How can I repair and speed up my Mac?
Computer really started to slow down about 6 months ago, kept buffering on everything. I added 4gb memory but this didn't really help much. I have been trying to repair via 'disk utilities, first aid' but getting message: ERROR: The underlying task reported fail:- 1HFS volume checked:- volume needs repair
What can i do?

First, backup your HDD immediately, you might indeed have a bad harddisk.
Next, please confirm which iMac model and OS X version you are using. Your signature here says 10.4.11 - is that true?

Sorry if that sounded not very helpful, but basically it comes down to that. Not much can improve the performance of machine of that vintage, to stand up to a current model, unless you spend almost as much on upgrades (some of which to consider are listed below).
Some thought should be given to the budget (money and time and effort) one is willing to spend. The G4 Digital Audio is possibly a good candidate for upgrading for someone who is interested in do-it-yourself computer stuff and bargain hunting for parts. It can even be a fun hobby. But even max-ing out all possible upgrades will still be lacking in performance compared to the current Mac models, I don't actually have any specific benchmarks, just my gut feel. And you may spend a good portion of the cost of a new machine on all those parts for the old machine.

Any of those CPUs should double your processing speed, but you may also need more RAM...or the CPU will just be waiting for data to be read from the virtual memory on the hard drive.

Even while I am trying to build a case to convince someone not to waste their money on this project, I am thinking to myself, where can I pick up one of these G4 towers to take on this project myself. Maybe a Quicksilver, no a FW400 MDD dual-boot for sure, I still have some OS 9 software. I did about all I can with my G3 Desktop, and spent more than my MacBook cost. -
HOW CAN I FIND AND DELETE CLEAN MY MAC
I have been haunted with this now for 2 years. I have tried everything I can think of to get this terrible software off my Mac, but hav failed. Every few minutes this software pops up and asks me if I want to delete my trash with it. Can someone show me how to find it?
This is my Mac specs:"CleanMyMac" is a scam and a common cause of instability and poor performance. The developer's instructions don't completely remove it. Follow those instructions, then do as below.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

How can I repair and open damaged PDF files?
I need to download every online issue of ASOS magazine, which are all PDF files, and I have already downloaded at least five to my USB stick, and they have all worked perfectly. However, there are five more issues that I have not downloaded, and I need to download them. To my frustration, every time that I download any of these files to the same USB stick, a box appears saying that the file cannot be open because it is damaged and cannot be repaired. I have followed your instructions and saved these files to my hard drive instead, but they are still damaged and do not open properly. Please tell me how I can open my files without Adobe Reader saying that they are damaged.
Steps to reproduce the bug:
I download an online issue of ASOS magazine from ASOS.com or Publitas.com; the latter is the official website for bask issues of ASOS magazine.
The file downloads as normal.
I open the file in Adobe Reader.
Result: A box appears saying that the file is damaged, and that Adobe Reader is trying to repair the file. Only a second later, another box appears, saying that the file cannot be repaired, thus not allowing me to view the file as normal.
The result that I want: No boxes appear saying that the file is damaged, and it opens as normal.The download links of the problem PDF files are:

My OS is WIndows Vista with Service Pack 2. The browser that I use is Internet Explorer.
The way I download these files is quite simple:
I open any one of the webpages whose URLs I have listed.
I wait a few minutes for the software that allows the magazine to be read online to load fully. Publitas.com allows entire magazines to be viewed online, and also, among many other features, provides viewers with a search engine which allows them to search for certain words or phrases in the magazine.
Once the software has fully loaded, on the toolbar at the top of the webpage (in the case of ASOS.com, the toolbar is underneath the various toolbars and boxes found on www.asos.com) there is a button featuring the Adobe Reader logo; when you hover your mouse over the logo, it will say 'download PDF'. To download the PDF file, you first click on the logo.
The 'View Downloads- Windows Internet Explorer' window will open. The name of the PDF file, and the URL on which it was found, will both appear in the window, under the Name column. Under the Location column, it will say, 'Do you want to open or save this file?'. Under the Actions column, there will be two buttons, saying Open and Save. I click on the arrow on the save button and choose to save the PDF to my hard drive, in the Documents folder (which is currently the default folder for saving PDF files).
That is how I download a PDF. -
How can I repair and/or access a non-launching User account?

I started another thread about this but maybe a more general User Acc't question is in order.
If a User won't launch, what can you do?
My old admin wouldn't launch. All other users would. So I used the hack that is easily googled and created a 2nd admin. I then could see the old admin folders in my new admin's Users folder. But I couldn't access anything. All the folders had a red/slash/circle on their little icons. I changed the old admin status to Standard but the little red/slash/circles remain. I copied a folder to my new desktop -- still no access. I can change permissions for each folder but there are jillions of them!
Is there a way to globally change permissions to all folders within a folder?
Is there a way to fix a User so it will launch?
Thanks!PS: I googled a bit and solved one of my questions myself: Niel's advice in the other thread is incomplete if you run into the problem that I did. You need to go to the little gear icon at the bottom of the Permissions pane in the Comm-I window. There you can select 'include enclosed' or something like that -- then all folders within a folder will also get their permission changed. I didn't know to do that until after an hour of further googling. So now I can access those files from the new admin.
I'd still REALLY like to know if it's possible to "revive" a User Acc't that isn't launching.

How can I repair a RAID 0 on mac pro hard drives?
I recently RAID 0 my drives 2-4 in my mac pro. These were each 2TB Constellation Seagate drives. It worked fine for about 15 minutes and then as I was copying some files from this 6TB RAID -- it just disappeared.
It shows up in the disk utility but won't let me repair the RAID. When I do repair each of the drives -- slices, they show no problems. My OS is 10.6.8.

You're using RAID Utility or command raidutil
The problem likely - new and latest firmware? isn't the drives possibly (can't know for now) but with the controller and in this case I assume you are using Apple Pro RAID. How long have you had the controller? any history with it? -

my airport extreme has connected to a Tplink router, i set my AE in Create network, so i get a problem of Double NAT. No, not unless it is simply a network connection.
How is your IPTV being provided.. if it is using a separate vlan or separate vpi/vci in the adsl connection. Who is your ISP?
Is the TP-Link ADSL?
Is the IPTV using a separate voice channel on adsl?
Or a different vlan.

Thanks for the question. The following article provides some solutions if your iPhone displays a "Disabled" message, and you have never synced with a computer:

If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer
If you see one of following alerts, you need to erase the device:
"iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."
"You haven't chosen to have [device] trust this computer"
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
5. iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

I updated iTunes to 10.4 version and now it doesn't start and send a messages "iTunes has detected an error and must be closed". Someone have the same problem and how can we repair our installation insted of change the windows XP installation? Best regards
Only way to get iMac starting again was to re-install 10.4.4 from DVD, and then update it into 10.4.6. For a while it worked perfectly, just as before.
Then I tried to print to CD with my EPSON Stylus Photo 950 from Adobe Photoshop Elements (2.0). It didn't print anything, but printer started flashing all lights. The print job was not performed, so I did remove it from the Printer Utility. After that the iMac started "ticking" again, same noise than before, after 10.4.7 installation. I did re-boot iMac. It never started, it does stuck on gray screen (gray block running clockwise). HW test from DVD didn't find any problems (extended search looping 3 times). But Disk Utility found hard drive to have inaccurate node structure, it could not fix it.
Apple support recommended to use DiskWarrior. However, it does not support (yet) Intel Macs. I haven't got TechTool Pro 4.5.1 anywhere. iMac does start on to FireWire mode (T at boot), but I cannot see the disk from 10.2.8 iMac.
So, obvisously the problem is not 10.4.7. I believe it to be ESPON printer driver compatibility on Mac OSX. This does not suprise me, EPSON printers *****, I shall never purchase one again. However, disk catalog structure should not get messed by one faulty printer driver! -
