Well the problem is that my ipod touch 4g stop working and fix it was $440 dolars so I didn't pay it, all my information was lost (what worries me more are the photos from the camera roll). And I need to know if and how can I open a back up of an ipod in my Macbook Pro computer.

I know of no way of getting it from the backup then.
However, borrow someone's iPod, iPhone or iPad with an iOS version at least equal to yours and then restore that device from your backup. Get the information off the iPod and then restore the device from their backup

I need to remove the cover because my ipod seems to be suffering from a hardrive problem. It used to just cycle through all the songs in a playlist or randomly play 5 seconds and skip to the next song, but now it just makes a whirring noise when I try to turn it on and cannot get past the apple logo.

After a while the battery got very low. THis test chews up the battery. So I escaped out by resetting and went to connect it to a power source.
My USB was dangling out of my computer and I was too lazy to get the Firewire AC adapter thing going so I connected expecting the whole lockup thing with iTunes. Surprise. IT was recognized immediately and has been working like a champ. So go figure.
