  • HT5622 How can I reset my passcode, which is different from my password?

Does anyone know if I can reset my passcode, which is different from my password? I would prefer not to reset to factory settings and lose my pictures and music.

    Back up all data.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with networks that require any kind of authentication other than a WPA or WPA2 Personal password.
When the Recovery screen appears, follow the prompts to reinstall the Mac OS. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac didn’t ship with Lion, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.

  • How do I reset a passcode that I don't remember?

I have an iPad that, mysteriously, had a passcode applied to it.  I do not know the passcode and I could not reset it to factory defaults.

Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
However, iOS 7 has more security.

  • HT4113 My daughter put a passcode on my iphone and now it disabled and wants me to connect to itunes. I did that but i am not at my home with my computer. How can I reset this passcode?

My daughter put a passcode on my iphone and now it is disabled. I am not at home where my computer is. I tried itunes already. Anything I can do?

You can only do it via iTunes. You'll have to force it into recovery mode.

  • How can I reset my passcode, when I dont have the original code?

My nieces were playing with Siri/phone and accidently set up a passcode on my phone, I can't unlock or open etc. Apple is no help at this moment.
Tried troubleshooting with iTunes, but an error message states the iPhone can not be syncked because passcode is locked.,

The easiest solution and apparently the only approved solution via Apple (although a pain if you haven't backed up your device) to restore the phone if you can't figure out the passcode. It will erase everything but if you have a fairly recent backup then you will be fine...you may only lose anything that was added after the last backup. You can also try searching the Apple Support pages and forum to see if there is another solution. Ultimately, it's a plus to a certain degree that there is no easy way to change the passcode....if someone "found" it and wanted to try to get in to it....but it's a pain when it's a situation like yours.

  • I can't get into my Ipad. I forgot the 4 digit. How can I reset that 4 digit code.

I finally replaced my broken digitizer after about 8 months. I charged it up, turned it on and bam, I get the passcode thing. I tried every code I could think of and can't get in. So what do I do now? How do I reset that passcode?

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad into Recovery Mode

  • How can I reset my lock passcode without plugging it into the computer or restoring it or resetting any data?

I went I to my phone and I tried to unlock my passcode but it did not let me in, how can I reset my lock passcode without plugging it onto the computer on iTunes, or restoring it or deleting any data ?

You don't. The only way to remove the passcode if forgotten is to restore the device. If you have a backup, you can restore to that last backup, but anything done since that last backup would be lost.Forgot passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

  • How can I check my passcode I updated today and when I am going to reset all content and setting my iPhone 4S they asked me for passcode when I entered the passcode the one I just update too is doesn't want to accept it

how can I check my passcode I updated today and when I am going to reset all content and setting my iPhone 4S they asked me for passcode when I entered the passcode the one I just update too is doesn't want to accept it

I have had the same problem with iPad recently not too sure why it happened but if you are completing a full reset anyway the easiest way is the restore via itunes on your computer and then set up a new passcode again. Resetting via itunes doesnt require a passcode so it should go straight through.
    Hope this helps
