My dad has a hosting account with Jumpline and can have an infinite amount of websites with unlimited storage (type of account is no long available fyi), so we have it set up on his end (thanks to help from a true IT guy, but he is a PC IT guy) but now I need to know what to do to publish the site from the iweb end... I am not familiar with ftp or much of anything with hosting and servers, etc. I have the user information, password and a location of where the website is set up at on the Jumpline server but again just not sure how to go about this in iweb. That's exactly what you would get. Create a folder with a suitable name: publish to it. Zip it; email it. Tell them to start with the 'index.html' file inside the folder. The rest will follow - they will see it exactly as they would see an online site, links and all.

The inbuilt facility to do this disappeared with the demise of MobileMe. It is possible: some ISPs offer this facility (GoDaddy is one) so you should start by checking whether yours does.
If not, you can do it yourself provided your ISP allows you to add an .htaccess file to your foldere - not all do. Also it's not entirely straighforward if you are unfamiliar with the techniques involved.

How can I import my iWeb sites??????

I had a crash trying to install Leopard.
I have reinstalled the original OS with my new Intel iMac. BUT - how can I get my web sites back into iWeb? I REALLY do not want to have to recreate all these pages! It's insane! Is it just ME, or is there absolutely NO WAY to import my stuff in the folder (which I backed up, luckily)? Or do I have to recreate the sites YET AGAIN? Is there no way to make separate web sites so that they don't have to ALL be published in the same folder and have to save and resave and resave EVERYTHING over and over every time I do a new page, or update or whatever. It's maddening.

I just checked it out and it sounds too good to be true.
I won't do anything with it until I have Leopard installed, but it's great to know it's there and the PRICE IS RIGHT!
Also, about my install: We bought a 5 pack license and made a copy for me. SOMEONE didn't verify the disk and it obviously had a glitch. When it was checked it got to about 30% and I got a message that the disk wouldn't work. So I clicked whatever buttons I was told to and then got the blue/grey screen. It sat there so long I had to turn it off with the button. Perhaps it was trying to reset everything to before I tried the install, I don't know. So, the problem wasn't necessarily Leopard and my computer, but the disk to start with and perhaps I compounded it by not waiting for 28 hours for it to fix itself <G>. Anyway, I have to kick myself for not doing a back up of EVERYTHING, and my famous last words were "Nothing ever screws up with a mac."
Lesson learned. I will have a 500G hard drive next week and this will never happen again.
I will also disconnect all peripherals as I saw some people suggested that was causing problems. But, what is MOST annoying after the data loss is all the TIME that it takes to do this. I have work to do on this darned machine!

How can I upload my iWeb site to 2 different domain addresses?

I have two different domain names, but I want to publish one iWeb site to both addresses.
I can't work out how to do it, I was thinking to duplicate the whole site but using the other address. Then I would have to make indiviual changes to both sites when updating content etc.
There must be an easier way to do this, I am missing something?

Your info says you use iWeb 08.
That means you publish to a folder.
If so, iWeb is not involved. You decide what to do with the published files on the desktop.
With iWeb 09 you only have one FTP address. To publish to another server you have to change the publish info.
But everytime you do that, iWeb will publish the entire site.
You can't have both. iWeb was not meant for that.
Anyway, you provided the solution yourself : duplicate websites for each server.
There's actually no need to make the changes in each site.
Make changes in one site, and duplicate the page to the other site.
Then publish.

Everytime I create a new site and publish it to a folder (to place in my own domain) iWeb publishes ALL of the sites every time, no matter whether changes have been made to any site or not.

I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.

How can I publist my iWeb site to a Windows Server? (FTP is not an option, neither is a Linux server))

So I need to publish my iWeb site to a Windows server on a secure I can't access directly. I believe I need to export my iWeb site to a local folder on my Mac, then transfer those files to the computer that has access to the server.
I tried this earlier today with the tech in charge of the system and we had trouble getting the files uploaded.
I don't get any error messages, the new site simply doesn't show up.
Can anyone offer any help here? I know that iWeb users have had problems uploading to Windows servers, but If you know of specific work-arounds to the problems encountered, please let me know.

What ftp programme are you using to upload the site?
Also, where are the files being placed on the server - if they are not in the root folder on the server then they might not show up - (root folder could be anything from "public_html", "www", or "htdocs". This differs on all servers).
Also, when you published the site from iWeb to a local folder did you see all the files that iWeb produces - did you see firstly the Site folder, the separate index file? If you did, did you transfer this folder and file to the computer in question?
When you uploaded the site did you upload the whole site folder? If so, then you also need to upload the separate index file so that it points into the site folder - this needs to sit outside the site folder itself so that it points to the index file in the site folder.
If you don't want to upload like this, then what you can do is simply upload the contents of the site folder instead of the whole folder itself and place all the contents of the site folder - that being all the html file and the resultant css folders for each page to the server instead.

Hi, I've been trying to publish my iWeb site (not on a .Mac account but through ftp upload) but it hasn't worked out so far... I phoned my webspace provider's support service and the wguy I spoke to was convinced that it's due to the index file not being an .html file (he thought that the problem lies with the index.xml.gz file). Searching the discussions on this site, I figure that this isn't what's causing the problem after all...
To continue working on the site while using another computer, I copied the 'Domain' over. Now that I've brought it back to the original computer, it seems to be causing these problems. Any idas what I could do or where the problem lies? I'd be really grateful for any hints as it's driving me 'round the bend! Cheers, A

Did you name any of your site's pages "index"? That can cause problems.
Are you able to publish your site to afolder on your hard drive and open it locally with your browser? If you haven't tried do so and see if you can. If you can and the site works as you designed it then the issue is in the uploading of the files.
In that case you might try using Cyberduck to upload your site folder and index.html file to your server.

it is not possible at all. iCloud has no Gallery, no Website and lacks also lots of other features of MobileMe.
Refer to what has already posted here to find alternatives. iWeb however will continue to work in Lion, so it is not a program issue. You just need to find some ftp hoster that you can use with iWeb.

I remember once I could publish my website on my local folder and then share it with a friend by sending the link. Now when I publish my website on my local folder I only get a local file. and no httpp address. If I go and visit the webaddress that appear on my search bar is file:///Users/... How can I make it http so that a friend can see it before I actually publish it with a proper domani www..

The website files have to be on an online server for them to be viewable by others.
There are some free hosting servers available. Most will put adds at the top of your site but might be sufficient for your purpose. Just do a Google search for "free website hosting" to get a list of them.
You might try setting up Web Sharing on your computer in the System/Sharing preference pane. It may or may not work depending on your internet provider:
Wyodor has used this method and can probably give you more info on how to set it up.
If you haven't purchased your domain name nor hosting service look at HostExcellence.com. It has a couple of packages that offer free domain names, unlimited storage and band with, email addresses. The Unlimited Business package is currently at $8/mo (a bit less than MobileMe was) and offers 3 free domain names. The economy package offers just 1 domain name at $4/mo.

Hard drive had to be wiped - I did have a backup up of my "published" site, but not the ".sites" file that resides in the Apllication Support/iweb folder.
Anything I can do besides spending an entire day to rebuild from scratch?
By the way, how does Apple not recognize the ABSURDITY of not being able to save a file of your project?
It's also RIDICULOUS that you buy the iweb software but apparently can only design and upload 1 website. No other program works like. Has anyone at Apple ever responded to the criticism? (because I know I am not the first to find these features incredibly annoying)

Unfortunately if you don't have a copy of the Domain.sites2 file you will have to rebuild your site from scratch. Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the creation of the new site.

Where did you get that idea? I have domain files with 5 or 6 sites in them. However, only one can be published at a time. The capability of managing multisites in iWeb has been around since iWeb Version 1. Here's the contents of just one of my many Domain.sites2 files:
