How can I place a "Favorites" tab in the toolbar - ie : like internet explorer has??

There is no provision for a list of "Favorites" (ie : as with internet explorer") with Firefox - this complicates use of realplayer with firefox.

Right click a blank part of the Tab bar and then click Customize. A panel will open and you'll find a number of buttons in there which you can drag onto the toolbar. The Bookmarks button has a white star on it.
Similarly, you can remove elements you don't like including toolbars by dragging them into that panel.
Also, while the panel remains visible, you can re-arrange the layout to your own liking by dragging elements like toolbars and buttons around.
For example, drag the "Home" button from its default position on the right of the Search bar and place it next to the others. Add spacers between buttons by dragging the vertical version between each (''but not between the Back/Forward buttons because they won't work anymore if you do'').
Other things you can do.<br><br>
* Right click a blank part of the tab bar and click "Tabs on top" to remove the checkmark. Tabs will subsequently reappear below the location/search bars.<br><br>
* Repeat the same steps, but click the top one called "Menu bar". This will reinstate the text links at the top. However, you will lose the orange Firefox button if you do that.<br>
Reverse the procedure if you don't like the effect.
The status bar has been removed in Firefox 4.0.x, but you can get it back by installing this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/

  • On Firefox 4, how can I put one "new tab" on the "tab bar" (The + sign) and one next to the "back/forward" buttons (as in FF 3.6)?

On Firefox 4, how can I put one "new tab" on the "tab bar" (The + sign) and one next to the "back/forward" buttons (as in FF 3.6)?
In my current Firefox, the "new tab" icon/item from the "customize" pop-up window menu of items is placed next to my home, back, forward buttons near the top-left of my header (Button 1 for "new tab"). Then, the tab bar automatically come with a small tab (with a + sign) to the right of your last tab opened (so you click on + and a new tab opens. Button 2 for "new tab"). I like to have this "new tab" button twice (as a + mini tab, and next to my "home icon".
When I upgraded to Firefox 4, I seemed to be only able to "customize" or use the "new tab" in one place. Either as an icon next to home button, or as a "+ minitab", but NOT both.
What can I do to put this button in Firefox 4 on BOTH places???
Your help is really appreciated. I want to upgrade, but I want my buttons on both places...
I upgraded to FF 4, but downgraded again just because this feature... that's just me of coarse :-)

  • How can I actually open multiple tabs of the same site, instead of performing the new "switch to tab" action?

For example, sometimes I would like to open multiple tabs of Google Maps to get directions to multiple locations, and I haven't found a way to do so without open a new instance of the browser. Thanks.

This one colors tabs, but the author warns that it doesn't work with other tab-related extensions, so you probably need to keep searching for one that does everything you want:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/colorfultabs/
If you don't find a do-it-all extension, you can modify the tab titles with a userscript that is specific to that website. This is because the tab displays the text designated in the page as its title.
You either could "hard code" the list of words for each of the pages, or you could have a script extract information from the page, for example, the first main heading, or some other predictable bit of data. The script then would insert your preferred wording as the title of the page and Firefox will show that on the tab.
To see how that appears, so you know whether it would be useful, you could do this experiment:
On a web page that has useless tab text, open the Web Console using command+alt+k (Windows: Ctrl+Shift+k). In the line at the bottom next to the caret, paste the following code and press Enter:
    document.title="Magic!";
If you decide you want a script written for this, you could try the request forum on userscripts''.''org:
    [http://userscripts.org/forums/2 Ideas and script requests - Userscripts.org]
Although some people offer small payments, that usually isn't necessary to motivate people to help.
Let me give you a brief warning about that site, though: over the past year, a lot of popular scripts were duplicated and reposted with additional code that hijacks your Facebook account. Be cautious when installing scripts, check the reviews, make sure there are no references to Facebook.

  • How can you open a new tab from the adress bar when located in an app tab ?

When I am in an app tab and I write another url in the address bar, I would like it to be opened in a new tab, not in the app tab, so I don't ruin what I have.
    Is this possible?

You can use "Opt + Return" or middle click the Go (Reload/Stop) button at the right end of the location bar.

  • There was a "new window" and a "new tab" icon that could be dragged from the Customize window to the toolbar. In 7 & 8 there is still a "new window" icon but there is no new tab icon to be found in Customize. Where can I add a "new tab" to the toolbar?

'''bold text''' This feature was there prior to Firefox 7 but now it can't be found.

You can find the New Tab button showing as a '+' on the Tab bar.<br />
You can open the Customize window and drag the New Tab button that shows as a plus sign (+) from the Tab bar on another toolbar and it will become a regular toolbar button like the New Tab button that you have in Firefox 3 versions.<br />
If you can't find the New Tab button then click the "Restore Default Set" button in the Customize window.<br />
If you want the New Tab button at the far right end of the Tab bar then place a flexible space to the left of it.

  • How can I add a particular website to the Windows8 Start Screen. IE has an option but I can't find one for Firefox.

I have a new PC with Windows8 installed.
I would like to add Facebook. twitter and outlook mail etc to the Start Screen.
I do not wish to use the Microsoft 'Apps' as they are all mobile versions and I do not like them. The only way to get these programs on the Start Screen is to add a link to the website direct.
My preferred brower is Firefox but there is no option to add a website to the start screen in firefox, however there is one in Internet Explorer.
Also, if possible, am I able to get the program to just open up in a new tab? rather than new window each time?

There are some Windows 8-specific features in development, but I don't know whether this one is available yet (or when it might be). I wonder whether someone could create an add-on to do it? I didn't see one in a quick search.
If you create the shortcuts using IE, but have Firefox set as your default browser, do those tiles launch the sites in Firefox?
There is a setting to open external links in a new tab in the last active window. I'm not sure whether that extends to the Firefox program icon. Normally, external links follow your preference for links you click inside Firefox, but you also can set their behavior separately as described in this post: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/934541#answer-359719 (it's long, bring coffee).
    Are we getting any closer?

  • How can I see my USB device in the measurement&automation explorer?

I'm trying to use an USB-device with LabView7.0.
I followed the manual "using NI-VISA3.0 to control your USB device" which I found on the NI-webpage.
I generated an .inf file using the VISA driver developement wizard and installed it in the INV folder of my system (I'm using Win2000).
The following problems occured: after I connect my USB device the "add new hardware wizard" pops up and aks for a driver for the new hardware. when I direct it to the folder with the generated .inf file it doesn't accept this file as a driver.
second: the USB device doesn't appear in the measurement&automation explorer. I assume that as long as my device doen't appear there it is not recognized by NI-VISA and the comm
    unication from LV wouldn't work?
How can a make my USB device visible in the meas.&aut. explorer?
    Regards
    Tobias

    Tobias,
In the VISA Driver Development Wizard, you are required to specify the Vendor and Product ID. These numbers are what Windows will use to determine whether a specific driver is appropriate for a given device. If these numbers do not match between your device and the Windows driver (INF file) that you generate, you will see the behavior that you describe. Check to make sure that you are using the appropriate values. Also, did you right click on the INF file and install it as directed in step 2.2.2?
Page 5-87 of the VISA Programmer's reference manual specifies how to do a viOpen to a USB device in RAW mode, but you still need the same sorts of Product ID and Mfg ID that you needed for the INF file generation. Furthermore, if you are communicating with
your instrument directly, you will need to know exactly what command set it expects, so make sure you get that from the manufacturer as well. Finally, I want to mention that if this device complies with the USBTMC standard, then none of this is necessary--the steps above are for setting up a RAW USB connection. See this link for information.

  • How can I get photo templates in iWeb to display on Windows Internet Explorer?

I am creating a web site, using iWeb 3 (latest version), for a friend's band.  I have created a Photos page, using the My Album template.  I have also created various bio pages, using the Photo template.  When I tesy the pages on my virtual Windows maching, with Internet Explorer 9, I can only see the text and no photos.  Anyone have a similar problem and a solution, being to continue to use the iWeb page templates?
    Thanks in advance
    WeetMab

    virtual Windows
you can not depend virtual machine, it's an emulator and emulator is not the real thing... just like open a web page in safari and use develop --> user agent.
you have to test it out with a real pc and real ie browser.
iweb photos/albums page are loaded with javascript widgets, so turn on javascript in you pc/browser.
optimize photos/albums page will have no effects with javascript widgets.
fact check people, a lot thing won't when javascript is off... start out with navbar...

  • How can I place multiple choice boxes on the same line instead of in a column?

I know it is possible to place multiple fields on the same line, using drag and drop.
But to save space, I would like to have 3 or 4 multiple choice boxes next to each other on one line.
Is this possible, and if so, how?
    Thanks
    Peter

You may click on the "+" button to the right of the first multiple choice box to add more in the same line. When you hover over the button, the tooltip says "insert item beside".

  • How can I return my new tab to the default blank page?

My brother did something which made the new tab page a Yahoo search page. I'd much rather it be the blank page, selecting the address bar. I downloaded the newtabURL add-on and selected the option blank page, highlighting the URL, along with some other stuff and saved it. When I restarted though, Yahoo was still my default new tab option.
I have no idea where this is coming from, I've checked my add-on list, control panel, and extensions list and cannot find anywhere he set Yahoo to do this.
Thanks in advance for your help, and please state some of the obvious solutions I might have overlooked.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • How can I create a new User with the Java API like OIDDAS do?

    Hello,
I'm currently working on an BPEL based process. And i need to create an OCS user. So far I can create an user in the OID. But I cant find any documentation about given this user an email account, calendar and content function etc.
Did anybody know if there are some OIDDAS Webservices? Or did anybody know how to do this using the Java APIs?

You are asking about a Database User I hope.
You can look into the Oracle 8i Documentation and find various privillages listed.
    In particular, you may find:
Chapter 27 Privileges, Roles, and Security Policies
    an intresting chapter.
You may want to do this with the various tools included with 8i - including the
Oracle DBA Studio - expand the Security node and you can create USERS and ROLES.
Or use SQL*Plus. To create a
user / password named John / Smith, you would login to SQL*Plus as System/manager (or other) and type in:
    Create user John identified by Smith;
    Grant CONNECT to John;
    Grant SELECT ANY TABLE to John;
    commit;
There is much more you can do
    depending on your needs.
    Please read the documentation.
    -John
