How can I recover ONLY contacts from a backup in iTunes?

I had to change my company email in my iPhone 4 mail box, in this change I also brought the contacts from the new exchange group, which I though would only bring the email contacts. It happens that it substituted my phone contacts and now I don't have my friends phone number in the contacts anymore. I have a backup in iTunes ( from 2 months ago) and I would like to bring back ONLY my contacts. As long as I know if I bring back a backup it will overwrite everything, messages, pictures... and I don't want that. Is there a way of solving this not using third party software? I found some third party software that could to do what I need, but in order to recover the contacts I need the paid version. I wonder if apple has a solution for this issue. Thanks for any tip!

a phone backup cannot be used on an ipad.
if all you want is your contacts, sign in to icloud from the same apple ID you wre using on the phone.

Regardless of application, the first step that I take is to save and name the current document — even if it has no content yet. With Pages, this good habit enables autosave. As you add content, your document revision history is restorable via the File Revert To menu. The delete key has the same document foreboding as only teaching a pet raven to speak "Nevermore."

I wish I could have told my sister about this as she could not open my homepage back before my new iWeb site. She now can open my site without the yet in case denial window does appear = I thank you.
I think my iWeb site works as Noone has said otherwise from any platform etc...

I do agree that should not have to be a consideration for any users so i agree that it would be great if Apple could allow simplicity to run seemlessly.
I have had this problem since Homepage, and here is
what has worked for me. I send out the link, and
then for PC users I send the link with "<" after the address (without quotation
marks. e.g., <http://site.com>).
I also put a note that if that doesn't work, to just
copy and paste the link into a browser. With that I
have only had 1 person say they still can't open.
Everyone else gets it to work.
It's a lot to do and seems like a hassle, but you get
used to it.

Time Machine is a back up you have to set up to back up before there is a problem like a hard drive failure.
It is possible to recover files from a failed drive, but it is an expensive proposition.
There is a faint hope that an app like Disk Warrior or TechTool Pro might repair the drive. You could try making an appointment at an Apple store and ask a technician there to take a look... the diagnosis will not cost you.

Everything that you have checked in your icloud settings will be shared between devices using the same Apple ID. If you don't want icloud to share that information, then simply turn off that process under settings > icloud

You need to spend another US$30 and buy an additional copy and get that other MacBook on its own unique Apple_ID.
