How can I optimize my browser? I'm having serious issues in Hotmail, forcing me to constantly refresh the page, then I lose all my text when I do!

I'm using Firefox 3.6.8 [& Vista os], and can't find any relevant info in Firefox 'Help' re: optimizing browser.
I wrote Hotmail about my problem below, and they say I need to optimize my browser. They don't give instructions for how to do this in Firefox.... when I search in your 'help' contents, nothing close comes up.
I also have the concern whether someone else is accessing my account, since the error mssg says something to the effect "when you access your acct from more than one computer"....

This is VERY frustrating, to say the least! I have major deadlines, and Hotmail is so bad I can't get my work done!!
Ever since the 'upgrade', I am forced to almost constantly refresh my browser, and then when I do, my email and all my text goes away! Sometimes I am prompted to refresh when I have just logged in.... It asks me to refresh my browser sometimes once a minute.... sometimes more often!
When I hit refresh, it actually causes the current page to disappear, and it comes back as a blank email with all my text gone! And hitting the 'back' button does not bring me back to the page I lost.
Most of the time I can't even save my work as a draft, because it asks me to refresh [again], and then the email is gone and there's no draft to be found.
This is *very* time consuming!! I've had to figure out how to work around this problem, but my 'fix' is also very tedious and time consuming....
I'm constantly copying my text so I have a current copy of my email, then when I lose the draft, I paste it back in... I often go in circles with this, and eventually I'll have my current draft saved.
Also, sometimes when it prompts me to refresh, just hitting the 'save draft' button a few times will suffice. So at least I won't lose my page, because, sometimes hitting 'save draft' actually works.... Eventually, tho, it'll force me to refresh before I can move on to sending the email.
Please help!! I've been using Hotmail since before MS bought it, and this problem is SO bad I'm considering jumping ship so I can get my work done!!
I don't generally like upgrades, as it usually means there will be problems, and the upgrade was released before being fully tested!.... I don't like being a guinea pig, especially when I have deadlines!

You can try to copy the text to the clipboard (Ctrl + A and Ctrl +C) if you need to refresh.
"Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

It start suddenly some days ago. I tried the conventional solutions like setting the home page, upgrading the addons marked for upgrade (although I really didn't want to upgrade the Shockwave flash - every time I do this I have some issue...) etc. but none of them helped me and i couldn't find some setting particulary about this. I'm having an antivirus solution and I doubt this to be some sort of infection.

How can I optimize the performance of my HTML5 project?

The link to my project is below. It is very slow to load most slides until they are cached in the browser. It appears that it is waiting until I advance to the slide in order to download the content. It takes up to 5 seconds to display the content of a slide, and often times it shows the spinning loading icon. With HTML5 output, it automatically converts my 1280x720 images to PNG files which does not help. How can I optimize this project to make everything load faster? Is there a way for Captivate to constantly download slides before you view them? Please let me know if you have suggestions.

Pasting into a blank project is not a nice option because it requires reconfiguring all of the buttons.They all reset to "Continue" when I do that. I would probably need to re-enter the Advanced Actions as well. There's no reason to think that would speed up the application.

How can I have a browser image that scrolls with images on top of it scrolling in tandem - so the background is a hexagon pattern with small images inside some hexagons and I want them all to be scrollable as a user uses the browser scroll bars. At the moment the background image jumps when I preview so the small hexagons all become out of alignment. Any tips appreciated. I have browser image set to tile - pinned at the middle and set to scrolling - the small images are not pinned -

Thanks for your answer - The images on the top layer are also links and change to show they're links on rollover - so I wanted to keep them as separate graphics - and it works to a point but when I preview the page in a browser the tiled browser image always moves no matter how I pin it and then everything becomes unaligned. Unfortunately I have had a problem with everything working slowly since I installed Mavericks. The good people at the Apple store have investigated. They wiped my hard drive and I did a full restore from my Time Machine backup - but the problem came back so I have now wiped again and had to copy all my files over from another back up disc. In doing so I have lost my bookmarks in Safari and Firefox and wonder if somewhere on my back up disc I may have some means of recovering them. The backup is basically a copy of all my files under my login.

panel goes back to the default pane... Is there a way of
controlling this so that the browser can remember the pane that is
open (say set a variable, cookie, other?)

For iTunes purchases only..
Connect the iPhone to your Mac, launch iTunes.
If you haven't done this yet, go to the iTunes menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer
Now from the iTunes menu bar again, click File / Transfer Purchases From...

You need OSX 10.7.2 or higher in order to access icloud. The mobile me account is now defunct (it closed down more than a year ago).

If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up.
You should have a look in:
/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/Extensions
You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple.
