At 84, I'm too old a dog to start re-learning, the new 4 version is completely different, and I can't figure out how to configure menus, and etc. Please tell me how to go back to previous version 3.XXX

You cannot return to previous state. The update re-locked the iPhone
to the original carrier. You must contact the original carrier to see if
they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>Carrier?
Be advised that if your iPhone had previously been hacked/modified/
jailbroken to work with other than original carrier, it may be impossible
for the original carrier to unlock it properly.

My dad gave me his old iphone as he got an upgrade. I can't seem to change his icloud account to mine. I'm getting his updated calender and his mail - and there seems to be some confusion between both our accounts. He seems to be acquiring some of my contacts - some of which have names which have led to some probing questions... So basically this needs to be sorted out! How can i delete his account from the iphone but not his whole icloud account? he would not be happy if i did this...

yes it is still the same os5
it only backsup your info a restore will still put ios5 on your phone.
you should look in your recycle bin and save the file in it if you want to go back to ios4.

I just upgraded computers and did a clean install without Migration Assistant. How can I import the previous recipient list in Mail? As a way of having a backup, I deleted my address book on the old computed, added all the previous recipients to the Address Book, and exported the address book as an Address Book Archive and also a VCF file.

To answer your question, the new AIO is also a Canon, an MG8120 - I could be wrong, but I got the impression the printer removal might have been part of the Lion upgrade code. i.e. "I see you have a new printer, do you want to keep the old printer that I can't find?"
I see the IJScanner and Devices folders. Given that both AIOs are/were Canons, any suggestions on how to remove just the MP970 components without affecting the MG8120 ones? (The ones in the TWAIN Data Sources were clearly labeled, so it was easy to tell what belonged to what.)

I have the latest version of Firefox, 5.0 installed today, but no arrow in upper left part of screen that previously would let me return to previous page.

can I somehow edit the location of where I can find all the sheets (right now they are on top of the page, and you can't see all of them listed at quick glance but must scroll/arrow through them)
On my machine I just hit shift-command-j (the keyboard shortcut I assigned in System Preferences) and a list of the sheets in the current document pops up:
I type a number from the list and jump immediately to that sheet. The hands never have to leave the keyboard.
(This particular document had a sheet named for each month. But the sheets in your document automatically will be listed instead.)
This is done via a Jump to Sheet Automator Service (Dropbox download). To install just doubleclick the .workflow package and (if needed) click 'Download Anyway' in System Preferences > Privacy & Security.
Installation will cause a new item to appear in your Numbers > Services menu. Then, if you want a keyboard shortcut, go here in System Preferences and add one:
You can rename or remove the service by holding down the option key in Finder and choosing Go > Library > Services. You can also view the AppleScript contaned within the service by opening the .workflow package in Automator.
Note, also, that in Numbers 3 you don't have to use those left-right arrows upper right to slowly scroll left-right to the sheets that are out of view. Just move your cursor up to the "band" with the "tabs" and drag left or right. That's much faster than using the arrows.

I converted VHS home movies to DVD years ago on the origonal iMovie app. How can I edit those DVD's now? Do I need a third party app to convert the DVD files for use in the new iMovie?

Yes, you need to 'reverse engineer' the highly compressed mpeg2 format of the DVDs.
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:

Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
If you are running Lion:

The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it.
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

Ever since updating to 10.7.0.21 I have been unable to watch any of the videos that I purchased through itunes. As I have spent a lot of money on these videos, this is VERY frustrating. I have had a thread up on this topic for over a month now (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4336523) with no luck.
I would like to return to the previous ios, since everything worked fine then. Could anyone give me instructions on how to do this (or point me to them)?

What do you really want to do, downgrade iOS (not supported) or revert to a previous version of iTunes on the computer?
If the former, as already stated it is not supported.
If the later, simply uninstall the current version and install an older version. Keep in mind that the iTunesLibrary.itl file will have to be deleted as it's been created with a newer version of iTunes.
