How can I open PDF's in my favorite display-setting?

I am using Acrobat Pro.
I would like all PDF's to open in Single Page Continuous and 100% Zoom.
Under 'Preferences' and 'Page Display', I have already put these settings the way I want. Under 'Accessibility', I have also put the 'Override' settings this same way. However, PDF's still open with random page displays and I have no control over it.
What can I do? And why did the previous 2 ( ! )  steps not work?

Actually, the application is doing exactly what you have told it to do.
Single page continuous directs Acrobat / Adobe Reader to "Fill the window with each page and scroll through pages continuously".
So the page zoom is "fill the window" with the "window" being the active window of Acrobat / Adobe Reader.
The percent page zoom is going to be a function of the size (on one's screen) of the application's active window.
A maximized active window will have a different percentage than an active window resized to something less than maximized.
And of course there is the variable of the screen (tablet, netbook, laptop, desktop stand alone monitor (which in turn can be one of many different sizes).
As well there are the variations you'll see as you play with changes to the monitor display resolution. Neat stuff but straying OT.
Well,  anyhow, the "fit the window" of single page continuous will "override" any separate setting for "page zoom".
Got what you asked for; just not what you expected - sorry 'bout that.
Be well...

  • How can I open PDF files?  The usual procedures don't work for me.  Thanks.

How can I open PDF files?  Until a couple of months ago, I had no problem.  Now I can open none of them.  I have Adobe Reader X.  Yesterday I uninstalled Adobe X, restarted the computer, and then reinstalled Adobe X.  No success.  Thanks.

What happens if you open Reader first then use File>Open like Bernd suggested?
Are you sure you are opening them in Reader and not a text editor or MS Word? I ask because Reader will not prompt you for a language.

Copy the text below, including the initial /
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Switch to Finder, then use the Go menu - Go to Folder command & paste in the text, clicking Go afterwards.
A Finder window should open, showing various plug-in files. Trash any that are for Adobe or PDF. You'll be asked for an admin name & password.

  • How can I open pdf in new browser?

Hi, ive been using AS 2.0 here..here's my code in the button
    on(release){
         getURL("sample.pdf","_blank");
its supposed to open the pdf file in a new browser (which it really does)..but it opens it with http://sample.pdf/
of course, the pdf won't open..how can i solve it? i have done uploading the pdf online and put the link in the code but i would be grateful if i can use that code..
    thank you

You need to be testing on a server using a browser.
To view a pdf in a browser you need a pdf reader such as Adobe Acrobat installed for the browser.  Having that allows you to save the file when you are viewing it.
I don't know of anyone that provides free hosting services, although you might check with your ISP... some will offer you server space for personal use..

  • How can I open pdf files in Firefox?

Since reinstalling FF 3.6.13 I can no longer open pdf documents from links in websites or email. I have Foxit Reader plugin but it does not show up in Tools > Options > Applications.
    Firefox 3.6.14 installed. Same problem.
(Please don't make me go back to Internet Explorer.)

I don't know if this is any help I have had a problem where the pdf files were not opening correctly which I think was the problem here. I spent hours of head scratching and have now found out what the problem is. Right click on the Adobe Reader Icon on the desktop. Select properties and then the compatibility tab. You will see the uppermost section in this screen is Compatibility mode. I have Windows 7 and mine was set to Windows XP. I changed that to Windows 7 and now the problem is resolved. In short use the above instructions to check you are using the right compatibility mode for the version of Windows you are using and your troubles should be over!!

  • How can I open PDF files in Firefox? Nothing works no matter what I try. Other browsers open them fine.

I have heard that trying to use Leopard with AppleWorks can cause a corruption of the hard drive. Is this true?
No, not at all. AppleWorks actually runs better in Leopard on both my PPC & Intel Macs than it did in Tiger. I have found AppleWorks to be faster & more stable in Leopard on an Intel than any other system I've used.
I repaired permissions (both before and after installing Leopard) and have also dumped AppleWorks preference file, then restarting all to no avail.
There are more than one AppleWorks preferences to delete. Only deleting the .plist or just the files in the AppleWorks folder in Preferences will not work. They must all be deleted at the same time. Take a look at this user tip, AppleWorks has stopped working correctly.
Deleting the preferences often fixes printing problems. Also, make sure you have the newest driver for your printer from the manufacturer's web site.
I did install Leopard as an update rather than wiping my HD and doing a new install. Should I delete AppleWorks and all associated files and reinstall AppleWorks and reinstall Leopard from scratch?
Possibly. I chose to do erase & install with migrating users & data for all of my Macs. I did try the upgrade with the MacBook Pro & it was a disaster with failure to start up after installing Leopard. I was willing to take the chance because everything on my MacBook Pro is on my desktop Mac.

Did you open Adobe Reader on it's own (not through the browser)? If not, you can find it in your applications folder where all your other programs live. Launch it and accept the EULA.

  • How can I open pdfs with Acrobat directly from Firefox (Android)?

I would like to open pdfs directly with the Acrobat reader app, without downloading it (& saving it in the downloads folder). When I open a pdf, FF offers me several apps or a download, but not the Acrobat Reader, also Acrobat it mentioned as the standard application for opening pdfs.

The file must be downloaded for Adobe reader to be able to display the file. There is no way to display any file without downloading it.
