won't open those files directly, but will open the the converted dng files.

You have to export to IDML from InDesign CC2014 (or whatever the version it was created in) and then open the IDML in the earlier versoin of InDesign.
