How can I put these files from my dropbox into MS Word?
After using migration assistant, I had 2 user accounts set up by accident. I finally figured out how to move/share files from the cloned user account to my new account. Anyway, I moved all my music and pictures into itunes and iphoto, but now, how & where do I drag and drop my pdf, excel, & word files into Microsoft Office? I am a new apple user, converting from a PC. Here is a picture of the Drop Box. Thank you
Similar to a PC, you can open Word, Excel, etc., and use the File/Open command to navigate to any folder, including that drop box, to open files. Also similar to a PC, you can store Microsoft Office files in any folder inside your Documents folder, so you can simply drag your Office files out of the drop box and into whatever project folders you have created within your Documents folder, and then open them in Office from there.
You can also open any of these documents in Word or Excel by dragging them to the appropriate application icon if they are visible, or if you have added Word, Excel, etc. application icons to the Dock you can drag the documents there too. That last part is much like on a PC where you drag a document from any folder to an application icon in the Windows Taskbar.
As you can see there is actually very little difference in how this works between a PC and a Mac.

im listening to a podcast that isnt on itunes. I put the feed in the first night i listened to it and downloaded the 4 most recent episodes. i went back a few days later and downloaded 8 older shows but i got them straight from their website, not through itunes because they arent listed on the podcast directory. how do i take those 8 files and add them to the podcast section with the other 8 episodes?

i bought an iMac, and would like to migrate all data from my old Acer aspire one over to the mac
i tried thru wireless ------ too dumb for it - or to bad step by step guides to do it
same for connecting the two by ethernet....
can someone guide a dummy thru this pls?Do you have a USB flash drive or an external hard drive, if so then plug it in to your USB port on your Acer and copy your my documents folder to to the drive. After ejecting the drive insert it into the Mac and copy the files into your home folder. I would copy folder to folder from drive, for example; your documents folder files from Acer to Mac documents folder and so forth.

How can I put my music from iTunes Gallery into my iPod?
I had another iPod which broke, so I exchanged it for another one. On the previous iPod, I had purchased music which were stored on my iTunes gallery. Now, I can't put the music back into my newer iPod. Helpp?
Unfortunately, when I plug it in and press sync, it only syncs the music I bought from the new iPod. Also, I did check the button that says 'Entire music Gallery'.

How can I transfer AWK files written in Japanese into MS Word
I have several pages of Japanese text which were originally created in Clarisworks; now I have them in Appleworks. I need to put these documents into
MS[ Word. When I copy some text which are in Osaka font and try pasting it into Word I get only unintelligible characters.
If I try saving the AWK file in another format, my only other choices are image files (QT).
Any suggestions would be appreciated

JohnUsing Text Edit, I tried opening the file that has the Japanese text. Text Edit couldn’t open it because the original file in Appleworks was encoded differntly from the encoding used by Text Edit. Still couldnn’t open the file even though I tried ALL the possible Japanese encodings Text Edit had to offer. This made me think that there might be a problem with Appleworks.
I went back to the Japanese file, selected a few Japanese words, did command COPY, opened a new Appleworks document and did a command PASTE. Even here, the pasted characters were unintelligible! Apparently the problem lies neither with MS Word nor with Text Edit--but with Appleworks! It’s interesting to note that if I retype the Japanese then copy and paste it in a new file--whether it be Appleworks, Text Edit, or MS Word--the characters are fine.
My guess is that something happens to Clarisworks’ files created in OS 9.2 when they are converted to Applework files in OS X.
My tentative solution was to go back to OS 9.2, open the original Clariswork file, select all the Japanese text, do command COPY, open a new MS Word (2001) document and do a command PASTE. This worked fine. I then saved this MS Word file to a separate disk. Then I rebooted the computer into OS 10.4.3. I inserted the disk and opened the file in MS word (2004).Everything is fine, but it’s a long, long route.
Any suggestions how to shorten this trip?

Does anyone know how I can stop this program from looking for files? Every time I restart PREVIEW gives two errors while it's searching for image files that are no longer there. FYI this is a lingering problem related to the replacement of my hard drive (under recall from apple), iphoto had to be totally rebuilt many times through technical support. Now there's just this program still trying to open phantom images.

You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.2. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible. -
Im gunna be straight up honest here.. I have some rude pictures of my girlfriend on my iphone which I would like to keep for my own personal viewing but obviously dont want family and friends seeing when they are flicking threw my camera album which often happens. I had intended to make a private album put them all in there and put a passcode on the album. With all of apples features I would of thought this would be a standard thing you could do, however when I made the private album the pictures were still in my camera roll and if I try to delete them I am told the pictures will be removed completly from my phone.. This is stupid. What is the point in being able to make albums if the pictures are going to still all be in the camera roll!? Does anybody know of a way I can move pictures from camera roll to a private album?? Any help would be much appreciated.
Photos placed in a user created album or in an existing album are not copied/duplicated. The photos placed in an album include a pointer to the original photos stored in the Camera Roll. Having an album for select photos is for viewing the select photos only without having to see all photos in the Camera Roll.
The same applies to albums transferred from your computer. All photos transferred from your computer are stored in the Photo Library. Photos on the albums below include a pointer to the original photos stored in the Photo Library. The photos appear as they are duplicated when they are not. This way you can view the photos in an album only by selecting the album, or all photos on the Photo Library or Camera Roll by selecting it. -
Okay, so I did the entire Migrate Assistant process to transfer all my files and what not to my MacBook. Problem is that I did it on seperate occasions and now I have several accounts.

If you had read carefully, Migration Assistant asks what you want to do in this event. That would have precluded the redundancy.
Part of the fundamental design of OS X is to separate user accounts so that one user can't interfere with another. It's not possible to directly merge an account with another, but you can copy whatever you need to the Shared folder - it is in your Users folder.
Log in to one account, prefereably a smaller one, and drag the files and folders into Shared. Log out, log into the account you want to be "primary" and drag the files from Shared into their appropriate locations. When you have copied everything you need delete the redundant account.
Do this for each of them.
Or, you can just run Migration Assistant again and follow the prompts that address the situation you described. It involves creating a secondary, temporary account from which you can administer the transfer. When it is complete you delete the temporary account(s). -

I am having a few problems with bootcamp on my imac. When i tried to move the bootcamp partition on windows 7 into free space, it crashed and turned off. Ever since i have had the error 'Missing operating system' and it fails to boot. I have some very important files on the bootcamp partition. Is it possible to recover these files or even to restore the bootcamp partition to it's original state? I do not have a backup of my bootcamp partition. Another problem i have is that ever since i tried to expand my macintosh HD partition into free space, when i hold alt while booting up (to choose which partition to boot like i normally do), the bootcamp partition has stopped appearing. This means that i cannot even boot the windows 7 bootcamp partition anymore!
So basically here are my 2 questions:
How can i restore/recover files from Bootcamp with Boot Failure - Missing operating system error?
How can i make the Bootcamp partition appear in Startup Disk and when i hold the option key while starting up my computer to allow me to boot windows 7?
Any solutions are very much apreciated!

I know that bootcamp (disk0s4) hasn't been fully deleted since it appears in disk utility (i cant do anything to it though)
And here is the error i see when i try to launch bootcamp (back when i was actually able to boot up bootcamp to the error screen)WinClone 3 is OS X and saves Windows image it makes for restore - that should work but you will have to try and you would need to make a new image unless it also works with a native Windows system restore image. It is now supported and has come a long way.

Paragon Clone OS works and does disk-to-disk clone just like CCC you end up with two bootable drives. But does not work with your setup. It would let you clone and move your Windows install to an SSD or another disk drive though and be bootable.
During its clone process it checks for errors which is very helpful and lets you know - something CCC and others should adopt more of.

I would rearrange and redo your storage setup and how you use the 4-5 internal hard drive bays. -

I managed to import the files to Premiere, but it was just a test. I am working at a very huge documentary project with Final cut Pro Version 5.1.4 thats why I would prefere not to change the program or the version.
Simply exporting from Premiere back to final cut is also very complicated.
Thanks for any ideas.First, copy the card to a hard drive connected to your fcp workstation. I always back up all card based media at least 2 or three times. All hard drive will eventually fail. It's a question of when, not if.
I'm not familiar with this particular camera, but examine the contents of the copied files and see if you can find any .mov files. You can try importing these directly into fcp.

But, I'd really advise upgrading to at least fcp6 or ideally fcp7 if you can find a copy. HDV is a problematic format. Although you can certainly work with it and it's a fcp approved format, converting your media to prores would make your life much easier. -

How can I copy mp3 files from my Itunes library to an SD card for use in a non-apple phone? I can physically copy the tunes as mp3's but the phone does not seem to be able to play all of them. Do I need to copy an entire album or can I just pick & choose individual songs? The phone is question is an LG running who knows what for an operating system.
AAC is Advanced Audio Coding. Basically it's a format that sounds better than MP3 but doesn't take up as much space as a lossless format (like you'd have on a CD). More than likely you've had that encoding turned on when you ripped your music into itunes (it's the default encoder). Therefore your LG phone won't play them.
You need to turn off the AAC format by going to the iTunes menu, Preferences, General (at the top), then clicking the "Import Preferences" button. Change the AAC Encoder to MP3 Encoder. After that you'll have to make MP3 copies of your songs by right clicking them and selecting "Create MP3 Version." You'll get a copy of the song that should transfer to your SD card and have MP3 encoding. Hopefully your phone will play that. -
