How can I restore IE 10 after 11 installs?

Hello all,
Internet Explorer 11 automatically installed on my computer and now I'm having trouble logging into several sites (notably my online bank site and
eBay).  I want to go back to IE 10 or even 9 but haven't found a way to do that.  So far I've tried:
Turning IE 11 off (since you can't uninstall it)
Tried to install IE 10 but it says it's already installed (the same goes for IE 9)
Tried to find the .exe file for 9 or 10 (since it's still installed) but every iexplore.exe opens IE 11 and no other.
My last resort will be to do a complete computer restore to an earlier date before IE 11 was installed.  But I hate to do that.
The error I get on eBay is "If you are seeing this page, your browser settings prevent you for automatically redirecting to a new URL."
I can log in fine with Google Chrome but get nowhere with IE 11.  I’ve tried to find the settings that prevent a page from redirecting but can find nothing, plus IE 11 is totally different from previous versions so have to figure out where
the settings even are.
Can anyone offer any suggestions or tips to help me get back to an earlier version of Internet Explorer?  I’m really frustrated with IE all
together now and if there is no solution, I’ll just stay with Google Chrome.
Thanks,
Marcine

IE 11 is incompatible with a few things in my clients office including their Electronic Medical Records application and Dell server iDrac cards so trying to run in compatibility mode will not work.
Then you should try to find an emulation which does.  Compatibility mode (e.g. adding a site using Compatibility View Settings forces an IE7 emulation which some sites now explicitly reject.   Instead use the Developer Tools, Emulation tab
(F12, Ctrl-8) to find a more acceptable combination of Document mode and User-Agent string.
Unfortunately there is nothing in the UI which can make such a discovery persist.  However, you can report such compatibility issues here, so that as long as the site does not handle the IE11 UAS correctly, you can at least get an automatic override
for it which it does work with.
http://www.modern.ie/en-us/compat-issue-report
The IE 11 uninstall fails to work correctly and this prevents installing IE 9 or 10.
That's not how it works.  Uninstalling the IE11 update (if possible) returns the OS to the level of browsing functionality it had before the update which raised it to IE11 level.   Ditto for IE10.   So, if you were trying to switch
from IE11 to IE9 (if possible) you could only do it by first uninstalling IE11 and finding IE9 (if that is what you started from) or finding IE10 and then uninstalling that (if possible) in order to find IE9 (if there) or IE8.  If you backed out all the
way to IE8 (e.g. on W7) then you could try installing an update for your OS which referred to IE9.

  • Maybe this question has been found already, but I have yet to find the answer. How can I restore my bookmarks after it has been deleted from my 'bookmarkbackups' folder?

So it has been a couple months now since I last cleaned up my bookmarks toolbar. And I could remember a couple of bookmarks tabs I wish I did not delete. I found some articles saying I could try restoring previous versions of my bookmarks from the dates of recent system restore points. But the earliest date I found was of only last week's. I've checked everywhere in my Firefox profile for anything that I could restore to date back into that time, but they too only tracked back as early as last week. I believe the automatic backups Firefox had made during that time has now long been deleted from the system in order to make room for my most current ones. How am I going to be able to retrieve those bookmarks when their aren't any backups available now to restore from?

If you do not have backups of your bookmarks, either in the bookmarkbackups folder or saved elsewhere, then you can't restore your bookmarks.

Sorry there is no way to retrieve your lost pictures if you haven't backed up since 2013.
No software will recover those lost photos.
Did you at the very least import your pics to your computer as you would a digital camera?

  • How can I restore lost tags after optimizing Elements 10?

Today, after moving some folders that were incorrectly located (based on year/month/date) back to their proper location, I optimized the catelog.  I then discovered that all my keyword tags were missing, but the image caption and description ("Notes") were not lost.  This amounts to approximately 10 years worth of images.
Why did did I lose all the keyword tags?  How can I recover them?  I have not closed or restarted the Elements Organizer, nor have I tried to Repair the catalogs for fear of overwriting something that cannot be corrected.  When should the repair catelog be used?
I am using a Dell desktop computer with Windows XP.  We have an external HD for backup that is supposed to be constantly syncing for backup.
Where do we go from here.

When I  last posted questions and answers about this problem with the computer at work, I as at home, but had left the computer on and did not close the program.  Today, when I returned to address the problem as suggested above, I discovered the program had closed. Since my staff knew not to close it, I suspect that an automatic update from Microsoft for Windows or some other automatic caused a restart of the system.
When I re-opened the PE 10 Organizer all the keyword tags were present.  This was in spite of have not had the opportunity to try any of the much appreciated suggestions.  I do not know how the proble become solved but am glad it did.
While the problem has been resolved, it would be helpful to understand about writing information to a file so that the keywords are saved to the image file, which would be a way to save that information in addition to have the information saved in the catalog itself.
By the way, exactly where is the catalog file saved?  Does it save with multiple versions in case a newer one gets corrupted or lost?
Thank those of you who stepped in to help me with this problem.

  • How can I restore lost voicemails after iOS 5 update?

I've seen a lot of posts of this sort, but I've been trying to fix this issue for months and I really need some experienced help... When I updated my phone to iOS 5, I received a message saying my phone couldn't be restored because the backup was encrypted--I had neither requested nor set a password for this encryption. The phone now had none of my information on it, notes, texts, voicemail. I panicked, called Apple, and they helped me find a way to restore the notes from files in iTunes, which is a relief because I'm a writer and had a lot of work in there.
However, the phone started asking me for a voicemail password that to my knowledge, I had never set. I tried a few passwords and attempted a few other methods of recovery, all to no avail. So I reset my voicemail password, as all the online literature I could find suggested. However, the "password is incorrect, please enter your password" prompt then no longer showed up. After long deliberation I set up visual voicemail over again, but to my dismay I no longer have any saved messages.
At this point I have lost over a year's worth of text messages and voicemails. Some of these were incredibly important to me. I would love to recover all of it if possible, but I particularly care about the saved voicemails. Some of these were from my girlfriend during a difficult time in our lives and I really need them back. I also lost important texts from my girlfriend, best friend, and siblings, but the most important thing is the voicemails.
Nothing I'm concerned about is more than a year old, but there are around five or six voicemails I need. No, there is no deleted folder from which I can undelete messages, I know how to do that. My phone is not yet jailbroken but I'm not against doing it if it will allow other methods of restoration to be attempted. I do some coding myself and I'm not daunted by the prospect of sifting around in my computer's files and command line, by the way. I still have all the itunes backups, although half of them are still encrypted with an unknown password. I will pretty much try anything to get these messages back.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

I know of no way to remove encryption on iTunes backups if you've forgotton the password.  If you've used the 4 digit PIN code to lock your iPhone in the past that can sometimes default as your "password" for this encryption in iTunes.  Try that PIN or any PIN you've used in the past.  If you don't use a lock maybe you played around with that feature once when you first got your phone....try "1,2,3,4" or anything you could have possibly tried.
As far as accessing older unencrypted backups you can try this software.  I do not have any experience using it but it seems like it's what you need and is probably the easiest route for both voicemail and texts:
    http://deciphertools.com/products.html
If you want to try to find voicemails using Terminal, I found this link as well:
    http://mikereys.wordpress.com/2011/10/18/iphone-backup-restoring-visual-voice-ma il/
I know with AT&T, voicemails are only stored on their servers for 30 days so any voicemail older than that you would not have been able to access again.
    Best of luck.

Thank you very much! But I don't have backup...Any other methods I can use?
Since you don't have backups, you should plan for the worst. It's entirely possible that you'll never see those files again, so be prepared for that. Not having backups is one of the most dangerous things you can do with your computer.
First, you need to shut the machine down. NOW. Seriously, don't even read further, you can come back here on another device to read further instructions. Choose Shut Down from the Apple menu and then, once it has shut down, don't touch the machine again until you're ready to attempt recovery.

Don't you just love changes in interfaces?
I found the answer to my question.
When you attach a device (iPhone, iPad) to your Mac, in iTunes 12 in appears as a tiny icon in the second "row" of the iTunes display. Click the icon and the familiar iTunes display for the device appears. From there, on the Summary screen, you can see the dates of the backups of the device (iCloud and backup to the computer). You can also use the button to backup to the computer.

  • How can you restore photo stream photos back to Apple TV after accidentally deleting from your iPad

After accidentally deleting photo stream  photos on my iPad, this deleted photo stream photos on my Apple TV.  How can I restore these photos back to my Apple TV and also to  my iPad?  Suggestions welcomed

If you have a backup of your iPad prior to the date of deleting your photos, you can find them. Otherwise, you might be able to find them.
If you do have this backup, then you'll have to restore your iPad to that point.
If you had a Mac with iPhoto, then when you connected your iPad, iPhoto would store the photos separately from Photostream.
I despise Photostream. It's turned off everywhere on my system. It is one of the most useless pieces of junk that Apple has foisted on my Mac and iOS. But hey, that's just my opinion.

  • Mac OS no longer available after trying to remove Windows on Bootcamp. How can I restore Mac OS without the Mac HDD in options?

Mac OS no longer available after trying to remove Windows on Bootcamp. How can I restore Mac OS without the Mac HDD in options?
So what I did was, I had bought my iMac from a shop and asked them to do bootcamp for me. However, they installed 32 bit instead of 64. My fault, I did not make my self clear about it. So after it has been delivered to my house, I realized that I wanted the 64 bit. I tried to remove windows on bootcamp but honestly, I have not experienced this before. So I failed. I believe, I did something wrong.
So I opened the iMac and it keeps asking me to go to windows. Windows OS also corrupted.
I tried the Option Key but the only option is Windows 7 only. So using a different keyboard, I press option and it only shows Windows HDD and the Mac HDD has gone.
What am I going to do? How can I restore Mac OS without the HDD anymore?

Unfortunately you do not have direct access to iOS backs in iCloud.
I am not sure what you mean by:
It's locked with an enterprise (third party code)
Do you mean it is a corporate device and managed by Mobile Device Management software?
If so the IT department can reset the passcode.
Other than that, there is no third party iOS app that can lock the device at that level unless it is jailbroken and then no one here can help you.
