How can I reset my iPad that is protected with my old Apple ID account, of which I no longer remember the password?
So I have an iPad 2 and I stopped using it for a couple of months and now I tried to hard reset it and got it to work but it says the iPad is connected through Find My Phone to my previous account and I can't seem to be able to solve the problem. I no longer have the receipt so it's hard to prove I am the owner. I bought it used but the owner didn't also have the receipt. I get that this is something difficult to solve but can someone give me a hand?!
If you were unable to convince a person that you are ther owner of the ID and ipad, then I doubt any computer system process will do it either.
Activation lock is meant as a theft detterent and cannot be bypassed, you own a very beautiful Brick.

It is Activation Locked. That is what happens when a device is Activation Locked. Everything is fine until you try to reset it, then you have to supply the iCloud Activation Lock password:

The password will not be sent to you, because Apple does not know it. They will send a link where you can reset the password. You cannot even restore the iPad to factory settings without the password. This is an anti-theft feature.
You will need to contact Apple and try to regain control of your Apple ID. It is entirely possible, however, for the hacker to make changes to your Apple ID that would make it difficult or impossible to do that. You need to act as quickly as possible! -

I had a new iPad mini retina and it worked ok for a couple of days then started turning on and off in a loop until the battery died. Even when charging it turned on and off constantly not leaving enough time to sync with iTunes or reset. Anyway apple replaced it today. I have come home. I let someone borrow my ipad and they have since gone back overseas. The problem I have is they are still signed into the icloud with there user name and password and i cant reset my iPad because of this.

Although your profile says you're running iOS 5.1.1 it sounds like you're running iOS 7 (otherwise you would not need your password to delete the old account). Assuming that's true, and your iCloud ID has changed but you need to delete the old account in order to change to your new one, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I'm trying to get Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan to play in iTunes but it keeps prompting me to authorize by asking for my Apple ID & Password. It defaults to my old ID which is a Yahoo email address that I deleted. I replace that ID with my Gmail ID and it says that I'm authorized to play the movie but it still won't play after I select PLAY. If I select Pause and Play again, the Apple ID prompt cycle begins again.
I'd delete this movie but I'm afraid that I will be charged again for redownloading it since there are now 4 versions of this film; Original, Director's Cut and their SD & HD versions.
Is there a solution that will allow me to play this film? One other thing, this plays in my Apple TV (latest model) but has no sound.
I'm confused.I tried but it won't let me even access the old Apple ID. It won't recoginze its old password and will not let me make a new one. (The site tells me it has sent an email to let me change the password but the email does not come.)

If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact AppleCare(or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan. -

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Your password for your Apple ID is not the same as the passcode for the screen lock on your iPad unless you set it that way deliberately, enabling the extra-long passcodes (the standard is a four-digit number). If you have a passcode to the screen lock that you've forgotten, restore the iPod from the computer to which the iPod is synced. For information and instructions, see:

You can't, i'm sorry. What you're running into is the activation lock and it requires that the original owner release it with their apple ID before you can set it up.

Do you have Google 2 stage authentication turned on?
If so, you wont't be able to use your normal google password, but will have to instead generate an "application specific" password for the iPad YouTube app in the google security settings section. -
