How can I remotely control what iTunes song my iMac is playing to multiple AppleTV's?

So I own an iMac that has homesharing enabled.  I then tell the iMac to play to both of my AppleTV's by holding OPTION key down while clicking on Airplay, and checking off the devices that I want it to stream to filling my home with sound that is in sync in every room.  Works beautifully.  Only problem is that I can not then control the iMac remotely from let's say the bedroom to pick a new artist.  The ATV's become dumb clients simply playing what the iMac is pumping to them.  Is there a remote interface that allows me to control iTunes on the iMac to choose the sounds being broadcast to the other Apple devices?
NO.  VNC is a ghetto work around to accomplish this.  Yes, I could do that, but it is inefficient, and inelegant.  I am looking for a remote control app with the  functionality that allows me to connect to and see the device that I want to control, and then by choosing my iMac, see all artists/albums/songs, play them and let the iMac pump the tunes to the devices that I told iTunes to Airplay to.
Ideally, the AppleTV's should know that they are acting as clients to the iMac serving centrally, but when I pick up an AppleTV remote, it overrides the stream from the iMac, and then the ATV begins streaming independently from the other.  I KNOW there is a solution to this...
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Adam

ok...  solved it.  By using the Apple Remote app, you can tell the app to control your iMac (I did not know that) and that solved the issue.  Now the iMac plays the song I want to all of the devices that I told the iMac to play to.  Perfect.

  • How can i remotely control a macintosh centris 650

I have an old Centris 650 with some NuBus cards that I still want to use. I'd like to remotely control the Centris, and I would think there are two possible ways to do it: remote control via Ethernet, or emulating the mouse and keyboard (and sharing a monitor). So far, neither approach seems viable. I can find ADB->USB adapters, but not the other way around. The Centris is currently running OS 7.1, though I have installers up to 7.5.5, if installing that would help.
All I need to be able to do is boot one or two applications and make simple adjustments to their UIs.
    Anyone have any suggestions?
    thanks!

Apple Remote Access can do that.

  • HT201272 how can i find out what itunes account i purchased an app on?

Help!! i purchased a new Ipad and want to have all my apps loaded and i have no idea which itunes account they were purchased on. My desktop died and thats where it was all stored.

If they are in the Apps part of your computer's iTunes library then you should be able to select/highlight one of them and do 'get-info' (control-I) and the account that owns the app should show on the File tab (Summary tab on older versions of iTunes) on the popup.
As long as the account is authorised on your computer's iTunes (Store > Authorise This Computer menu option) then you should be able to sync them to your phone.

  • How can I find out what iTunes is billing my credit card for?

I was getting several iTunes charges a month that I did not make and they DON'T show up on my purchase list.  I changed my password and checked no form of payment and today I checked my credit card statement and there is a charge to iTunes for $12.98!  How does that happen?

    Sandy,
When you say they don't show up on your "purchase list," make sure you are looking at your Purchase History (in iTunes under Store > View My Account), and not your Purchased Playlist.
Also, if you happen to have more than one iTunes account, make sure to check the Purchase History for each.
If it is not in your Purchase History, then something must have been bought using your credit card on someone else's account, in which case you should dispute the purchase with your credit card company.

  • How can I remotely control a WindowsXP PC?

    Hello,
I just got a MacMini (my first Mac ever) last week and I've got a friend with XP on her PC. She's VERY new to computers in general and sometimes could use some assistance getting around. I'd like to be able to connect with my new Mac.
Does anyone know of any software that will allow this? I've got Microsoft Messenger for MAC installed, but I don't know if the MAC version supports remote assistance or not. If not, what else out there will let me connect to a remote PC (preferably free)?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

I would suggest VNC as well.
Timbuktu (by Netopia) has had a bug for years, and years, and years to do with keyboard mapping between Mac and Windows if you don't have a US keyboard. I reported this to them back in 2000 and it probably existed even earlier than that. Despite many upgrades (let alone updates) to both the Mac and Windows versions of Timbuktu, Netopia have chosen to ignore the needs of HALF THE COMPUTER USING WORLD and stubbornly refuse to fix this bug.
Netopia are not alone, Microsoft Remote Desktop Client (for Mac) also has this identical bug and has had it since it was first released. It still (currently) has it in RDC 2.0beta. Virtual PC, on a Mac also had this bug, and Parallels did (not sure if the current version has fixed it).
Only VNC does not have this bug (and Boot Camp from Apple since Apple fixed it several versions ago) and the reason VNC does not have this bug is that unlike all the others it was written in Cambridge England and not by Americans who forget the world is not flat and there is life (and customers) outside the USA.
I am sorry to sound so angry (I am), but not fixing something as simple and basic as typing on a keyboard for years and years and years is utterly indefensible. What's also so annoying is that due to this bug it is impossible on a Mac to generate a \ (backslash) on the remote PC. A backslash as anyone unfortunate to have used Windows will know is a very important character being that it is used to enter file paths.
This bug is 100% reproducible all the time in this situation.

  • I have my boyfriend's apple ID and password, how do I check what apps he has on his phone? ( not all the apps that he had downloaded, but the ones that are actually on his phone). And How can I remotely download apps to his phone if I have his ID

    Thank you so much

If you want seperate accounts for managing apps and purchasing content, basically yes, you need two account and would need to repurchase. However, if you just want seperate ID for iMessgae, icloud and such, you can do that and still continue sharing the same Id for apps and itunes.

  • TS1424 I downloaded a song that I purchased from the ITunes store, but the song does not play properly.  How can I re-download the same song without having to purchase it a second time?

I downloaded a song that I purchased from the ITunes store, but the song does not play properly.  How can I re-download the same song without having to purchase it a second time?

I could not find an option to "report a problem".
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the entry, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.
(Not entirely sure what happens after you click that link, but fingers crossed it should be relatively straightforward.)

  • I have two iPhones on my iTunes account. How can I find out what apps go to which phone?

I have two iPhones on my iTunes account. How can I find out what apps go to which phone?

I don't believe that there is a way to do that.  I would sugest using automatic downloads to keep your apps synced across both phones.  You might also want to note that just about any app you have ever download will be available for free download via icloud.
Wish I could be more help.

  • HT2729 I have limited space on my new ipad. How can I limit the number of songs from my itunes on my imac from going to my ipad when I connect the two?

I have limited space on my new ipad. How can I limit the number of songs from my itunes on my imac from going to my ipad when I connect the two?

you can do this by keeping the external hard drive connected and doing the following
-hold shift key down on computer while opening iTunes and a prompt will appear to choose a library
-select choose library, iTunes should bring up your explorer windows where you can search for the external HD
-after you find the external HD find the iTunes folder you just copied to it
-after opening the iTunes folder look for the file that says iTunes library.itl or if you can't see that extenstion just look for a document looking thing in the iTunes folder that shows up as a database file
-double click the database file and boom iTunes should load your library without having to copy it to the computer
PS: do make sure that if you are going to do it this way, make sure that the external HD is connected at all times, because if you don't then you will get exclamation marks next to your iTunes songs
double PS: if you are unsure how to find out if the iTunes library file is a database file just right click it and choose properties and under the type it should say database file
    hope this helps:)

You made a purchase and exhausted the credit on your card before it processed. All purchases are final. Contact iTunes Store support. You need to settle up before you can purchase or download anything else.
