Adnan,
One way to do this is to use Disk Utility to make a password protected disk image of the folder(s) that you need to secure. This is probably the easiest way to do it.
Go to Disk Utility and choose "New Image" and select encryption.

How Can I Password Protect a Shared Folder

Hello. I have a shared folder on our server (Windows Server 03) that I would like to password protect. Is there a way to do that? If I cannot password protect the whole folder, is there a way to password protect a folder inside of that shared folder?

I believe what you want to do is use your active directory users and computers groups to set permissions on this shared folder. Those who are not in a group that has access to this share will get a "access denied" error. The users that do have permissions will either have access to it if they are a part of the domain or will need to enter username/password to gain access.
You can go to the shared folder, right click on it, select properties, use the SHARED and SECURITY tabs to set the local and shared permissions on the folder. If you have more folders inside this one, you can also set permissions on those.
Some things to look up would be:
active directory users and groups
setting windows shared permissions
Take a look at this for starters

There may be 3rd party prodcuts that allows you to set a password on that one folder, but this is how you should do it!

No, sorry. There's no way to do that in a virtual machine. Remember, that OS X is the booted operating system and it has control over your hardware. The virtual machine, as far as OS X is concerned, is just another application running alongside any and all other applications (and really, that IS all it is, just very clever software to emulate a computer within a computer). Any hardware calls from Windows have to go through the virtual machine software interface and then are handled by OS X. OS X does not support using both video subsystems simulataneously, and even if it did (or perhaps will, in future machines) your installation of Windows cannot access ANY hardware directly, so you still would be unable to achieve true native Windows performance.

Set a password for your user; create other user accounts for when other people want to use it. You can create a "guest" login which gets wiped after every logout, if that's more appropriate for them.

Thanx for your response. Any data stored anywhere should be able to be protected from stealing, malicious destruction or unintentional destruction. Theo ad an be stolen and without any kind ofpassword protection, the thief could get into your sensitive data.
If Apple wants iPad to become a business tool that can be used with ideas, thots, data protected, then Apple needs to provide this protection to it's customers. Now it's unto the users to use it or not.
I know iPad is being considered to be used by doctors, and can u imagine the confidentiality requirements of HIPPA rules... It will make this device not usable without data protection. I am sureweall have heard about hacking going on at all levels. It's surprising that this device's software is left unprotected.
My iPad may be sitting on my desk and my 3 year old grand daughter would pick it up and start "playing" with it. That means I can't store anything on this machine that may possibly be changed.
I have discussed this with specialists in apple stores, and those who have been around info technology understand my concerns and they may forward this request further up. They do not have the answer for it..... So far.

I have teens using my Mac and sending inappropriate photos, etc., over the internet. I'm trying to save some of the things they've mistakenly left behind on my computer to use as proof of what they're doing. Right now all I get are denials. I don't want them to have access to what I've saved, especially since I have one boy, one girl and I don't want them to see one anothers pictures. I have it set up so my Macbook Pro and PC's in the house can access it. i have some files that i would like to protect(sensitive personal info.). Would a good workaround be to use disk utility to set up a password protected sparse image, of course being connected directly to the Mac, then connect the drive to the Airport Extreme?
Then, couldn't one use that drive and protected files as normal on the airport? It would just require one extra step of using a Mac to set things up first.
I disconnected my Airport so cannot check it out for myself.

how do you exactly mean that? Do you want to turn the display PHYSICALLY or just turn the desktop picture around? Would be nice to know why do you want it.
Another important question is: Which machine model do you own? Is it a Satellite P100, P200, etc??
