I am reformating my hard drive and want to save my bookmarks toolbar in firefox. How can I do this so I can reload it when I reinstall it?

Hi ronbar59, when you're in the Customize mode, can you confirm that "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" is on the correct bar and not somewhere else in the interface?

How do I do this?

A couple of methods.
If you want the bookmarks on the other computer to be replaced with the bookmarks on your current computer, follow the procedure in the [[Backing up and restoring bookmarks]] article to backup the bookmarks to a json file which you can email, and then restore those onto the other computer.
If you want to add the bookmarks to the other computer, but still keep the bookmarks that are already on the other computer, you need to export them to an html file. To do that see [[Exporting bookmarks to an HTML file]]. You can email the html file, and import it to the other computer, for details see [[Importing Bookmarks from an HTML File]].

How can I save a bookmark in more than one location?

In previous versions, I could save a bookmark in one folder, and again in another. This option seems to have disappeared with 29.0. The reference articles don't outline how to do this.
Does anyone have a trick up their sleeve that will let us do this?
I know that I should perhaps be using tags, but I have thousands of bookmarks filed and can't start a new procedure now with a major project launch coming up.

hello allen, in the bookmark library you can copy and paste bookmarks into multiple locations. however as you have said, tags are probably a far more efficient way to organize your bookmarks...

How can I move App Tabs to the bottom, where the other bookmark toolbars are? Or, how can I put my bookmark toolbars in two rows and forget the App Tabs?

I have several bookmarks on my toolbar, and my most often used ended up in a pull-down menu, which is annoying. I tried to click and drag them onto the menu bar, because there was room for more icons, but they won't budge. Nothing under "Toolbars" was helpful. Help would tell me to right click on my toolbar and then click on "Customize"...which didn't come up as an option. I would really like all my toolbar bookmarks (I only have about 10) to be visible on the actual toolbar, not hidden away in a small pulldown tab.
There is a plug-in that enables you to put bookmarks in two rows on your toolbars, but it is not compatible with my version of FF (7.0.1).
App Tabs are cute, but I don't like them on top where they take up room where I have the tabs for various websites open (I usually have several open at a time). App Tabs are fixed and don't scroll over like website tabs, which is extremely annoying, and hence why I 1)would like to move them to the bottom of the toolbar or 2)be able to display all my bookmarked toolbars --which is what I prefer.
BTW, I have Windows 7.

App tabs are special tabs and are always displayed at the left end of the tab bar.
You can place all bookmarks that you want to see on the Bookmarks Toolbar in the Bookmarks Toolbar folder. 
You can do that in the side bar or the Bookmarks manager if you can't do it on the Bookmarks Toolbar. 
Most Visited is a special (smart) folder that shows websites that you've visited and that aren't necessarily bookmarks, so you can't drag them on the bookmarks toolbar unless you first bookmark them. You can do that by opening them in a tab and clicking the star on the location bar twice and choose the Bookmarks Toolbar as the destination folder.

Firefox 4 has converted my Bookmarks toolbar from small ikons only in Firefox 3 (last version) to names only. How can I display it again in small ikons only.

How did you get only the names in Firefox 3.6.x ?
Firefox shows the names and icons by default on the Bookmarks Toolbar.
Did you have an extension or did you use code in userChrome.css to change that behavior?

Docs&settings only shows bookmarks from Int Explorer used previously, not Moxilla. How can I save the bookmarks which are shown correctly when using MF?

I want to save my bookmarks as I have done periodically since 2000 using Xp.
For copying to F drive or USB, procedure is open C drive, Documents and settings, my name, Favorites
I have hundreds of sorted bookmarks which I update fairly often.
Changed to MF about five years ago.
It looks like nothing has been added to the Favorites within Documents and Settings since then - all have the blue Int. Explorer logo, none in Moxilla colours.
I was unaware of this as all bookmarks are shown correctly to left of desktop.

There are three basic options
#You can backup the bookmarks in a form that Firefox can use. And these include any tags with them. See [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]]
#Firefox stores History in the same database: '''places.sqlite'' the whole of that or even the whole of the profile may be backed up if necessary. See [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]

CARE if you restore bookmarks from a backup it overwrites your existing bookmarks so always back them up manually before doing any restore.
Firefox creates its own library of bookmarks. It is possible to add HTML files from IE to these. You will not be able to make sense of Firefox's .json or .sqlite files other than by allowing them to be used within Firefox. The HTML files may probably be opened directly by Firefox or some other programs such as Word Processors.

Firefox Android, how can I save a bookmark to one of my desktop bookmark folders?

On Firefox in Android I can see all of my desktop bookmark folders.
I want to be able to bookmark a site and to save that bookmark in one of my desktop bookmark folders rather than the 'Mobile Bookmarks' folder.
Is this possible?
If not is it an issue with Firefox that could be addressed with an add-on, or is it an issue with Android?

It is not possible. It should be possible to find the bookmark by typing a few letters of the name or URL of the bookmark.

That is not possible.
Firefox only has one Bookmarks Toolbar item that can hold the bookmarks.
So you can only use an extension that supports multiple bookmarks rows to add an extra row if the current last one gets filled up.
The best workaround is probably to create bookmarks folders on the bookmarks toolbar and open those to access each category.

How can i save every bookmark on a usb key individually,so when i connect it i click the link,and voila

so...what i want to do,is,save all my bookmark or link,on a usb key,cause i have too much,but i need it to be all individual...not like the json export format,because like that,it's kind of like 1 file zipped all the link together...i need to be able to when a connect my usb key,i click the link and it load in firefox...as exemple...in my bookmarks folder...i have about an hundred and more files,and in each of them a hundred or so of links...so is there a way to do that,maybe with another program...i want to erase the one i have in my firefox to put them all on the usb key...thx in advance,waiting for your answers...and i have window 7

hi...and thx for yours time and answers...i tried what you guys said,and it does not work for me....it work but not all of them...saying some error happens....i really have to much...i tried to do folder by folder,but that does not work either,,,it zipped the total of the link instead of the folder selected....i saw that i can transfer them one by one into a new folder on my disk...but one by one gonna be a hella long thing to do....but work...i tried the keyboard shortcuts...i can select all of them but not copy them into the new folder on my disk....any idea following that....i really just want to put them all on my usb key...and not use the firefox application to store then on firefox web...thx in advance
