How can I password protect a picture file?

Is ther anyway to password protect picture files?

Not in PSE itself, sorry. The closest (not very close) you can get is to use a hidden tag on it to make it less visible in the organizer, but there are not photo security features in PSE.

    Hi kimberlyb5119003,
To password protect a PDF file, you need to use Acrobat. For instructions, see Acrobat Help | Security

Hey guys, how can i password protect my files in external hard drive? I want to access those files both from mac and windows PC!

If you want a cross-platform solution that doesn't require the use of third-party software, use an external drive with hardware encryption. The device will have either a physical key or a numeric keypad. I don't have a specific recommendation.

How can i password protect my ipad2 email

The pass code is no alternative, because it's disturbing the easy handling of the iPad.
All unsatisfied users should organize protests against Apple. Every missing Dollar makes the company more thinking about their customers. I'm sure that I would change the platform, if there is someone taking care about the wishes of their customers.

  • Could someone please tell me how can I password protect individual folders?

    Hi
I use a MacBook Pro 17" with MacOSX(10.4.7) Could someone please tell me how can I password protect individual folders?
    Thanks
    Adnan Yousuf

    Adnan,
One way to do this is to use Disk Utility to make a password protected disk image of the folder(s) that you need to secure. This is probably the easiest way to do it.
Go to Disk Utility and choose "New Image" and select encryption.

  • How can i password protect some files and web sites?

How can I possword protect some files and web sites on my mac air so others using my laptop can't access them?

Set a password for your user; create other user accounts for when other people want to use it. You can create a "guest" login which gets wiped after every logout, if that's more appropriate for them.

  • Can I password protect a zip file?

Is it possible to encrypt or place a password on a zip file created in the Finder?

not from finder. you can do it from terminal if you wish or use some 3rd part archiving tool like Stuffit . I think it can make password protected zip files. but zip passwords can be cracked. a better option is to use an encrypted disk image instead of a zip file. you can make one with disk utility.

  • How can I password protect specific files?

I have teens using my Mac and sending inappropriate photos, etc., over the internet. I'm trying to save some of the things they've mistakenly left behind on my computer to use as proof of what they're doing. Right now all I get are denials. I don't want them to have access to what I've saved, especially since I have one boy, one girl and I don't want them to see one anothers pictures. Can I set up a file, either in documents or on my desktop that I can password protect?

That would a question for a Mac support forum.

  • I have a Airport Extreme with a 1TB external HD connected to it.  How can I password protect certain files?

I have a Airport Extreme with a 1TB external HD connected to it.  I have it set up so my Macbook Pro and PC's in the house can access it.  i have some files that i would like to protect(sensitive personal info.).  Is there a way that can be done where as certain folders are password protected?  Any advice is appreciated.  Thanks!

Would a good workaround be to use disk utility to set up a password protected sparse image, of course being connected directly to the Mac, then connect the drive to the Airport Extreme?
Then, couldn't one use that drive and protected files as normal on the airport? It would just require one extra step of using a Mac to set things up first.
I disconnected my Airport so cannot check it out for myself.

  • How can I protect my data in numbers from unintentional user of my iPad by other family members? In other words, how can I password protect my numbers and other apps from apple computer company?

I have other members of my family use my iPad for educational/recreational use, young children who may want to play kid games. I don't want them to accdently get into my data stored in the three business apps from apple. I would like to password protect these files.
I would also like to log out of the email systems that I use, so some one else can use this device to access their own emails. By leaving my accounts open al the time, is really asking for trouble from a host of sources.
I can't believe that the iPad is not designed to protect the privacy and data from prying eyes ... Un intuitional as it may be.
Please fix this issue so I create my info on this device and enjoy it fully. Or tell me how I can protect my data.
    Thnax.

Thanx for your response. Any data stored anywhere should be able to be protected from stealing, malicious destruction or unintentional destruction. Theo ad an be stolen and without any kind ofpassword protection, the thief could get into your sensitive data.
If Apple wants iPad to become a business tool that can be used with ideas, thots, data protected, then Apple needs to provide this protection to it's customers. Now it's unto the users to use it or not.
I know iPad is being considered to be used by doctors, and can u imagine the confidentiality requirements of HIPPA rules... It will make this device not usable without data protection. I am sureweall have heard about hacking going on at all levels. It's surprising that this device's software is left unprotected.
My iPad may be sitting on my desk and my 3 year old grand daughter would pick it up and start "playing" with it. That means I can't store anything on this machine that may possibly be changed.
I have discussed this with specialists in apple stores, and those who have been around info technology understand my concerns and they may forward this request further up. They do not have the answer for it..... So far.
I think data security should be everyone's concern... Be it a one person device or multiple user device.
I hope that some responsible people at Apple would read this and provide the protection that will make this device lot more acceptable in the business world.

  • How can I password protect my bookmarks?

Say I have some "adult-themed" bookmarks, how can I prevent others from seeing them? I was just wondering if there was a way to do this?

    You can't do that in Firefox.<br />
Even if you would protect your Firefox profile with a password then it is still possible to copy or inspect files in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Protect your Windows account with a password and create another account for others who use that computer.

  • How can I password protect imbedded folders within an iWeb-created website?

I have read that iWeb will not allow you to password protect individual imbedded content (ex. individual albums or pictures), but, that you can only protect the whole site. I have also read on here that the password protection for the site isn't very good and is easily broken.
Short of creating multiple pages (each password protected) and then linking all the private pages to a public page, is there any easier way to password protect individual items of content rather than the whole site, preferably in a way that can't be "broken" in terms of bypassing the password?
Maybe I need to use a different application to create the website? If so, recommendations?

What kind of content? If you use PDF files you can password protect them when you create them. The same goes for Word documents.

  • How do I password protect a pdf file - getting error messages?

I'm trying to protect a pdf file (i.e. a tax return printed to PDF) with password to open and password to modify. However I'm getting an error message in a pop up window saying..."The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save document with a different name, or in a different folder." I'm using WIN 8.1. and I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI (student / teacher version). This is a standalone PC so I can't imaging someone else is using this file. Also I've tried renaming and saving to a different folder (from the folder the original file is saved). I've also looked at properties of the PDF file and its not tagged as read only. Please advise if I'm missing something. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for responding...I'm getting the same message that I got at first..."The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save document with a different name, or in a different folder."
The next day I emailed the file to my work PC and encrypted it with no problems. I have WIN 7 and am using Acrobat 8.0 there. So the problem seems to be with my new PC here at home (i.e. WIN 8.1 and Acrobat XI). Frustrating. I'm betting its some obscure setting in WIN or Acrobat, that is way over my head. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks again.
