How can i place text boxes closer together in pages

I have a shape in pages and I am trying to place names inside of the shape. I would like th fonts to be bigger they are too far apart. As soon as I try to make the font bigger they cancel each other out.

If you aren't seeing the Inspector window, type Option-Command-I. Then locate the Inspector Window and click on the third tab.

No, not afaik. It behaves like any other external editor. You do not need to have it running in the background all the time. Just activate it from the contextual menu after ctrl-clicking the image you want to annotate and select "Edit with plug-in -> BorderFX" from the pop-up menu (or Photos -> Edit with plug-in -> BorderFX) .
Corky02 really said it all - the only draw back is that this plug-in really is more like an export plug-in and the edited version will create a new master.

How can I wrap text in a pie in pages?

If you need to insert text into a shape like a pie wedge, the easiest way might be to simply use the shape - freeform tool (at the bottom of the shape menu) and create a shape and type your text in it then place the shape over your pie wedge. The text within the shape should wrap - additional controls for text can be used with the Text Inspector.
You can edit the actual shape with Format Object > Make Shape Editable option but unfortunately, you have an option to make straight or smooth curves, but not both, so you'll need to shape the object using smooth curves and use the the bezier controls that appear as you select a control point.

I'm not really sure with Netscape browsers but with IE 4.0 and above there are two properties you can add to the <input> tag. They are Disabled and Readonly:
<INPUT TYPE="text" VALUE="testing" DISABLED />

The Textbox doesn't disappear.
The text in the Textbox is pushed away by the Textwrap on the other Textbox/es.
Generally, with the Textbox/es selected:
Toolbar > Format > Arrange > Text Wrap > None

In the previous version of Pages if your text exceeded the length of the column, there was a little icon to the right of the column where you could click to have the remaining text continue to another column on another page. I don't see any option to continue the text once you've run out of space. How can this be done in the new verio

How can I place text from an external file as an updatable link?

Currently we create presentation documents InDesign. Each presentation page is a linked Illustrator file (the file contains drawings and description texts). We write the text in Illustrator instead of over it in InDesign because multiple designers/writers will work on each page. We have text that sometimes appear on multiple pages, this text has previously been copied and pasted into each Illustrator file that it needs to appear in, this is inefficient and prone to error.
Is there a way to link to a text file in Illustrator that remains updatable? I poked around here and found information relating to Variable Data – things similar to Data Merge in InDesign. This isn't the solution I'm looking for however. It seems like a plugin or script is the solution.

I have to imagine that you have good reasons for structuring the workflow as you describe. However, this:

doesn't make sense to me. Between the two, InDesign, (particularly CS6), is far more capable of efficiently supporting a linked-single-source-of-text workflow than Illustrator...without any additional plugins or scripts.

I already got the text field to expand after i am able to type but when I go to preview the field does not flow to the next page. It hides behind the content I have on page two. How do I get the text field to push the content below it when it expands?

The main content area needs to be set to flowed.
If you want your content to push down as you enter text it needs to be a subform

I recently changed to Lion. When I try to copy pdf text from either Preview or Adobe reader into either Pages or Microsoft Word I get all undecipherable characters. This did not happen in previous OSX versions. Is there a fix?

I have found that some pdf's are "protected" so that it is not possible to copy text. Does this happen to all your pdfs, or just some?

What exactly do you mean "wrap text in a circle"? Wrap around a circular object such as a text object, like this:
Just insert the object from the insert menu > Shapes.
If you mean something else, yo will need to be a little more detailed.

Is there a way to place a word document into InDesign that autoflows text boxes onto every other page?
Example
page 1 from word doc imports to page 1 in indesign,
page 2 from word doc imports to page 3 in indesign,
page 3 from word doc imports to page 5 in indesign, etc.
Than, take a different word doc and import to the even pages of the same indesign document,
Example
page 1 from word doc#2 imports to page 2 in indesign,
page 2 from word doc#2 imports to page 4 in indesign,
page 3 from word doc#2 imports to page 6 in indesign, etc.

I don't import Word docs... but I don't think there is a simple 1-click solution.
You probably need to set up a facing pages document with a master text frame on each.
Create the pages you need and link the left text frames to each other and the right to each other.
Importing should work from there however not sure how the page-break works (if you have that set-up in Word).

Hi Alan,
TextField objects can expand dynamically. There are a few things that you need to do:
1. The TextField object should be contained in a subform that is set to Content: Flowed. This isn't technically necessary, but if you have anything below the expanding text box and the subform is set to Positioned, the text will expand and overlay what's below.
2. On the Field tab of the text field's Object property tab, check the Allow Multiple Lines checkbox
3. On the Layout tab, check the Expand To Fit checkbox under Y:/Height
4. Set the PDF Render Format under Form Properties/Defaults to Dynamic XML Form. If you're previewing in Designer, don't forget to set the preview to Dynamic too.

It is possible. Add your text fields and in their Properties set them to have Rich Text Contents (under Options). This will allow the users to specify all kinds of formatting settings for those fields (by pressing Ctrl+E and using the Properties bar).
