How can I prevent Firefox from cutting off the title of a webpage for use as a file name when printing/saving as PDF if there's a / in it?

Like it says in the question - when I try to print/save a webpage as a PDF, Firefox (version 36.0, Windows 8.1 64bit, German) usually uses the page's title as the file name. Slashes are, of course, not allowed in file names, but instead of just leaving leaving it out or replacing it with a hyphen, the title is cut off and everything before the last slash is gone, which in some cases results in very odd and misleading file names.
Is this a known bug? I couldn't find anything. So I'm just wondering if there's either going to be a fix anytime soon, or whether there is a simpler solution than to generate a different title sans slashes specifically for Firefox users.

There is more than one proxy type. 
Only an anonymous proxy will hide the IP and build two connections, one between you and the proxy and a second connection between the proxy and the website that uses an IP from that proxy. 
A normal proxy merely passes all traffic without affecting it, so websites see your IP in such a case.

I'm not sure what you mean by "re-directs e-mails." Are the recipient addresses changing between the time you address the message and the time it is sent?

When you use Firefox to work with your webmail site, whether Yahoo! or Gmail or another, the mechanics of sending the mail are handled by the site itself. So if there is a problem with how messages are addressed, then you may need to check your Yahoo! mail settings.

IMO, the biggest problem with Flash is that it is set by default to only look for an update once a month. There has been a change in where Firefox searches for plugins and the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder is no longer scanned for plugins, so Firefox won't find them anymore if they are installed in the plugins folder instead of the "browser\plugins" folder that Firefox now scans.
You can set the plugins.load_appdir_plugins pref to true on the about:config page to make Firefox scan the "<install>/plugins/" directory for plugins like the WMP plugin (np-mswmp.dll).
You can alternatively move plugins from "<install directory>\plugins\" to "<install directory>\browser\plugins\" (create this folder when missing) to make Firefox find them again.

How can I prevent Firefox from automatically updating?

I am trying to prevent Firefox 28 from automatically updating to Firefox 29 (on OSX 10.7.5).
I have the option "Never check for updates" checked under 'Update' in the 'Advanced' Preferences. I have "Automatically update Search Engines" unchecked. I have uninstalled Firefox 29 completely using two separate uninstall clean-up kits and emptied the trash before re-installing Firefox 28... Yet every time I finally re-arrange, customize and re-sync Firefox 28 back to the way I like it, I restart my Mac and Firefox 29 rears it's over-drawn, bubbly, space-wasting, UN-SYNCED, ridiculous tabs on top nonsense user interface.
I've tried to work with Firefox 29 but the new SYNC simply does not work and that's a deal breaker. I need the changes I make on my mac to be reflected across the other two systems on my desk (one WinXP, one Win7) and vice versa. When I try to sync on FF29 it takes me to a page to log in and then refuses to recognize my email and password (which I have thoroughly confirmed on my other systems as correct).
Can you please help me prevent Firefox 28 from automatically updating to Firefox 29?

So which secret magic setting has Mozilla used to bypass all these settings and what gives them the right to do it?
Also, moving the tabs bar and menu bar and whatever else has been moved in Firefox 29 is a THEME change. It is not a security fix. Mozilla should not be in the business of changing the theme or look of Firefox. It is not their business how I want my Firefox to look.
Regarding "tabs", I have mine down the left side, so this tweaking of the tab bar position is pointless anyway.
To Mozilla, Just for absolute clarification, there is no way you can possibly justify forcing an update on users computers without their explicit acceptance.
What if someone found out how Mozilla forced the update? They could then force an update that is NOT a genuine Firefox release and do untold damage to peoples' computers.
So now I am forced to delete Firefox from my startup script and start it manually just in case their is another forced update that I can stop.

How can I prevent firefox from displaying an overall black page after I request a topic search in the google/firefox search box? Not able to see results

I loaded Mozilla v31 on my PC laptop which uses Windows XP operating system with all current updates. When I click on my internet icon, it leads me to the Mozilla page with a Google search bar. Some graphical glitches are caused by an incompatibility between Firefox and your graphics card drivers. The standard workaround for bypassing this is to disable Firefox from using hardware acceleration. You can make that change here:

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
That will take effect the next time you exit Firefox and start it up again.

How can I prevent Firefox from opening the file I create when I print a page with PDF Create! 5

After I print a web page using PDF Create! 5, Firefox opens the file so i can view it. Before I print, I select print properties and disable "view resulting pdf". However, the file is always opened in Adobe Acrobat, although I believe I have Adobe Reader set as default. I do not want any file to open. This happens on my non-privileged accounts. On my privileged account, the file is not opened. I have removed Firefox profiles, re-installed Firefox, Reset Firefox in Help-Troubleshooting. PDF Create!5 print screen can only be viewed in a host program such as Firefox, Libre-office Writer, or any other program that prints. They do not open the file either.

Thanks for your help. This is the Scansoft (Nuance) program. What I do not understand is why when I tell the print driver not to open the file with a privileged account, it obeys me. I am not sure where in the registry I would look for the information. I do not want to, but perhaps I should remove the Adobe Acrobat program (temporarily?) - then what would it do? Again, when I print from other programs - browsers, wordprocessors, etc - the file is not opened after printing, just with FireFox. I guess I can live with it, I have spent too much time already.

How can I prevent Firefox from shutting down to 5% when inactive?

My computer (running Win8, FF 22.0, just installed) is set for maximum performance, which means it enters sleep mode only when I tell it to. But recently FF 21.0 and 22.0 has started shutting down to 5% of its normal operating memory use after as little as 60 seconds or so of inactivity. Then when I try to use it, it will SLOWLY reload, sometimes taking as long as 5 minutes or more! This is a relatively new behavior and a basically intolerable one. I cannot find any setting under Tools that addresses this, and the right click on the icon upper left now only deals with resizing. I do not want to go back to IE and have never liked Chrome at all, so I would hate to leave FF but I simply cannot continue to wait several minutes do do everything.

How can I prevent Firefox from suggesting updates for a certain add-on?

One of the extensions I use has relaesed a new version that contains changes that I do not want. I would like to keep the old, previous version. The add-on update check in Firefox however enables the "include this update" checkbox every time it checks for updates. Is there a way to selectively disable updates for this add-on permanently?

Its loading a page before even i type in the right URL. how can i prevent forefox from automatically loading the suggested page before i hit enter?

when i type in address bar, its great that the url is automatically filled in based on the history of browsing. but i dont want the page to be loading at the same instant. for ex. if i want to type thehindu.com, once i type 't' its taking for granted that i am typing thermopedia.com and completes the url and loads the page at the same time. I appreciate the url suggestion but not the page loading at the same time. this wastes my data usage (Highly inefficient).
To complicate the problem, when i type the second letter sometimes it gets appended to the already auto completed url and heads to search for the completely messy words in the default search engine.

How can I prevent apps from syncing in the new iTunes?

I brang my macbook to Applestore cause it had a problem and they downloaded the latest version of itunes. Everything's fine and my music, videos and apps are in the new itunes like before. But now, when I want to sync my ipod touch, a pop window asks me to give the password of the itunes account I used to download some of my apps or it will delete them and their data. The problem is that one of these accounts is an old friend's one and I actually lost all contact with him. So basically now I can't sync my iphone at all or it will delete all my apps.
Has anyone any idea how to sort that out? Or at least knows how to prevent apps from syncing in this new version of itunes?
