How can I rotate a clip, but then crop it normally?

I am trying to use Final Cut Pro X to edit a video I shot with my iPhone 4. In the video is a piece of paper. The iPhone wasn't perfectly level when I shot the video, so the paper is skewed (well, rotated) a bit.
After adding a small rotation, the paper was good to go. However, now I want to crop out all of the stuff around the paper. However, when I try to use the crop tool on the clip, the cropping lines are ALSO rotated. I don't want this.
i.e. The cropping is following the border of the clip, and so the cropping edge is also rotated. Because the focal point of the clip is not rotated properly, I don't want the cropping edge to be rotated, I want it to be straight.
Is there any way to do this in FCPX, without exporting/reimporting?

For future seachers, I would recommend using "Scale" in the "Transform" set. Since rotation is going to be around the center of the frame, anything you want to get rid of will be pretty much equal on all sides, so scale works fine for this. It also ensures that your video still fills the full frame, as Mask won't do that, it will leave black space in the bits you've masked out.
I ended up doing this as my initial thought was to rotate and then crop, but since crop comes before rotate in the processing order, you're cropping pre-rotation as ConnorN notes. But scale seems to get applied afterwards, so it works just fine. You can also keyframe it so you can keep as much of your frame as possible, much like how image stabilization works internally.

Drag the clip from your Event to your Project. Then use the Rotate, Crop, Ken Burns Tool on the Middle Toolbar to rotate it

It's a waterfall, I filmed it vertically, but it displays horizontally. Full Edit doesn't work on film clips and the rotate option is greyed out.

If you do not have a "cut-away," as Steve mentions, then with those problem Frames removed, I would add a Cross-Dissolve between the two Clips (two Clips, after you have cut out the offending footage), BUT, one thing to consider with any Dissolve Transition, is Handles. You need enough to allow for the Transition - so you might need to Trim the first Clip a few Frames more, and the following Clip, a few Frames less. You do not want to edit material from different frame rates on one timeline. You CAN do this, but it is a very bad idea - and this is why.
Once you establish the sequence frame rate - lets say it is PAL material at 25fps, any material that you drop into the sequence other than 25 fps will have to be changed to play at 25 fps. If the material you add is NTSC (29.97), FCP will DROP 5 frames per sec to bring the frame rate down to 25 fps. Which 5 get thrown away? Every 6th one. This yields a funky cadence that becomes even more complex as as there are also interlaced fields (DV/NTSC is an interlaced format). Oh, and by the way, the image sizes are different as well. DV/PAL has 576 lines of resolution and DV/NTSC has 480. FCP has to scale up the NTSC to fit the PAL frame.
You do not want FCP adjusting these things on the fly. You want to do a thoughtful (and time consuming) conversion so that you end up with all your material in one format with the best possible image from the conversion process. Compressor can do an adequate job with Frame Controls turned on. The Natress Standards Conversion FCP plugin is another way to go. A third option is to find a post house that can do the conversion for you using a hardware based process.
The good news is, once everything is in the same format, editing it will be painless and the output process very quick.
Whatever frame rate/ image size you select, I'd suggest using ProRes for the codec. It is 4:2:2 color and will withstand color correction and composting with much more grace than any variant of DV based codecs.

If it's just a clip, you can simply go to the other project and Add Media/From Files and Folders.
But if it's a part of your movie -- say a sequence of clips or a clip that's had effects added to it -- you technically can't cut and paste betweeen projects in Premiere Elements. However, some people have been able to do it using the third party program ClipMate, available online.

and messages of Receiver 2 into another multi line container2.

There are two webservices are 2 receivers.
In the idoc there is specific segment , which occurs unbounded,Each occurence we Need to check the value of a particual field and send to corresponding Receiver.
For Ex:
ZE1KONH (1..Unbounded)
   >MSFGN =004 --> Rec1
>> MSFGN==0009 Rec2
It could be like , 1 or more segm for Rec1 and 1 or more segm for Rec2
                        all are for Rec1 or All are for Rec2.
so in the tranformation we need to put all message of Rec1 in corresponding multiline container as well for Rec2. Then i need to send to correspongind Receiver.
So here i need to send all splited messages to appropriate receivers

I set Markers (keyboard: m) to the original edit-points
I have the pre-selections of my material in the Events browser, set edit-mode to 'video only'/shift-2
set playhead to marker (magnetic is a good help), hit q
'fine tune' the edit (edit/colors/effects/...)
select clip and cmd-shift-arrow-down to apply final edit to the storyline
jump to next marker (ctrl-' )
That is a very fast way to 'dub' professional edits; and: I'm learning a lot, e.g. it is not only the edit-points, but the 'content' which makes a good edit 'flow' (which lacks my version) ...

That key has ° and ¨ on it on my keyboard and it doesn't work.
But I found it by holding down the < key (to the left of Z).
So now I can rotate etc. patterns manually after about 3 decades of doing it numerically through the dialogue :-)

Try plugging it into a computer with iTunes opened. If you see anything that says restore, say no.
Sometimes these issues resolve themselves when you connect the device to iTunes.
What happens when you hold the home and sleep/wake button? I know it doesn't work, but does it shut off at all?
