How can i rebuild my imovie library?

After a program crash my imovie 2013 library only contains the older of my freshly imported videos, although the clips are still available, when checking the library-data in the film-directory by pressing the ctrl-button+click.
How can I integrate the missing clips into the current library on my imovie mainsheet?
Thanks in advance
hartmut

You don't rebuild a library from a backup, you replace the library with the backup:
If you'll describe what happend when you tried rebuilding the library with iPhoto maybe we can offer another possible fix like try using iPLM as Larry suggested.

Can I rebuild my iphoto library from the Time Machine backup?
Somehow the iPHoto libary structure(?), if that's the word, has gotten corrupted.
There phtos are still these, in their year/month/day folders, but though iPhoto
opens it does not show Events, Slideshow, etc.
I found a Support page  that tell you how to re-build the library, but
    it didn't work.
It just occurred to me that the Time Machine back up should contain the 'library'.
Is so, how do I access it and will it open the iPhoto library intact with Events, Slideshows,
    etc.?
    Thanks,
    Hal

  • How can I move my iMovie library (incl. events etc.) between users on my iMac?

I just transferred my iMovie material from my old iMac to my new one using the Migration Assistant.  But now I want to move the transferred material from one user on my new iMac to another user (on the same iMac).  How can I do that?
What I tried so far was to put the Movies folder (of User "A") into the Public folder (of User "B") and then copy the material from the Public folder (of User B) to the Movies folder (of User B).  The material then didn't show up in iMovie though.  I then tried importing the material through iMovie but that didn't work either.
    Thanks for your help!

Are all imovie projects working completely OK on your new machine under your user name?  No missing clips?  I would not go any further unless this is the case.
    If all is OK:
I would first consolidate library media.  This makes sure that the library contains a copy of everything required and no links (for example to audio clips in user A's iTunes library which won't be accessible to user B).  See:
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0/#mov882dee351
(Repeat for other libraries if you have any)
From inside iMovie create a new library on the user B public folder and copy all events into it (is this what you did?).
User B then has to log in, launch iMovie select Open - Library - Other, navigate to their public folder then create a new library in their Movies folder and copy all events across.
Do you specifically want the library/s to be only available to user B?  If not, libraries located on a volume with 'ignore ownership' set will be accessible to all users.
Please not that this is what i think should work in theory but I must admit I have never tried messing with multiple users and I could n't find any documentation on how iMovie handles this.
Maybe someone else with real experience of doing this can chip in?
You need to have lots of disk space available since the library may grow considerably in size when you consolidate it and then you are going to be temporarily triplicating it.

  • How can I rebuild an iTunes library, lost due to network HD failure?

I had it installed on separate server disc, but disk failed. I'd like to start with new library, based on iCloud, and only using the purchased content initially. The boards seem to suggest issues with iCloud and iTunes Match, so I am reluctant to go there yet.  Any suggestions or references?
    Thanks,
    Dean

You would probably need to set up a VPN server on your home network and connect through that server. To be best of my knowledge, synching to an an Apple TV, as is the case with iTunes sharing, only works between devices on the same local network. But perhaps someone else here will know another workaround.

  • How can I upgrade from iMovie 7.4.1 while running Mac OSX 10.7.5?

I am trying to upgrade iMovie 7.4.1, but I don't know where to get the next version of the software.
I am currently running OSX 10.7.5 on a 2008 iMac.
    Thanks.

With the above listed config that I have (iphoto 7.1.5 on an older iMac running OSX 10.6.8), how can I move my iPhoto library from this old iMac (2006) to my NEW iMac (2011) that is running iPhoto 9.5.1 ?
To open an iPhoto 7.1.x version in iPhoto '11 you need to run the iPhoto Library Upgrader. See this Support document:
iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrade
Download and install the upgrader,  then run it on your iPhoto 7.1.5 library. After that, iPhoto will be able to open your library and upgrade it to version 9.5.1. And you will be able to merge the libraries with if Library Manager.

  • How can I share my iTunes library with 2 iTunes accounts?

How can I share my iTunes library between me and my wife?
I do not want to set-up 2 seperate accounts on my mac. Do not want to do home sharing or anything like this.
I just would like to connect my iPad to ONE itunes library and at the same time connect my wifes iPad to the SAME itunes library. Can this be done? How? Thanks! Maybe the answer is something really easy like "just connect both to the computer and sync them".
    Thanks!

Plug them in and use them.
That is all you need to do.
In the answer from Apple I do not find anything about how the 2 exisiting iTunes accounts will be handled.
    They will be handled fine.
All purchases from both iTunes accounts can be sync'd to both/either iPads with no problem.
I have three iTunes accounts (me and two daughters), 3 iPhones, an iPad and a few iPods.
Any/all content can be sync'd to any device, no problems.

  • I just purchased a Macbook, iPad, and iPhone and I am trying to sync my iTunes library from my Windows laptop.  How can I sync my iTunes library to all devices?

I just recently purchased a MacBook Pro (13 inch with Retina display), an iPad Air 2, and an iPhone 6 plus.  Before these purchases, I was using a Windows 7 laptop to manage my iTunes library and iTunes purchases.  I am in need of syncing my iTunes library on my iPod classic (160 GB) with all of my new Apple devices.  How can I sync my iTunes library with all of my new devices?

Devices can only sync to one library at a time. You can, however, have multiple copies of libraries on different computers though it can be tricky making sure they are always synchronized.  You can put your Windows iTunes on your Mac.
Moving a library: Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its sub-folders and files) intact to the other drive.  Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes.  At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.
When this is to a new computer put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

I regret to say that you need a new computer. That G5, as good as it still is, simply cannot run the required software to be used with the latest iPhones and other software.

  • How can i transfer my Ipad Library and Apps to a new laptop - my old one died

How can i transfer my Ipad Library and Apps to a new laptop - my old laptop died before i could backup my library to an external hardrive

You will need to do this via iTunes to start with as you need to copy your iTunes files to the new computer.
If you have everything on your iPad you can select "transfer purchases..." when plugging your iPad into your new computer and in iTunes (right/ctrl click the iPad icon) after telling iTunes to not sync this iPad.
Once the items are in the new iTunes then when it asks if you wish to sync to this new iTunes your items will be copied to the iPad again.
However if you do not have all iTunes items on your iPad, then you will need to follow the instructions on to move iTunes first, then deal with your iPad.

  • How can I move my iTunes library from one Mac to another?

I recently purchased a new 13" MacBook Air to replace my older 17" MacBook Pro.
How can I move my iTunes library to my new MBA?
I also plan on purchasing a new iPhone in the next month or so.  Can I move my songs from my iPod to that too?

Easy. Copy it from the old Mac to the new one.
There are a variety of techniques including Setup Assistant (as soon as you get your new MacBook Air, it will ask you if you want to transfer information from another computer), Migration Assistant (if you elect to transfer information later), enabling file sharing between the two computers, or copying your music to a flash drive or other storage device followed by importing it to iTunes.
iTunes: How to move your music from one computer to another
Once your music library and everything else you want to transfer from the MacBook Pro resides on the new MBA, sync your iPod to the MBA. Sync the iPhone too when you get it, and they will both have identical iTunes music libraries.

  • How can I "refresh" my iTunes Library?

How can I "refresh" my iTunes Library? I recently moved my library to an external and made the source folder change in preferences. My library now shows all exclamations asking me to locate the files. What is the quick fix to locate or "refresh" all?

    Michael,
Your response here seems exaclty like the answer that I need.  My logic board broke and I had to get a new one.  Sent to Apple and all is working again.  I didn't have an super recent time machine back up....my last one was 2 months old.  I was able to salvage my music from the computer before sending in for repair and when I got it back, I reloaded my music file onto my machine.  I use iTunes match so maybe that kept many of my files/playlists etc in order.  But my iTunes is asking me to download many songs that are showing in iTunes and are in a folder in iTunes.  These are songs I downloaded during that 2 month break between time machine backups.  I think a refresh will fix this issue.  But when I follow your steps above, I not certain what file to choose.  I tried to go to my itunes ---> itunes media ---> music but that doesn't work.  Do I need to choose the "iTuens Library.itl" file?  I use my playlists for my job so I don't want to just guess here and lose everything.  I did do a backup of my playlists so hopefully I'm protected if something happens but just want a bit more guidance on this.  Thank you for your help and your time and let me know if you have any questions.
    Best,
    Kirk

  • How can I synchronise my iTunes Library on my iMac with the one on my MacBook?

How can I synchronise my iTunes Library on my iMac with the one on my MacBook?

    Carolyn:
I have almost 10,000 songs/cuts in my music collection and, because of the poor quality of iTunes music, very few of those songs/cuts come from iTunes.  My music came from me ripping it disc by disc over hundreds of hours. I would like to be able to add a disc and have both the iMac AND the MacBook music files (plus an external backup) be updated.  Surely there is an intelligent, relatively easy to implement procedure for doing this. Perhaps I am missing something but your response doesn't seem to address the sync issue with all its implications...

Hello there - how can I share my iTunes library between two users on the same computer? I put the library in a shared folder between both and have selected this library on both as well, but when I update iTunes with music etc it only appears on one?

Thank you Joe - I tried this but it's only showing a teensy amount of music - the stuff on the second users account as opposed to the giagntic library on the 'main' account. I actually went to a Genius Bar and they said that apple doesn't really want you to share music between accounts - parents don't want to hear their kids music etc. Which seemed strange, but it might be the case sadly   Thanks anyway!
