These were the six folders listed inside windows.old folder. I tried to paste a snapshot of that folder, but I don't know how..

I have no other issues withmy computer as I have used PC's for years and am quite familar with their operation. teh questions pretty much says it. Sounds like boot sector corruption to me! I suggest you download Testdisk a product of CG Security. Use the latest version that is NOT beta. Boot the computer to a bootable CD such as Hiren's Boot CD. Run the DOS version. Do NOT write anything to the hard disk, such as a log! Do a deep search for lost partitions. When given the opportunity, look at files and folders. Finally, do a rebuild of the boot sector, and compare that to the current boot sector and backup sector. The write a verified version of the boot sector back to the hard disk. Note: Testdisk 6.11.3, under DOS, will show DELETED FILES IN RED. You can then OFFLOAD them to another drive or USB stick. Good luck.

I clean-installed Vista (would not allow an upgrade install), and it moved all of my settings and programs into a windows.old folder. I'd like to be able to recover my stored passwords (even if I have to manually re-enter) and my bookmarks for Firefox. I was running version 4 at the time of the O/S crash. How can I recover my Notes from mail in Leopard after updating to Mountain Lion?

I had Snow Leoppard and I used to save so many notes in "mail". When I switched to Mountain Lion, it seems all notes are disappeared. I can get the notes from my iphone and ipad, but not the ones in my "mail". I appreciate if you help me, since those notes were crucial for me.

How do I recover files from a Time Machine backup after a clean system reinstall?

I had a really funky problem with my Japanese input that is too weird (and irrelevant at this point) to go into here. The gist is that I took my 13-inch, Mid-2012 MacBook Air to the Apple Store in Osaka, and one of their geniuses told me he couldn't isolate the cause and that the only solution was to do a complete reinstall. Of course, I had backed up my whole disk to my Time Capsule before going to the store. The problem is, I cannot do a straight backup, because that will simply bring back the unsolvable problem.
I got the MacBook Air home and used the moving assistant utlity (sorry, I don't know the English name for it since my system's in Japanese) to resinstall all my applications. So far so good. The problem is, I have no idea how to get my files, photos, music, and movies from the Time Capsule into my new account. I didn't see any option for that when I ran the moving assistant utility, and I absolutely do not want to resinstall anything from the old Library Folder.
When I go into Time Machine mode, pinks lines on the right side of the screen indicate that Time Machine has all my old backups there, but when I try to navigate to them, I get only an empty black window. I assume that's because Time Machine does not recognize my old account and new account as the same account (and indeed there is no reason at this point that it should, since I don't know how to link them).
Any help would be very much appreciated.

While in Time Machine, press the key combination shift-command-C. The front window will show all mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and navigate to the files you want to restore.

Boot Camp is not an App, it does nothing except create a partition for Windows to be installed in. Windows does have a password.
I know of no way to recover a Boot Camp password (because there isn't one) If it is the Windows password then Microsofts forums will probably be better for Windows problems.

If you have removed your personal data when uninstalling Firefox then the Firefox profile folder that store your Firefox personal data has been removed.
If you do not have a backup of the files in this folder then your only option is to try to recover this data with an undelete utility like Recuva.
