  • URGENT! how can I recover a deleted mailbox folder

I just inadvertantly deleted a mailbox folder with important client messages contained within. It's not in trash. It should be still on the computer somewhere, but where?
    HELP!!!

    Look in folder:
    (username)/library/mail/(account name)/Deleted Messages
where you should see .emix files.
If you open these, you will probably see what you are looking for. I am having trouble at the moment with my delete messages not showing-up in my Trash folder in the mail program, but they are stored on my disk at this location.

  • How can I recover accidentally deleted photos and videos?

My sister sorted the photos into albums in my dad's ipad then she deleted all the photos from camera roll. Surely, all photos and videos were erased. Please help me. There are many pictures there that I need for my wedding. I badly need them.

Unless you backed up your iPad to iCloud or to a computer, they are gone. You cannot safely recover photos from the iPad.

  • How can I recover a delete accidently genre from my playlist? It's all gone even the genre title

How can I recover a delete accidently genre from my playlist? It's all gone even the genre title

As long as you don't delete the trash, the files should be recoverable.
I suspect using the Put Back command could take a long time, so be patient.
If your Time Machine backups are mixed with your daughter's backups you might want to buy a larger drive and move the Time Machine files to the new drive.
Regarding missing photos in iPhoto...There might be options to rebuild/recover that data from iPhoto rather than trying to revert to a Time Machine backup.
Check out this third party app, iPhoto Library Manager. It has a demo.

    Options for a larger drive.
I like the Seagate USB 3.0 Backup plus drives. Works on USB 2.0 ports. They come formatted for PC but easy to format in Disk Utility.
I don't recommend Western Digital because of the boot problem with some of their drives.
    LaCie makes good drives.
All Mac formatted drives will cost more and it’s easy to reformat with Disk Utility. Do not use the software that comes with the drives. It’s recommended that you use Apple’s Disk Utility.
Prices vary but this gives you an idea of what you’ll find. As you notice the second and third TB is usually only $15 more per TB. Normally, you’ll find these prices but right now the 1T is more than the 2T
Seagate Backup Plus 1 TB USB 3.0 $85
Seagate Backup Plus 2 TB USB 3.0 $99
Seagate Backup Plus 3 TB USB 3.0 $115
I have seen the 3T on sale for $99.
Locally, Best Buy seems to have the best prices.

  • How to undelete (recover) accidentally deleted stacks

I had created a personal stack with Excel documents, and have accidentally moved the stack icon (that was on the dock, next to the default stacks) such that it hovered on the desktop. The standard "vanishing cloud"  appeared, and gone was my stack along with all my documents! No trace of it could be found in the trashcan.  I can't even find my stack name in the time machine. It seems it never existed.
How can I recover my Excel documents, or even better find back my stack, and reinstate it?

All the icons on the Dock are actually aliases. They can be set to display as a Stack or a Folder by right-clicking (or Control-clicking) on them and changing the settings in the popup menu that appears; other settings for each Dock item are accessible the same way.
When an item is removed from the Dock, typically by dragging it off and watching it disappear in a poof, only the alias used on the Dock is removed; the original item remains where it had been on the hard drive.
The original folder that you used to create the 'stack' item in the Dock should still exist. You can locate it by searching for it by name, or by searching for one of the files that was in it - they still exist, too, in that original folder.
If you search for the file by name, once it is 'found' you can do a Get Info on it to find the path to where it is located, specifically to the location of the folder containing that file.
Once you locate that folder, you can add it back to the Dock very easily - drag it to the area between the dashed line and the Trash, wait for the icons already there to move aside, then drop it onto the Dock. You can then adjust its display and behavior settings, if needed.

  • How can I move the ~/Library/Mail folder?

I partition my hard drives into Startup/OSX, Tools, and several data volumes. I would MUCH rather store email and attachments in a data volume, as I do all my other work product, big application caches, Music, and Pictures folders. I have tried aliases and symbolic links, and everything is ignored by Mail; no mailbox is recognized unless it is in the original location, unlike Pictures, Music, Movies, etc.
I would appreciate having control over this. Does anyone have ay tips or workarounds? I am capable of diddling plists and other config files at a fairly low level, if necessary.

If you are keeping virtually everything in your Home folder on a different volume, then perhaps a better solution is to move the entire Home folder. You can move the entire Home folder to another volume, then direct Leopard to use the Home folder in the new location.
Open Accounts preferences, click on the lock icon and authenticate. Click on your account entry then CTRL- or RIGHT-click and select Advanced Options from the contextual menu. To the right of the field labeled "Home Directory" is a button labeled "Choose." Click on the button, locate your new Home folder, select it and click on the Open button. Now restart the computer. You should now be using the relocated Home folder.
Now, if you would rather not do that then you can move the /Home/Library/Mail/ folder to the other drive. You will then need to create a soft link to this location using the Terminal command "ln -s source target" without quotes. You must first delete the original /Home/Library/Mail/ folder. So your command may look like:
    ln -s /Volumes/volname/PathToNew/Mail ~/Library/Mail
The "~" tilde is the Unix shorthand for your user folder.
This should create a new folder in /Home/Library/ named Mail which is a symbolic link to the relocated Mail folder.
