How can I restrict certain apps to cellular data only?

Product Name: iPhone 6
Product iOS: 8.3
Background: I listen to Pandora at work through my iPhone 6. My work has pandora traffic blocked through their WiFi network. I want to keep my iPhone connected to the work WiFi because 1) I don't want to turn on and off my WiFi on my phone 2) I want to my email and other apps to use WiFi since they are not blocked.
Current Workarounds (not a solutions):
1) Turn off and on WiFi on iPhone 6- This is a pain/hassle and I forget to turn the WiFi back on.
2) Switching to a different streaming music providers that aren't blocked by work WiFi- I pay for Pandora One and I like this service the best. I really don't want to switch.
3) Download music to iPhone memory- I pay for Pandora One and I'd like to use it.
4) Jailbreak- Not sure if this a solution but I'd rather not jailbreak my device.
Question: How can I restrict certain apps (Pandora) to use cellular data only?
Best Regards,
Chasen

The network settings in iOS are global and do not support assigning specific networks to specific apps. You cannot do what you describe.

  • How can I control which apps use cellular data?

Sometimes I marvel at Apple's amazingness and sometimes I can't believe the holes.  Googling around I get the impression that iOS/iPhone provides no means for a user to take control of their data plan and set which apps are permitted to use cellular data and to track cellular data usage on an app by app basis.  Am I the only one that finds it unbelievable that an operating system designed for a cell phone that supports adding piles of sometimes sketchy 3rd party apps doesn't have this baked right in?  There seem to be a few apps try monitor overall aggregate data usage, but they are useless at getting to the root cause.
So, I hope I'm just missing it.  How do I figure out which broken, buggy, misconfigured app I stupidly installed is eating my data plan?  Maybe Android is a better choice for guys like me that are too busy to play whack a mole uninstalling and reinstalling apps for hours and days to try to solve such a tedious mystery.
    Thanks!

  • How can I keep certain apps from starting at login?

I have Break Reminder installed. It isn't compatible with certain accessibility tools. It isn't something that I want to start every time I use the computer. But it does start every time I use the computer. I don't tell the computer to restart apps at start up. I don't list the apps in the Login Items list. It just starts itself. How can I keep it from starting itself?

go to system preferences / Users Groups / Login items
(make sure your lock at bottom left side of window is unlocked) if it isn't you will be asked to insert your user password if you don't have one just hit enter (unlock)
from there you get to choose your startup applications simply add/remove  with +/- under the windows
once you made changes don't forget to lock the lock to prevent changes and you should be set
    good luck

  • How can I hide certain apps and also prevent apps to be deleted without my permission?

I have a young daughter that watches movies and plays games on my itouch.  I love that she enjoys it, but sometimes while using it, she goes to apps that are not appropriate for her, and also she accidentally deletes apps.  Is there some kind of parental control...or just any feature that can hide the apps I don't want her to go on...and also something I can do to prevent her from accidentally deleting apps?  Thanks!

You can turn restrictions on that keep her from deleting apps. As for hiding apps, I don't know if that's possible. You could hide the apps in a folder wouldn't have interest in such as a news or utilities folder if she's playing games and watching movies. Hope this helps.

  • How can I tell which apps are using data

Perhaps this is a suggestion, just in case someone who is in a position to note this at Apple (not likely?) might read it.
How about an app included in the OS that allows users to track which apps are transmitting and receiving data through cellular data and/or wireless.
I keep getting charged by AT&T (it took restraint to not type a bunch of explatives before AT&T) for escessive data usage, even though I'm in wifi 90%+ of each day, and purposely restrict using it when not in wifi. Seriously, I don't now how I could use it less barring not using it at all, and I still get charged for data. I have no idea how to control this since I cannot tell which, if any, apps are transmitting data in the background, or if that's even possible.
Seriously annoyed at getting charged extra when the 'service' they provide barely works for me the miniscule amount of times I try to use it.

  • How can we restrict users from changing the data in HFM.

    Hi All,
We have requirement from users where, They don't want the base data being loaded from SAP to HFM via FDM through ERPi to get changed in HFM at <Entity Currency>. They want data to be read only and no body should be able to change neither Grid nor Forms and neither Smart View. If we restrict by Shared services access then again they can't change ownership management value.
    Regards,
    Sushil

Hi Thanos, Thanks for your reply.
Yes i am aware of the security class, so your suggestion is to use security classes to restrict users? And how can i use the phased submission for the same?  I am new to HFM so please bear with me.
I have one more question that my Application is HFM EPMA application. So is it necessary to have Application Administrator to change hierarchy and Deploy the Application from EPMA?
    Thanks,

  • How can I distribute an app for specific customers only

I have developed an app that our customers can take to a remote site, input data at the site, then return to the office and upload their data to software that they purchased from us.  This app would be useless to anybody that does not have our software.
We could put it in the App Store but anybody could download it (not that it would do them any good).  We would like to have an easy way for our customers to obtain the app (like the Store), but not just make it available to anybody.  It is
free to our customers since they already have a license for our software.
I am aware of the enterprise sideloading option but that seems problematic as well and your own documentation says to use the store if you are deploying to users outside your company: "Enterprise
apps usually fall into one of two categories: apps you deploy to users outside of your company (including customers and business partners), and apps you deploy only to users within your company.  If
you want to make your app available to people outside of your company, your best option is to list the app in the Windows Store. "
In addition, with enterprise sideloading, there seems to be some sort of licensing requirement and you have to purchase 100 of them?  Why is there a licensing fee if you can upload your app to the store and customers can get it for free?  Our customers
are not going to want to purchase 100 licenses since they only need a handful and we are not going to provide them either.  So, back to the Windows Store.
There should be some sort of Store option that maybe requires a password to access and download the app, plus provides a category that is actually suitable for enterprise apps (the categories in the store are very limited and none seem applicable).
Anyhow, I'm hoping you can help clear this up for us.
    Thank you,
    Karen Healey

  • How can I restore an app and its data from an old ipad to a new ipad without restoring from backup?

When I purachsed and iPad 2 to replace my old iPad I did not want to restore it from backup for obvious reasons.  However, there are apps that have data stored in them that I have lost the data for, what can I do to get the app and data back on the new iPad without losing the data that was already in the app?

The reasons may be obvious to you, but it makes no sense to me. I would think that you would want all of the content that you had transfered onto your new iPad.
However, there are apps that have data stored in them that I have lost the data for, what can I do to get the app and data back on the new iPad without losing the data that was already in the app?
If you lost the data in the apps, you can't get it back unless you restore from a backup - assuming that the backup DID have that data in the apps..
The only way that you can get the apps PLUS the app data onto the new iPad is to restore the new iPad from a backup of the original iPad and sync the apps back onto the new iPad if necessary.

  • How can I restrict X11 apps to my primary display?

The question's in the subject line, but here's why.
I have a secondary display attached to my iMac and I find it very useful as a dumping ground for useful ancillary windows and apps. The arrangement of my workspace dictates that the secondary display be located to the left of and below my iMac's screen. I have it set up so that my cursor tracks from one to the other with reasonable accuracy, allowing for the difference in pixel-pitch.
There are a couple of X11 apps that I use regularly that insist on positioning their windows such that their left edges are aligned with the left edge of the secondary display, while their top edges are aligned with that of the primary, meaning there is a sizeable chunk of those windows that is effectively invisible and unclickable, including their "traffic lights" and, this being X11, their menu-bars. I means that every time I start these apps, I have to reposition their windows.
This is very annoying, to say the least. I don't want to move the secondary monitor, either to the right of my primary screen or to align their top edges. I just want X11 to be completely unaware of the secondary screen's existence, while Leopard is still able to use it.
There must be a config that I can insert into a profile somewhere. I've searched far and wide for an answer without success. Can anyone here help me out?

Alright, I've done the research for you, as well as experimented make sure it worked.
On your Mac add the following to $HOME/.Xresources
    xclock*geometry: 5020
    Now execute the following command:
    xrdb -merge $HOME/.Xresources
Now either from a remote system or locally, invoke
    xclock
This worked both from my Mac OS X Leopard system and from a RedHat EL4 Linux system. Also worked on my Mac OS X Tiger system.
Substitute xclock with the names of your applications. If xclock works for you, but your applciations do not, then it is your applications, or the names you are using to invoke the applciations are not the names being advertised to X11.
You can get info about a specific X11 window using
    xwininfo
then click on the X11 window you want information about. This should tell you the name of the application controlling the window
    xwininfo: Window id: 0x80000a "xclock"
NOTE: I did a google search on "Xresource geometry", and found an example in the 3rd match. I had to dig a little more to find the xrdb command.

  • How can I restrict certain columns in SharePoint?

I have created a SharePoint list. Is there any way to create a column where only specified users can edit it?

    Hello,
What version of sharepoint you are using?
As scott said no OOTB solution but you can either write code or buy third party tool. I know about "ListFieldIterator" which can iterate all fields in list and allow us to provide security at column level. Here is some ref link for you:

  • How can I restrict a search to one folder only?

The problem: I have many files with the same designation (i.e., img038.tif -- usually from a scan). I would like to search only within one folder (sometimes with subfolders, as well as files), rather than in my entire computer.
    Is that possible?

  • Why can't i see "Find iPhone" App under cellular data so I can turn it on?

Why can't i see "Find iPhone" App under cellular data so I can turn it on?

    We have cell data plan.
I have other phones (4s) and can see "Find Phone" App under Cellular Data and can turn on/off.  But the problem phone does not have "Find IPhone" to be able toturn on/off.  I made sure app is running when i go to Cellular Data. I guess the question is why do Apps show up under Cellular Data to be able to turn on/off?  I thought if the app was made for Cellular Data it automatically showed up under Cellular Data.

    Hello Sophie59
You should be able to see two different tabs when setting up the email if you go to Other > Add Mail Account. Once you enter in the email address and password, you should be at the next screen to provide more details about the email as far as incoming and outgoing servers and at the top there will be a blue section to add it in as a POP or IMAP email account. • How can I restrict a vendor with certain value limit?

    Hi Gururs,
How can I restrict a vendor with certain value limit?.
    Scenario is like this
If my company was decided to purchase goods from a particular vendor upto Rs.1000, if cross the rs.1000 limit don't allow the Posting the PO and get the Message as warning/error.
Give the configuration setting's and T.codes
    Thanks and regards
    G.N.Rao

    Hi
Go to T.Code oms4 and then select the material status BP (Blocked for purchasing)
    Click on Details
In that under Purchasing select the option A= Warning or B=Error
    Click on Save
Thus by doing this no further purchasing function for that material can be done. So the PO can not be issued
So as and when the value limit reaches see that purchasing option is blocked
So no further PO are generated in the future
I hope this helps you out
    If found useful reward accordingly
    Thanks

Hi! i believe there is no preinstalled app than can do that for you, however you can use a third party software, such as this: http://www.bitworks-engineering.co.uk/Apps/TimeLock_App/Welcome.html or this https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/parental-timelock-time-limit/id689577280?mt=8
