How can I restore lost videos from about 6 months ago that were sent to me via a message? I tried Itunes backup and it did not bring them back. Very important videos that were lost during an update. HELP!! and thanks!

It was my grandson who lost my videos..supposedly it happened when he was handling and update on my phone. Since then, the videos that my friend messaged to me last summer are gone. I did a backup today that should have included them, but they are still not to be found. And, of course, I really need them and to remake them will cost me a lot of money. Thank you for your help...maybe I am just doing something wrong when I do the backup. Should I use any certain program that will work better than Itunes?

A number of video transitions, in particular 3D Motion transitions, have been eliminated in CC 2014. How can I get them back? There are some that I use regularly. Another used wrote that simply "syncing" the older version of PP ("CC") to the Cloud, then opening and "syncing" PP CC 2014 would restore the missing transitions. I followed the instructions to the letter but the transitions are still not showing. Is there some kind of workaround? Otherwise I'm forced to remove CC 2014 and revert to CC. That's fine for one or two projects, but is obviously not a working solution.

How can I restore lost tags after optimizing Elements 10?

Today, after moving some folders that were incorrectly located (based on year/month/date) back to their proper location, I optimized the catelog. I then discovered that all my keyword tags were missing, but the image caption and description ("Notes") were not lost. This amounts to approximately 10 years worth of images.
Why did did I lose all the keyword tags? How can I recover them? I have not closed or restarted the Elements Organizer, nor have I tried to Repair the catalogs for fear of overwriting something that cannot be corrected. When should the repair catelog be used?
I am using a Dell desktop computer with Windows XP. We have an external HD for backup that is supposed to be constantly syncing for backup.
Where do we go from here.

When I last posted questions and answers about this problem with the computer at work, I as at home, but had left the computer on and did not close the program. Today, when I returned to address the problem as suggested above, I discovered the program had closed. Since my staff knew not to close it, I suspect that an automatic update from Microsoft for Windows or some other automatic caused a restart of the system.
When I re-opened the PE 10 Organizer all the keyword tags were present. This was in spite of have not had the opportunity to try any of the much appreciated suggestions. I do not know how the proble become solved but am glad it did.
While the problem has been resolved, it would be helpful to understand about writing information to a file so that the keywords are saved to the image file, which would be a way to save that information in addition to have the information saved in the catalog itself.
By the way, exactly where is the catalog file saved? Does it save with multiple versions in case a newer one gets corrupted or lost?

How can I restore lost voicemails after iOS 5 update?

I've seen a lot of posts of this sort, but I've been trying to fix this issue for months and I really need some experienced help... When I updated my phone to iOS 5, I received a message saying my phone couldn't be restored because the backup was encrypted--I had neither requested nor set a password for this encryption. The phone now had none of my information on it, notes, texts, voicemail. I panicked, called Apple, and they helped me find a way to restore the notes from files in iTunes, which is a relief because I'm a writer and had a lot of work in there.
However, the phone started asking me for a voicemail password that to my knowledge, I had never set. I tried a few passwords and attempted a few other methods of recovery, all to no avail. So I reset my voicemail password, as all the online literature I could find suggested. However, the "password is incorrect, please enter your password" prompt then no longer showed up. After long deliberation I set up visual voicemail over again, but to my dismay I no longer have any saved messages.
At this point I have lost over a year's worth of text messages and voicemails. Some of these were incredibly important to me. I would love to recover all of it if possible, but I particularly care about the saved voicemails. Some of these were from my girlfriend during a difficult time in our lives and I really need them back. I also lost important texts from my girlfriend, best friend, and siblings, but the most important thing is the voicemails.
Nothing I'm concerned about is more than a year old, but there are around five or six voicemails I need. No, there is no deleted folder from which I can undelete messages, I know how to do that. My phone is not yet jailbroken but I'm not against doing it if it will allow other methods of restoration to be attempted. I do some coding myself and I'm not daunted by the prospect of sifting around in my computer's files and command line, by the way. I still have all the itunes backups, although half of them are still encrypted with an unknown password. I will pretty much try anything to get these messages back.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I know of no way to remove encryption on iTunes backups if you've forgotton the password. If you've used the 4 digit PIN code to lock your iPhone in the past that can sometimes default as your "password" for this encryption in iTunes. Try that PIN or any PIN you've used in the past. If you don't use a lock maybe you played around with that feature once when you first got your phone....try "1,2,3,4" or anything you could have possibly tried.
As far as accessing older unencrypted backups you can try this software. I do not have any experience using it but it seems like it's what you need and is probably the easiest route for both voicemail and texts:

I know with AT&T, voicemails are only stored on their servers for 30 days so any voicemail older than that you would not have been able to access again.

Hard drive had to be wiped - I did have a backup up of my "published" site, but not the ".sites" file that resides in the Apllication Support/iweb folder.
Anything I can do besides spending an entire day to rebuild from scratch?
By the way, how does Apple not recognize the ABSURDITY of not being able to save a file of your project?
It's also RIDICULOUS that you buy the iweb software but apparently can only design and upload 1 website. No other program works like. Has anyone at Apple ever responded to the criticism? (because I know I am not the first to find these features incredibly annoying)

Unfortunately if you don't have a copy of the Domain.sites2 file you will have to rebuild your site from scratch. Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the creation of the new site.

Where did you get that idea? I have domain files with 5 or 6 sites in them. However, only one can be published at a time. The capability of managing multisites in iWeb has been around since iWeb Version 1. Here's the contents of just one of my many Domain.sites2 files:

I've tried restoring to an earlier date and only the newer version of mozilla comes up without the bookmarks that I had in the older version of mozilla. I didn't do a backup of my bookmarks in the older version before uninstalling it. I thought mozilla would just keep them in my newer version of mozilla. I would like to get the bookmarks back that were in my older version of mozilla.

Did you chose to remove personal data when uninstalling?
Firefox will delete your profile folder in that case and you lose personal data like bookmarks.

That won't work. You need forensics software/hardware to "try" and recover the video. Such is not cheap.

Are you using Photostream? If yes, then you will be able to see your 1000 most recent photos on your Mac in iPhoto.
All your contacts, calendar events, emails, etc. will still be on your Mac as part of iCloud.
If you didn't import your videos from your iPhone to your Mac, then you've lost them unless you can restore your cloud backup to another iOS device.

I thinks , I pressed restore, and then it restored everything from the previous backup. Unfortunately the most recent photos and videos were not included so I reckon they are lost forever...

I needed to restore the phone and I didnt realize my back-up was 1yr old, and now the phone is restored and I've got a year old contact list and iMessage chat history. Luckily my iMessage on the Mac is still valid and has all the chat history. My question is how can I restore iMessage chats on my iPhone 4 from my Mac? I have all the chat history on my Mac, but there seems to be no sync function from Mac to iphone. Please advice.

If things seem to be going haywire with your phone, it seems that it MAY be a software issue.
Now, that being said, that does not necessarily mean that it is a virus. Software issues do happen sometimes. It is probably just coincidence.
What you need to do is restore the device using iTunes. This will fix any software issues. After you have done this, you can restore from an iCloud backup.
iCloud does not back up the actual software, so no, the "virus" would not have gotten into the backups.

hmm thats kinda odd! how he managed to do that i dont know I thought the backups were locked per phone or phonenubmers serial. Anyhow IF you have no backup at all then you have lost everything. There is software out there that can recover data on the phone that was deleted.. I would personally click restore on Itunes and restart over. You cant get back what you lost that easy and software that does recover deleted data may not allways work 100% and costs money for the software..
Lesson learned huh..
