1. Here I am working with an image of a santa hat that I've cut out from a white background. I have two layers, the cut-out santa hat and the original file. I'm going to delete the background layer so that I have just one layer - the cut-out santa hat:
2. You'll see that a checkerboard pattern has appeared behind the santa hat. This means that the background is transparent.
3. You can then go to File > Save As... and select PNG, Photoshop PSD, or TIFF from the Format dropdown menu. These file formats will save the cut-out portion of your image on its own, while preserving the transparent background.

You can use the Import Files into Pages command in this extension: http://johndunning.com/fireworks/about/PageCommands
Just select all the files in the file selection dialog. They'll be imported one to a page, sorted by their filename.

I am very new to the photoshop world and am trying to remove an image from its background ( as a stand-alone) and save it. Is there a way to do this in Photoshop CS6? I have looked at tutorials but only found how to remove the image but not how to save the image as a stand alone with no background.

How can I remove the image from an OCR/Image PDF?

I have some scanned PDFs which have perfect rendering via OCR. Every word is in the proper place. To make the file size smaller and the text clearer, I would like to remove or detach the image overlay. How can this be done? The files are over 90% images in size.
This is with Acrobat Pro 9 on OS X Snow Leopard, but I assume the technique is independent.

Hi,
I don't use thumbnails but I went ahead and turned them on.
Perhaps due to the position of the slideshow only a few thumbnails appeared.
I wasn't able to delete the image I wanted removed.
I tried to remove the image from my assets, and that deleted the whole slide show.
( didn't save the changes )

Mail, how can you remove an image that shows up in the header?

I have no idea how this image got where it is, but I would like to remove it. When I open Mail, I see in the address area of the email as it displays in the message viewer, to the very right of that area, there is an image, that I have no idea how it got there or how to remove. I have gone through my signatures and made sure that image isn't in there and it isn't. Please help, it is driving my husband nuts, we would love to change the image to his company logo if possible, but we don't know if that image even shows up when others receive email from us or not (we email ourselves and it is right there in the address header of the email). Typically what shows up there is the address book picture for that contact. If they attach an image it will be added to the address book.
So go to the contact in address book and change or delete the image.

How can I remove the gradient background & border from an ImageIcon?

Problem1: Hey, I have a program that randomly displays a stop sign that I'm supposed to click on as fast as I can. And I created a gif with the stop sign, with it's background transparent. How can I drag an image from a page in Safari to the finder and have it be saved as an *actual* image instead of a webloc?

Safari used to let me drag an image from a webpage to the finder and have the dragged file be saved as an actual image but now all that's saved is a webloc file. I want the image saved, not a reference to the image's URL - do I now have to always use "save as" to save it?
I can understand Safari creating a webloc file if I dragged the site icon from the location bar to the finder, but to make the default behavior for dragging things that are parts of a page (not the page itself) as webloc files seems like a HUGE step backwards for usability.
Does anyone know if there's, say, a key to hold when dragging to avoid saving a webloc file or a defaults command or something to make Safari revert back to sane draging behavior?

Good questions... I'll have to try and figure out when the problem first happened - I was thinking it was when I upgraded to Safari 5.1.4 but that might not be the case... I'll try your suggestions to see if any of them eliminate the problem (I have restarted recenlty and that didn't fix it) but I'll try repairing permissions,etc. Thanks!
hmmm... Mcbuffy: are you implying that you *don't* get the webloc when dragging an image out of Safari and that this isn't a caused by change to Safari but is a big/conflict in mine?

I want to create a Pages template with the logo of our company in the page header.
I'd like to put that image (logo) in the page header so that it will be repeated on every page but it will not modify the content of the page.
Anyone know how to achive this, or something similar without have to copy-paste that image every time we add a page to the document?

Turn off the Page Headers (not absolutely necessary, but since you don't need it, why not)
Put your Graphic on the page and make the following settings:
Then Insert > Text Box and make the same settings as for the graphic.
Place your "Header text" in the text box and arrange the box and graphic as you want them. Move both to Section Master using the Arrange menu.
