How can I scroll around an image if its zoomed out?

Hey guys, quick one for you.
I have no problem using the hand tool/spacebar to scroll around an image when zoomed into it, but as soon as I can see the whole thing I can't scroll around anymore and its just locked to the center
I am a After Effects user so I find this a bit annoying that I can't do this, so I figure there MUST be a setting somewhere I could change to enable it.

I've noticed your usual vitriol toward people having simple questions has ramped up about 200% since the advent of Jive, Buko. Maybe you need to disengage, or neck some holy fermented blue agave juice and take a nap?
I see the question as perfectly cromulent, and I use the suggestion I've given quite often. Apparently, a good reason why anyone would want to do that has escaped you, and it's made you even crankier than usual. So you react by giving the gift of vile condescension instead of just ShuttingTFU and letting someone else handle it. (Next time you blast Ramon for the same thing, take a look at your own behavior). And apparently, it's not enough for you to just accept that the way someone else wants to work is different than your workdflow, or is something that never even occurred to you. Maybe some folks just want an answer to their question, and secretly wish you'd shove your bad attitude up your [asterisk-substituted name for your lower-dorsal body opening]. Of course, some folks are just too polite, or they're new visitors here and won't say that to you because they don't know the legacy players and behaviors here. But I'm not either of those things, and I will. Because if you can dish it out, surely you can take it, right? RIGHT!?!?
Now...why do I think the question is worth answering? Sometimes I want to be able to have an entire smallish image visible at 100% magnification in order to view it as it will appear in its final destination. AND I want to do some work on it while keeping all my currently-open Palettes visible; maybe I want to move my image out of the way of a big dialogue box I've called up. (I'm only working on one monitor...sorry if that makes your hardened jaw drop down to your chest).
In Single-Window made mode I'd have to grab and move the whole window, but I can't do that if I have a big dialogue window open. In full screen mode I can scroll around and see all parts of that image at 100% without having to Tab my palettes to their hidden state, or shove my open dialogue nearly off-screen.

How can I have a browser image that scrolls with images on top of it scrolling in tandem - so the background is a hexagon pattern with small images inside some hexagons and I want them all to be scrollable as a user uses the browser scroll bars. At the moment the background image jumps when I preview so the small hexagons all become out of alignment. Any tips appreciated. I have browser image set to tile - pinned at the middle and set to scrolling - the small images are not pinned -

Thanks for your answer - The images on the top layer are also links and change to show they're links on rollover - so I wanted to keep them as separate graphics - and it works to a point but when I preview the page in a browser the tiled browser image always moves no matter how I pin it and then everything becomes unaligned. Any further suggestions appreciated.

How can I exchange all the images in a slide show with new ones

I have 18 slide shows each is a different competition for our camera club. How can I exchange all the images from each slide show with new images as our club competitions commence? I am reluctant to just delete the slide show because I will have set it all back up. I want to leave the size shape and format of the show as is, but just exchange all of the current images with new ones. I am hoping there is a quick way to delete and replace all images for each show? Each slide show has around 40 images and I have 18 shows

1. Activate "thumbnails" in the configuration panel
2. Select one Thumbnail.
3. Rightclick and choose "Select same"
4. Press "backspace"
5. Open the configuration panel and load the new images.

A very straight forward question I think. I just never did it before. Anyone knows of a fast technique of doing this? I have to make 70+ images this way. Could it be scripted?

You'll need to be more specific. Placing a single image on one spread is drop-dead simple. File > Place, choose file, click (or click-and-drag) to place, scale and position as desired. You can ask about scripting in the
scripting forum.
You might not need to script this to get efficient use of time. Make a picture frame on the master spread and then insert 140 pages (70 2-page spreads) based on that master. File > Place, and select all 70 files. (They need to be in one folder. Click on the top file, scroll down, lick on the bottom file.) Zoom out and click once on each spread to place each image. Should work faster that writing, testing, debugging, and running a script.

If you have an image that you want to crop for insertion in a Pages document, you can use a program like GIMP to edit the image.

A really simple method is to use the quick selection tool to outline a person or object in a photo. Holding down the alt key changes the tool action from plus to minus - so you can perfect your selection as you go along (e.g. if you accidentally select part of the background)
When you are happy with your selection of the person or object press Ctrl+J - this will automatically create a new transparent layer with your selection as shown by the checkerboard background.
You can then add any other picture or background - here I’ve used a simple green background to illustrate the point by selecting Layer > New Fill Layer > Solid Color
I then clicked on the transparent layer in the layer pallet and dragged it to the top - to reveal the green background behind my person selection.
I then selected the hand tool and the bounding box appeared - by holding down the shift key you can drag the corner handles or sides of the bounding box to resize and then click the green checkmark to confirm OK. You can then drag the image to any position in the frame of your chosen background. Save as PSD to keep your layers for later or click Layer > Flatten Image to save as Jpeg.

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Did you try browsing your backups in the Finder ? That is, do not go and "Enter Time Machine". Instead, navigate to your Time Machine backup via Finder and then manually go to the time period (by folder name) you are looking for ... when you find your Aperture library you can then "Show Package Contents" and find the Master you are looking for.

Thanks for you reply. When I paint, I bring up the photo as you suggested. I begin painting. After about 10 minutes or so, the photo goes blank. And, I have to start the process over again to get that same photo. It interrupts the painting process. I think it goes blank due to a sleep function. You need to have the disc in order to create disk image of snow leopard installer disc. What did your machine ship with? If something later than SL, then why? If earlier, then you can buy the SL installer disc and make the disk image.
