It continously downloads the podcasts (not really sure when, that's the only thing, when its downloading it may use data depending on where you are) and also deletes the ones i have listened to. If you synced your iPhone with the same iTunes library on the same computer you have been syncing your iPhone with, not sure how some of the music was lost. If you tried to sync your iPhone with a different iTunes library on another computer, all iTunes content on your iPhone would have been erased first, not just some.
All iTunes content on your iPhone including all music should be in your iTunes library on your computer.

Connect your iPhone to your computer and open iTunes.
Click the button with your device's name, below the search window on the top right.
In the main iTunes browser window, select Music.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion. Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some strange reason you have failed to backup ( not good at all), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

How can i put podcasts and songs in my playlist?

I know this issue came up in the last update, but the solution does not seem to work anymore. I want/need to put podcasts into my itunes playlists. The Podcast app takes all the podcasts out of iTunes and will not allow them to be played in playlists in the iPhone 5s. I tried uninstalling the Podcast app and then restarting the phone. That used to work but apparently does not work any more. I'm sure there is a simple answer but I could not get any help from Apple support. Any suggestions???

Apparently ITunes match/cloud will only let me download full albums and not indivudial songs which it used to. So I'm trying to put on songs one by one the old school style, yet several non-itunes purchased songs won't go on to the phone? Seems odd that I can't do this, also odd that this is an issue. Any help would be appreciated. Going through 2000 songs individually is rather tedious.

Also, why can't you manually put on songs, and give yourself the abilty to download individual songs from the cloud. Maybe I just don't know how to do it because it seems like an obvious function right?

When i try to now sinc the music to my phone it is telling me my itunes library is on another computer and to download new music ifrom my laptop I must delete everything off my iphone. is there anyway i can download the music without having to delete everything of my iphone?

I want to use one family Macbook pro for downloading photos from two iphones with separate apple IDs. In other words, we'd like to have all our photos stored in one library on the Macbook. Possible, and if so how does one set it up?

If you use iPhoto on the Macbook you can merge the photos from multiple cameras (iPhones) into one library. The Apple Id is irrelevant for this.

The newest version of itunes seems to be a little more difficult to do this than past versions. I plug in my iphone to my computer and it does not allow me to "drag" songs into my iphone option anymore. Help!

Select the phone in the device list in iTunes, navigate to the music tab, check the music you want iTunes to sync with your phone, click the apply/sync button.
