How can I recover my play counts and ratings?

I recently moved my iTunes librabry to an external hd, and lost all my preferences. I have recoverd my playlists (at least the ones my wife uses) but can't figure out how to restore my ratings/ play counts etc. I have time machine but cannot locate the data i'm looking for.

Quick answer if you use iTunes default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
The above is how you should do it. Your playcounts and ratings are stored along with all other information about your iTunes collection in the library.itl file. If this wasn't part of the move then they got left behind.

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.

Unfortunately I have had a problem with everything working slowly since I installed Mavericks. The good people at the Apple store have investigated. They wiped my hard drive and I did a full restore from my Time Machine backup - but the problem came back so I have now wiped again and had to copy all my files over from another back up disc. In doing so I have lost my bookmarks in Safari and Firefox and wonder if somewhere on my back up disc I may have some means of recovering them. The backup is basically a copy of all my files under my login.

What do you mean "I could not get through to it" Are you trying to login remotely?

Maual manage songs ... play count and ratings sync

When you set your ipod to "manually manage songs" play counts and ratings, among other things, don't update.
Has this been addressed yet? Anyone know any work arounds?
How do we contact Apple to include features in future updates? There's really no reason for the "manually manage" option to be so crippled on purpose.

There are some programs on the market that allow you to transfer your content and metadata from your iPod to your computer.
In my opinion, [iPod Access|http://www.findleydesigns.com/ipodaccess/index.html] or [iRepo|http://www.purpleghost.com/index.php?q=irepo] are excellent, once they have iPod Touch/iPhone compatibility and can also transfer your ratings, playlists and everything else.

Play counts and ratings aren't saving

So far I've been using iTunes for a year and I haven't had any problems until now. So here goes:
As far as I know this has started since I've updated to iTunes 8.2. My play counts and ratings aren't saving when I exit iTunes and start it up again. When I plug in my iPod Classic it syncs up to the old setup and doesn't update playcounts either. At first this happened when I added a new CD and started rating the songs and playing it. Then last night I bought 3 tracks off iTunes Store and all of a sudden it started saving my playcounts and ratings for that past CD. Now today when I started rating and adding playcounts to those new tracks I bought it won't save anything again. It's like it saves the file when I add something new but always reverts to that spot whenever I open iTunes again. I hope this makes sense, haha.

Ok, I found out that when I added another new CD it seems to stop saving all information once I try to rate the new files, or something like that. For example, I started changing the 'Sort Artist' category for the songs and afterwards started to rate them. This was before I clicked 'Get Album Artwork' as well so then when I closed out and opened iTunes again it had the 'Sort Artist' info right but in the wrong spot and the artwork wasn't there. One song was missing too. Is this a corrupted Library file then? It won't save any changes for any of the other songs either. It always reverts back to the old info. I'm really not sure what to do.

What exactly are you trying to do? You already have another library on the computer and wish to add items from another library? This is not easily done and meeting all the requirements you have posted. While it is possible to transfer play count I think it is one of the things that requires Applescripting knowledge.
If you are just wanting to move a library from one place to another that is possible, though still tricky because you start encountering user permissions.

How can I use a gating counter and an input counter in countinuous mode

I have a PXI 6259 with LV 7.1 and I am trying to generate a retriggerable finite pulse train (using Counter 1) in order to gate the input counter (Counter 0).
For generating I found : Gen Dig Pulse Train-Finite-Retriggerable.vi that works well.
For Counting: Count Digital Events-Buffered-Continuous-Ext Clk.vi that is OK.
I am trying to merge these examples to generate and count on the same program, but I don't now how !!!

So, once every 200 microsec (5 kHz laser pulses), you want to trigger a finite pulse train generation. That pulse train will pulse 25 times at 10 MHz freq. You would like to take a PMT count sample on each of these 25 pulses. Is this correct? If so, sorry, I mainly have bad news.
1. (Not hard but costs $) The speeds you need prevent you from using the AI, AO, or DIO features of your board to compensate for the limited # of counters on the M-series 6259. You really do need 3 counters here, 2 to generate a retriggerable finite pulse train and 1 to buffer count samples. A dedicated counter/timer board like the 6602 may be worth considering.
2. (Hard.) However, based on various threads here I'm quite doubtful that you'll be able to achieve counter sample rates of 10 MHz. Most of the discussion seems to set a ceiling in the low 100's of kHz, and reliability will suffer as you approach the limit.

Unless you backed up your iPad to iCloud or to a computer, they are gone. You cannot safely recover photos from the iPad.
