How can I return to where I left off on a menu?

I have a menu with 6 items in it. When you select each item you are taken to that page and then you click on the return to menu button and are taken to the number 1 item on the list each time you return to the list.
I want to come back to where I left off in the menu rather then starting over each time. So, if I am on list item #2 and come back to menu I want to come back to list item #2 to navigate down to item #3 or even come back to list item #3. I do not want to came back to list item #1 everytime and then have to scroll down farther each time.
Any help in the right direction?

If you 6 menu buttons are pointing to Tracks then select the Track and in the property inpector you can set the Menu Remote Control options. Set Menu to the button on the menu you want to jump to.
You can set this option individually for chapters in a Track also so,

Return to where I left off on a song...

I listen to a lot of long mixes on my iPhone. Is there a way to pickup a song where I left off so I wouldn't have to start at the beginning of the song when I decide to come back to it?

In iTunes, right-click any song, select "Get Info", under "Options", "Remember Playback Position". You can batch change them all, in iTunes, if you like. No way to do this on the phone.

You should be able do it with iBooks - go into Settings > iBooks on both devices and set Sync Bookmarks 'on'

you'll need to build that yourself. you can use the flash sharedobject unless you need to store user progress in a central (server-based) database.

Going back to where I left off in a document

I am an old Pocket PC user so please bare with me. I have some stories and books that I have as Word doc files. With my old Pocket PC I could turn the unit off any where in the document and turn it back on, open Pocket Word and be right back to where I was when I shut down. Using Quick Office I can go back to where I left off if I just let it go into sleep mode. If I turn the unit off, for instance over night and go back to Quick Office you end up starting back at the beggining of the document and have to find your place again if you can.
Is there a way to save or tag where you finished reading so that you can return to it?
Would the Kindle app or something like allow me to do that?
Any help will be appreciated.

You can save the document in Quick Office by clicking on the return arrow on the device. The following options will appear:
1. Discard
2. Save
3. Save As
4. Cancel

I have gone into iTunes and placed my current book as the first "song" on my iPod for ease of finding it, but often the MMI starts it over at the beginning. I think my iPod, which is an iPod touch 3rd generation , which is a lot different from a nano, which really makes it almost impossible for me to help you, which is why I suggested that you post your question in the iPod nano community. Your first post says that your product is an iPod nano. I think the people who answer those questions would be most likely to help you. If yours isn't a nano then you can pick the right community from here. This community is really to answer questions about this forum, or issues that don't fit anywhere else.

Assuming that you have Reader 9.3.4 already installed on your machine, you can try the following to make Reader 9.3.4 as the default PDF opening application:
1. Right click on any PDF on your system and click on the "Open With" Option in the context menu that appears. In case you get another submenu, click on Chose Program in that menu. (In case you do not see any "Open With" option, then hold down the Shift key and right click on the file)
2. Click on Browse button in the dialog that appears, and select Reader 9. Make sure that you select the checkbox for "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file"
3. Click on OK.
This will make Adobe Reader 9 as the default viewer for all PDFs on your system.

In iTunes I would like to set it to bookmark where I am holding in a song on my iPOD. Let's say I want to play a song that I listen to yesterday and stopped playing it in the middle on my iPOD. iTunes does not have provision for automatically storing one kind of media on a separate drive, so you have some basic decisions to make first. Do you want these movies to still appear in your iTunes library, or are you content with browsing filenames on a drive in Finder when you want to look for one? The second's the easiest thing because then you don't have to have an external drive permanently turned on and attached to your computer (wired or wireless). To do that you literelly only need to drag your movies folder to an archive drive and delete movies from iTunes. To watch them again you can add it back to iTunes while holding down the option key so the movie is used from its location on the external drive.
There's ways to move the movies to an external drive while keeping them in iTunes but the external drive iwll always have to be turned on and connected to the computer or you will see a bunch of broken link exclamation marks.
Realize what you are talking about is not "backup". Backup (which you should do) is putting a second or more copy of items on external drives for the day when your internal drive fails and everything on it is lost, inclduing all your home photos and perhaps things that have been pulled from the iTunes Store and can no longer be re-downloaded.

I have thousands of photos. When I select a photo and edit it I want to return to the Organizer where I left off. I don't want to go to the most recent photo and have to find my way back to where I was. Is there a way to make this happen?

I am trying to follow your very precise steps, and in my case (PSE11 also, Win7), the focus stays on the edited picture after I return from the editor to the Organizer. I am pretty sure that in the previous post describing your situation, I was able to reproduce the problem, but I don't remember on which version. I just tried in 'Folders' view mode to edit in a selected folder, then I clicked 'All media' so that no folder was selected. Same result in both cases.
Even if you prefer to work in folders view, you could take advantage of the ability to use 'albums'. It's a misleading word to describe a selection, a 'collection' of pictures, which you can sort as you want. It's a kind of 'playlist' like with music items. In the organizer, you can select a folder and create an album (even a temporary one) just by choosing 'create instant album'. Suppose you have made an album from a folder or a selection of highlighted pictures to edit. You can order them in date order, import batch or 'custom' order'. Since PSE12 you can also sort them in filename order. You should never lose the 'focus' on your last edited picture when coming back from the editor to the organizer. If the purpose of that album is only to help in organizing an editing session, you simply delete the album (the playlist) if you don't want to keep the list afterward.
I hope someone will be able to confirm how that can happen...

I'm new to developping Web Services. I'm doing some tests with JDeveloper and OC4J on my local machine with a Web Services based on a PL/SQL function within a package. Right now that function only returns one value. So the xml response only has one output.
I'd like to know how can I return multiple values with my PL/SQL Web Service. For example, if I want to return an employee's name and id? And that the xml contains two output : <employee>, <empid>?

Alright, I actually found my answer. Since this was asked I think as a followup somewhere else I'll give my answer.
It is very simple, all you have to do is create an Object Type and then Return that object type. After that, JDeveloper will take care of everything and you will have an xml response with multiple values. Here

How can I return to the top of an array indicator

I have in my UI a 1D array indicator that I will navigate to and populate with different lists of items depending on other selections. Always text elements.
I have limited the number of visible rows to 20 max even though some lists will contain dozens if not hundreds of elements while others may have less than 10. Problem is, if I scroll down the list for one population, then come back and the next list happens to have only 10 elements, the scroll bar is still way down where I had scrolled to earlier. It is basically showing unpopulated positions in the array. (Not blank list items)
How can I return the scroll position back up to the first element in the array when I populate it with a new list? I looked through every property node and could find nothing. Seems like there should be a method to refresh the display or it should go back to the top when you write a new value to it.
Any thoughts?
