How can I play a PAL DVD in an NTSC region?
I just ordered a DVD manufactured solely in PAL format. I know it would require a multi-format player if I wanted to watch it on the television, but if I was going to play it off my Macbook Pro, do I need to have special software, or will my Macbook recognise the change in region format and adjust accordingly? I bought my Macbook new in 2010, version 10.6.8 (if that means anything at all).
Hi Sunshine,
the region code can be changed only 5 times. The solution for you is to use VLC which ignores the Region Code.
Just watch following youtube code to understand what to do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1SrwcHOMcA

Exporting problem: How can I make a PAL DVD with NTSC footage?
Hi everyone,
I need some help as I've been trying to burn a DVD for a couple of days now but it still isn't working. Here is my situation:
I shot a lot of standard definition DV with my Canon GL-2 (NTSC, bought in America) that I imported into the trial version of Premiere 5.5.
I edited the footage and set out to make a DVD with the footage that will play on PAL televisions as I live in Australia now and it's all PAL over here.
I exported the footage and put it onto Windows DVD Maker because the trial version of Premiere doesn't let you use Encore.
The footage looked great on Premiere and on the little preview that you get through Windows DVD Maker, but when I burnt the DVD and tried playing it on my TV it looked really bad.
The big problem was the color. Everything was much too red, particularly people's faces.
I assume the problem lies in my export settings, and I was hoping someome who has done this before could help me out. I tried a variety of settings, but they all looked bad and I'd prefer not to waste any more money on DVDs that look like hell.
Is there anyone out there who can tell me how I can get the DVD to look like it does on my computer? What setting would I need to apply? I have been all over the internet, looking at a lot of tutorials and forums, but havent found an answer yet.
Thanks a bunch!
Shawn
PS- My academic credentials have now been verified by Adobe, so if you know a way to do this using Encore, please let me know because in a few hours I will have access to that as well. Cheers!Hey shooternz, thanks for the fast reply.
My DVD player is playing the DVDs so that's OK, the real problem is that they look so bad. I just bought a whole mess of DVDs because I thought I would just experiment while I was waiting to see if anyone could help me out, and the results have been frustrating. I tried it with all PAL settings and the first DVD I made was much better. That one didnt have all of the sections, just one of the chapters (I wanted to check quickly whether the setting I had was a good one, so I just put a short 7 minute clip on). Encouraged, I tried burning the whole disc using the same settings, but it came out crappy again. Much too red. This is really frustrating me. My computer is new, so I can't see why there would be any problem with the DVD burner, but if two DVDs with the same export settings are coming out differently, I'm thinking it might have to be a problem with either the DVD burner or the DVDs?
Can anybody suggest anything? I'm dying here. -
How can I play a data dvd on a dvd player?
hi,
can someone tell me how i can play a data dvd on a dvd player?Hi
Like Jaba already said please be more specific if you want to have a concrete answer.
If you have data like movies in different formats (avi, mpg divx) you must use just right player on your unit (check if some codecs must be installed before).
On external DVD player is the same. Most of players can handle with mpg format. With avi or divx can be some problem if those formats are not supported. If you want to watch photos I am sure that almost every DVD player can handle with jpeg format.

How can I play Power Point DVDs that were created on my mac 7-10 years ago?
I cannot play DVDs that were created 7-10 years ago using Power Point for Mac.
What do you mean Keynote "son't open the DVDs"? That doesn't make sense. It's not up to Keynote to open the DVDs. The file that are ON the DVDs, yes. The DVDs, no. What kind of files are they, exactly?
Try downloading Open Office and see if you can open them with Impress, the presentation program included with the Open Office package.
If that won't work, you can get a 1 month trial of Office365 from Microsoft. It's $9.99 a month after the trial ends. -
How can i play pc dvd on mac pro. Latest update
If it contains Windows software, you need to use Windows, CrossOver Mac, or Wine. If not, it depends on the file types it contains.

How can I play music on my macbook pro (OSX Lion) through a Pioneer receiver? I've connected them with a mini display port to HDMI cable with audio support bought at the Apple Store, but there's no sound coming through. There are 4 HDMI-in ports on the receiver - BD, DVD, DVR/BDR and audio. In my system preferences for sound, the receiver doesn't show up as an output option. Can anyone please advise. (ps, this is my first time posting a question, so I hope I can find your answers!) thanks, JP downunder
For sound, try the audio output port and connecting to the RCA audio input ports on your Pioneer receiver. Use something like this:

Will my Superdrive play a PAL DVD ?
I have the opportunity to purchase a DVD that I haven't been able to find anywhere for quite some time. The problem is that, according to the description, it is only available in this form: "Region Encoding: ALL, TV system: PAL" .
Since my TV is NTSC (and so is my LG DVD player), I figured I was out of luck. I then thought of my iMac G5 - Will this DVD play on my iMac ?
Walt
20" iMacG5 Mac OS X (10.4.8) 160gbHD, 1.25gbRAMAs Niel mentions, your iMac will play that PAL DVD, but keep in mind that it will be listed as a different region code. Your DVD drive can be switched up to 5 times before it gets locked into that last region. That could be a bad thing.
I bought a PAL concert DVD for a friend and took a different route. I used Handbrake to extract the image, then used iMovie to edit it with transitions and such, then used iDVD to create a disk with menus and everything. It looked very nice if I do not say so myself. -
Re AppleMan 1958 excellent user tip: How can I import a homemade DVD into iMovie for editing? -
I've followed instructions with success until "You can then FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME and choose Apple Intermediate Codec as your video codec. " How do I do that?
I installed MGEG Streamclip 193b8 and used their utility to install quicktimempeg2 and got a message stating it was successfully installed. (I'm on latest Maverick 10.9.2 on iMac) Then I dragged the VIDEO_TS file from my home DVD into the streamclip app. It asked which of 4 files to use, and I selected the first one. Streamclip played the video with the sound. so far so good. but now I cannot figure how to use quicktime player 10.3 to export this vob file out of streamclip.Thank you for your quick reply and for clearing up my confusion. I'm exporting the first section now. I choose the smallest size, 3x4 but I'd prefer to go higher as this DVD was originally a VHS home movie. I'm wondering if after three conversions (VHS,->DVD->MPEG) the resolution will be so poor as to not support a larger size frame? If it can, what size should I select when I export?

Can iMOVIE HD convert a PAL DVD to a NTSC DVD?
That was all! Can iMOVIE HD convert a PAL DVD to a NTSC DVD? That's my only question. Thanks.
Hi
A. Commersial DVDs - No Not at all - Not even legal to discuss.
B. Home made DVDs (without copy protection)
NTSC ---> PAL.
• Most often not necessary - Most stand alone PAL-DVD players playback NTSC
(if TV is old in BL/W)
PAL ---> NTSC.
• If played on Mac - not necessary AT ALL
• If on NTSC-DVD-player - CONVERSION IS NEEDED - nearly no Stand alone NTSC-DVD-players
playback PAL at all.
To do this You need to conver the PAL DVD to streaming.DV
• I use Roxio Toast™ to do this (There are no free converter)
• MPEG Streamclip (free on internet) to convert to NTSC
• Set up an NTSC project (29.97fps or 30) in iDVD and import then burn
I burn to
• Verbatim DVD-R
• Set down burn speed in iDVD to x1 or x4 recommended by many
• Secure a minimum of 25Gb free space on internal boot hard disk before burning (IMPORTANT)

How can I "burn" a music DVD on my I-Mac?
How can I burn a music DVD on my I-Mac to play in my auto DVD/CD player?
I answered your question in your other thread:

There is no way to do it in iTunes that I know of - you can only burn CDs there. You do need other software to burn to a music DVD. -

Hi Grandmaz5,
If you are having issues connecting to Facebook on your iPad, and you have already troubleshot the Facebook app itself, you may want to check the built-in iOS settings for Facebook; you may find the following article helpful:

How can I play album songs in correct sequence?
How can I play album songs in their correct sequence -- without having to create a playlist for each album? I like to play songs from my primary "Music" Library, sorting to albums or songs via it.
I've imported songs from albums that for some reason do not play in proper sequence: I'll sort the Library by "Album" but, even though the tracks are correctly sequenced in the "Get Info" box (Track Number "x" of "x"), they always play in some other order.
I have tried all the sorting choices under "Album" but to no avail. Any ideas?
I know I can rearrange the songs by click-and-drag -- IF I create a playlist and then re-order them. Really??
I hate to say it (as a decades-long Mac addict) but iTunes is becoming less and less a worthy organizing tool/database and more and more just a sales tool/gimmick.My problem might be solved. For anyone similarly troubled, I found this in the iTunes Windows forum from a member named Turingtest2:
See my previous post on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic Tracks out of sequence.
