How can I re-install iTunes without losing my music?
For some reason or another, I haven't been able to update iTunes for a long time now. I want to reinstall it but I am afraid I will lose all of my music.
How can I delete iTunes and still keep all my songs?

btw...I have iTunes currently on an external hard drive so it doesn't eat up space on the computer.
just go to the store and log into your home country's store again.

To update your phone requires using the latest version of iTunes, on your computer, as well as Internet access. The update to iOS 5.0 or higher is an erase/restore deal, so you not only have to make sure all of the content, currently on your phone, is on your computer and accessible, you need to update iTunes first, have Internet access, then update your phone. There is no way around this fact. You could go to an Apple store or use another computer, but you run the risk of losing all of your data it you do that.

Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.

Yes. With iTunes open the menu bar is at the top of your screen.

After you authorize the computer connect your iPhone then follow the instructions here > iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
When you are done transferring the data to the desktop, right or control click the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window then click Back Up.
That way you will have a backup just in case you need to restore your iPhone. -
Everytime I try to update to iOS5 on my iPhone 4 I get an error containing 0xE while it is backing up data from the iPhone before installing the new operating system. I have done everything suggested in Apple support with no success. I still get the error everytime (about 5 minutes into backing up iPhone data). How can I upgrade to iOS5 without losing all the data on my iPhone (the error message says that if I continue I will lose all data on the phone)? If I have already synced the phone before upgrading the OS, would I be able to restore my data after installing the new OS by syncing after the OS upgrade is complete? I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first. -

How can you delete an app without losing saved data/progress? Is there a way through iCloud? I have an 8gb 4th gen iPod touch. I have a lot of music, so with 8gb, space is limited. Some apps I have take up 20-30 MB. Some of these games I don't play that much, but I don't delete them because I have made a lot of progress (levels, scores, acheivements). It would be nice to delete some of these 30 MB apps that take up precious space, and them redownload them in the future when I have more space, but without having to start the whole game over.
Also, I read somewhere that there might be a way to do this with iCloud, but I don't really know how.

You cannot use someone else's apps without violating the license agreement. The apps are tied to the owner (via Apple ID). The right thing to do would be to update and start fresh.

Jpg, original file size 923KB, dimensions 848px x 279px.
After resizing to 848px x 180px with 72dpi, the file size decreased to 164KB.
Image 2
Jpg, original file size 809KB, dimensions 1200px x 1800px.
After resizing to 668px x 722px with 72dpi, the file size decreased to 307KB.
So, there seems to be a fair file size loss - is this to be expected? -

The only way around this is to "save as" you icloud documents using the associated app to a local folder on your mac. Then turn off icloud.
Of course, when you sign off of icloud, the docs are removed from the mac, but remain in icloud. In the future when you sign back in, the documents are available to you again.
Oh, and the icloud documents are also stored locally in ...
~/Library/Mobile Documents
Note that Library in the user's home folder is now hidden, so you'll have to set Finder to view hidden files.
The Mobile Documents folder has subfolder where copies of the doc/data files are stored.
You can move these files to another folder to save them. -

The obvious way to resolve this on a computer would be to uninstall the app, then reinstall it, however on an iOS device that would cause all the data assoicated with the app to be thrown away.
Make sure your iTunes library has the latest updates for all your apps, then backup and restore the device. This should pull back a fresh copy of the app from your iTunes library and then give it the data from your device backup.
