How can I open firefox in safe mode?

I can no longer find a way to open firefox in safe mode, as I could before the latest version

There are another couple of way you can start Firefox in Safe Mode: one is to hold down the "Option" key when you click Firefox in the dock. The other is to run the following command in a Terminal window:

Thanks Morbus.. I hadn't noticed that but it was already set at Mac. I tried it again and it worked this time... but alas my main problem persists:
My back and forward buttons don't work in Firefox and I've lost all of my bookmarks! I've tried a few of the suggestions but without success at the moment.
Particularly unhelpful are the instructions to back-up your lost bookmarks - which I can't do cos they're lost!!

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

I want to close the bokkmarks side bar, I have tried to open firefox in safe mode but this does not help.

This morning I opened firefox as usual and found that a sidebar for bookmarks on the left side of this page. I did not request this to open and I want it removed from my computer. I do not like the way it uses up the space on the page. I have tried to open firefox in safe mode but his did not clear it. If I can not remove this sidebar I will want to close firefox.

There should be a little 'x' Close button in the top right corner of the sidebar.
Alternatively, Ctrl + B will close it too.

After installing Acrobat 8, can only open Word in safe mode

After installing Acrobat 8, can only open Word in safe mode. If I delete my customized Normal.dot, then all is well. However I want the macros available from the customized Normal.dot. I tried switching Templates after opening Word and it immediately triggers an error message: "Word has encountered a problem and needs to close." It then recovers all my recent documents even though they were fine, had no need to be saved. Thinking that Normal.dot had been corrupted, I went back to the original M$ Normal.dot and re-created my macros and saved as a new Normal.dot. The next time I open Word, I get the error message.
I have a template with only one macro. It does not cause this problem. The template I prefer has 3 macros and I will need to create more.

I am told by my company's IT folks that the problem resides with Office 2003 sp3. If you remove SP3 and revert to SP2, the issue vanishes, so they say (I have not done it yet).
M$ is possibly ignoring the issue permanently, since they are on a new initiative to unseat PDF in favor of their own document format they're working on presently. I've sent a million error reports to them and....NOTHING.

How can I open Firefox in safemode?

My roommate had a Ransom Ware page pop up on her HP Envy Win8 desktop computer. She immediately shut down Firefox. Firefox is set to re-open tabs when opening, and that tab is showing up. When she tries to close that tab, it opens and asks "Do you want to navigate from this page" in a small pop up window.
I told her not to select anything on that page and just close Firefox with Task Manager. I said to re-start Firefox in "Safe Mode" but, there is no Safe Mode option.

hello halfdeaded, you can launch firefox in safemode by pressing the shift-key while it's launching, however i'm not sure if this will work in solving the issue.
if the site is just preventing you from navigating away you might want to disable javascript temporarily: open a new tab & enter '''about:config''' into the addressbar (confirm the notice). in there search for the preference named '''javascript.enabled''' and double-click it in order to change its value to '''false'''. then it should immediately be possible to close the scam-site in question. afterwards turn back the javascript.enabled preference...
in case the site opened by its own, there already might be malware present on the computer. please go to ''firefox > addons > extensions'' & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and run a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner].

I can't lock Firefox into safe mode on You Tube.

I use Firefox 24 and have followed all the directions given to me by You Tube in order to lock the website into safe mode on the firefox browser. It works until I close firefox. Once I open it again it doesn't remember the setting and goes back to normal mode. It is supposed to be locked in for that browser until someone logs in under my google account and changes it back. I can lock it in Chrome and IE with no problems. I am about uninstall FIrefox...please help!

Hello Ammonthomas, if you started Firefox in Safe Mode, it will remain in Safe Mode until Firefox is completely closed.
i think an option is to make the site you want (You Tube) one (or the only) homepage and set firefox shortcut to open in safe mode : right-click the firefox shortcut > properties > target > change the target to : "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode

Can only open Outlook in Safe Mode

Hi all, I have been using O365 for 12 months. Last week Outlook stopped working properly - never had a problem before then. The only thing I did (that I know of) was I deleted a mailbox from the navigation pane on the left hand side (right click
- remove). Since then, nothing but grief.
I can start Outlook in Safe mode no problems.

I have disabled every single Addin.
I have checked that harware acceleration is turned off
I have tried outlook.exe /resetnavpane
I have deleted my profile and started again from scratch (3 times).
I have uninstalled and reinstalled O365.
Nothing is working. When I start Outlook in normal mode, it just hangs on the splash screen. Interestingly, I can right click on the Outlook icon on the task bar and select any of the options (new message, new calendar entry) etc and they all work.
The issue is that the main screen with the inbox and navigation pane wont load.
Does anyone have any ideas that might help me?

Many items are disabled if we open Outlook in safe mode. These items are features that store their settings in the registry. We can try the following steps to see the result:
1. Close Outlook if it is running.
2. Start Registry Editor.
3. Browse to the following registry location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook
4. Rename the \Outlook part of this key to \Outlook-1.
5. Restart Outlook.
When you restart Outlook, a new \Outlook registry key that has default settings is created in this location.
In addition, we can also try using the Microsoft Office Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT) to see if we can find any problem from the report. See:

Administrator rights are required to open the file in this location. How can I get Firefox to open now?

Firefox installs to C:\Program Files\Mozilla\Firefox by default.
Did you do a custom installation to that \All Users\AppData folder?

Mozilla keeps crashing and i can only open it in safe mode. How do I fix this?

I tried un-checking use hardware acceleration and tried to open but all it said was that i have to close mozilla because there is already a version running but hadnt even clicked on mozilla yet so i checked the box again and the crash report came back. I'm writing this in safe mode.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
