How can I remove photos from an album on my iPhone?

I am trying to remove photos on my iphone from an album from but when I remove the photos from the camera roll album they got removed in all the others albums so is htere any way to remove the pics from an album only and not from all the albums?

No. Albums you create on your phone merely contain pointers to the actual photos in your camera roll, not copies of the photos. If you just want the photos in albums, import the photos from your camera roll, delete them from your camera roll, then sync the albums back to your phone.

You can't remove individual photos from Photostream.

Hello,
I can't believe I'm having to ask how to do this in a forum, but I can't work out how to do it so have to:
How can I remove some images (a number of them just in case it's different from just one) from an album?
I've tried selecting a number of images then looking uner all the menu options (none that'll do what I want that I can see), control clicking to see the options (none that'll do what I want that I can see), dragging images over into the trash (just creates a new album with the dragged images), pressing delete (nothing), pressing delete while apple key pressed (nothing).
And also, how c-r-a-p is it that I have to write into a forum to find out the answer to such a simple question?! Quite humilaiating but in fact it should be seen as a flaw in the app as I have tried all reasonable things to delete some sodding images from an album.
Any ideas how to do such an obviously tricky thing would be very much apprecaited.

edit: the album I'm trying to remove images from is a dark blue one with a circle, not a light blue one -- that seems to make a difference. I can remove from light blue ones. I made the album I'm trying to remove from by using "New Smart Album" and choosing before today's date to get all the images in iPhoto into a new album from which I can selectively remove from -- although I can't remove from -- that's what this question is aboute.

It's a challenge to imagine what you consider to be "reasonable".
No need to imagine: the things I tried and consider reasonable to delete some images from an album were listed above what you quoted.
The concept of "smart albums" would seem, by definition, to exclude the manual addition of images to (or deletion from) such an album.
Not necessarily but if that's what the situation is OK. Not necessarily because the "smartness" may only take place when the album is created, or on a continual basis. So it's on a continual basis I guess that the smartness takes place. Then it isn't a smart album I want to be using in the first place. I'm trying to simply start off with all images in iPhoto and remove/pick away until I've got the ones I want. Using the smart album at the time seemed like the only quick way to get a new album containing all the images in iPhoto. I tried dragging all the images into a new album before using the smart album to make the new album and it started to take ages so I looked for a quicker way to duplicate all of iPhotos images into a new album.
So my question is now: what's the quickest way to make a new album of all the images in iPhoto?

How can I remove photos from my camera roll without deleting them from an album?

I have some photos in an album and also copies on my camera roll in. photos on my ipad2. I want to remove/delete from the camera roll without deleting them from the album. As far as I can see, when selected from the camera roll for deletion I am asked if I want to remove the photos from all locations - with no other options??

I have synced photos from my computer onto the iPad. There placed in a different album. How can I move them into the camera roll?

You could do it by setting up a Shared Photo Stream. Select the photos in the Photo app then tap the Shared button selecting Photo Stream. Just don't enter any email address and it will appear on your other devices. Only photos can be added and not albums so you will have to re-organize then on the iPhone.
I would recommend getting the photos to the computer as well though. Create a photo library on the computer and sync then over to the iphone with iTunes. The photo library on the computer can be added to a more reliable backup.

I guess like everyone else I've been messing around with photo stream and adding random pictures to test it out. But I'd like to be able to remove images from photo stream too but for thre life in me I can't find a way to do it. Doe's anyone have any idea/tips? Or has Apple just made a big mistake??

Check Pictures>Photo Stream>My Photo Stream. Note: when you turn it on you will only see photos from the last 30 days as photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days. If you want to stream older photos to your PC, create a shared photo stream containg the photos and invite yourself as a subscriber (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmc0cd7e99).

I would like get rid of the photos on my iPhone that show up when I go to Places in the Photos app on my 3Gs. I've already deleted the photos from iPhoto and resynced. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. When there are photos/videos in the Camera Roll, the iPhone is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer.
Import utilities include an option to delete the photos/videos from camera after the import process is complete. The same applies after importing photos/videos from the iPhone's Camera Roll.

Assemble the photos you want to tranfer into an album in iPhoto. Connect the iPhone to your Mac and launch iTunes.
In iTunes select your iPhone and under Photos select sync from iPhoto. Click on Selected Albums, select the album you created and and sync.
