How can I reinstall Garageband application from Time Machine

I somehow LOST my GarageBand application. I can see it on my Time Machine but I don't know how to restore JUST that application. I still have my garage band files.

Which version of mac os x does your new mac have?
Actually photoshop elements 6 should work on modern intel macs.
The only problem is that adobe doesn't have photoshop elements 6 installers available anymore, though there may be a chance to get the pse 6 installer if you bought pse 6 as a download from adobe
and login to your adobe account using the same user id and password as you did back then.
Otherwise hopefully you have the photoshop elements 6 install dvd.
Photoshop elements 13 is the current version that adobe has for sale

  • Screwed up Mail  How can App & files be recovered from Time machine

Did something while trying to fix a send problem. Now Mail doesn't appear when "opened". Mail menus appear but Preferences, Quit and most menu items are grayed out; there is no mail window.
Can the program and required files be restored from Time Machine? If so what files need be restored?

+Can the program and required files be restored from Time Machine?+
Yes, but of course you'll lose the changes since the most recent backup.
+If so what files need be restored?+
Start with this file (path relative to the top level of your home folder):
    Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Quit Mail before restoring, then try again. If it still isn't working, then quit again and restore:

  • How can i extract just documents from time machine backup?

How can I extract just my documents from a time machine backup?   I had to re-install Lion after the update screwed things up, the Genius Bar guy told me to re-install each App, and then transfer just my data (documents) back but didn't tell me how.   I only see how you can restore the entire snapshot of what was on my MacBook that day, I don't see how to select specifics.

    Hi,
Install a fresh Lion OS on your Mac. After this is done, then connect your time capsule. Click on the time machine icon in the dock bar so you will enter in time machine. Select the document folder and any document or all you need. The same thing you can do with iPhoto, Emails, etc.
    Let me know

  • How can i delete a 'backups' from time machine for a computer i no longer have

i have been using my time capsule for a few years now, everything was great until my imac died and i had to replace it
when i did, the time capsule worked perfectly, as it allowed me to "migrate" all my backed up data onto my new machine, joy
but now, as it wants to start its backups of the new imac, there just isnt enough disk space on the drive, and i suspect this is due to every file on my new machine is marked as never have being backed up which means i need like 400G, and most of the time capsule's space is still consumed by the old backups
how can i remove this old back up from the time capsule without reformatting the whole drive (i have other machines that are still using the backup service and i dont want that interrupted)
it just seems like, since i am no longer on the old machine, i cant access that machine's backup in order to delete them (through the time machine interface), and i cant seem to find a single tutorial on how to do this that is written in non-programmer speak (i really dont feel comfortable cracking open terminal and command-lining this sort of thing)
am i just nuts or is this really all that uncommon a problem with no easy solution?!?
any advice is appreciated, thanks in advance

  • How can backup the old deta from time machine to OS X LION??

    Hi there,
I was using MacPro with older snow leopard just now i install OS X LION,before install i backup all deta to time machines about 70GB,now when i connect i dont know how can backup the old deta to OS X LION,but it just backup the recent deta to time machine, pls guide me how i can backup my old deta to my computer??
    Will be much appreciated !!
    Thanks.

Sorry, but your post is not clear.
If all you did was upgrade to Lion, there's no reason to do anything.  All your data, etc., should still be on your Mac, just as it was before.
Please clarify exactly what you did, and what the problem is.

  • How can I retrieve a photo from Time Machine?

My husband needs pictures he had stored under his profile.  I deleted everything due to space limits on the Macbook Air, but everything was backed up through Time Machine 1st.  Now he needs those pictures and I cannot figure out how to find them and restore them to my computer.  When I try, I get a message that says I don't have enough space to restore entire library.  Please help.  I just want to find the darn pictures that he needs and bring them back. I'm so confused and I want to go to sleep soon.  Thanks!

Were his pictures in the iPhoto library?
If so, quit iPhoto, open the folder containing the iPhoto library, then open Time Machine.
If not, just open the folder where he had stored the photos, then open Time Machine.

  • How to bring my files back from time machine

I just got a new hard drive as the old one broke down .. I installed the snow leopard and then the Lion as i was running before ....
How can i restore the computer from time machine back ups ? i have lots of data in time machine that needs to came back !

To be clear, the Time Machine drive has all your up-to-date data and has OS X Lion on it? Your iMac currently has a new drive with Snow Leopard on it? If so, yes Lion and all your data will end up back on the iMac.

  • How can I restore just one application from Time Machine?

Hello, I have just one application that is really acting quirky and won't load correctly anymore and I would like to restore that application from Time Machine but am just not sure how to do that. Can someone please walk me through step by step on how to restore just one application. Thank you. Jean

Before you restore an application from a Time Machine backup it would be wiser to remove the current installed copy then reinstall from the application's original distribution medium - download, CD/DVD, etc. The reason for this is that Time Machine backs up every hour. By now the bad version of this application is now backed up to your Time Machine backup drive. Restoring from the backup won't resolve your problem.
First, uninstall the old program. If the program came with an uninstaller then use it. If not then start by deleting the application from the Applications folder. Then locate all the support files associated with the application and remove them, too. Look for these in:
    /Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences
    /Users/yourusername/Library/Applications Support
Applications may come with a separate uninstaller program that could also be in your Applications folder. Some applications may install other files in other locations on your computer. If you tell us what the application is we may be able to provide additional help.
You may find more information here: The XLab FAQs. Read the FAQ on uninstalling software.

Every time I restart my mac air some applications like calendar and Microsoft word automatically starts, how can I stop such applications from starting when ever I restart my mac?

One thing to check:  when shutting down or restarting, there is a checkbox in the shutdown/restart dialog which asks whether you want currently open applications to open at startup.

If they're iOS applications, sync the iPad.
If they're Mac or PC applications, you can't.

  • Restore some application from time machine problem.

    Hi Everybody,
I just restored my MBP from Time Machine, everything went fine. But I feel my MBR start up much slower than before. So now I want to do a clean install Leopard.
I would like to ask you guys who experiences in Time Machine that after installing Leopard, I want to restore some applications from Time Machine such as MS office, Wow, Photoshop...Will they fully function if I restore from TM?
I acknowledge that some applications are like packages so after installing in Mac OS, they are actually located in different places in the system. Whereas others is like small application so we just copy and use. So if big applications as packages, I can not just copy from TM and put it in my new Leopard to use, can't I? If I can't, so is there any ways I can copy it back and use?
I am so confusing about this and I hope very much that somebody could help me out this problem, I would greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Wait on the erase and install. Launch Disk Utility which is in the Applications > Utilities folder and Verify your disk and repair permissions. If Verify shows any errors boot from the Leopard install DVD by holding the "c" key down until the spinning gear appears. Pick a language and choose Utilities > Disk and run Repair until no errors appear. Repair permissions.
If that doesn't work try resetting the PRAM which quite often fixes slow boot times.

I don't know about Wow but Photoshop and MS Office install too many files in too many places for it to be practical to restore them from Time Machine backups after doing an erase and install. You need to reinstall those from the original disks for those applications.
