How can I see who has accessed my files?

I was recently on an open network and saw that a few of my files had been accessed. Is there a way I can see who?

Well, it sounds like you have security problems, but the short answer to your original question is no, it's not possible to tell who accessed the files. Disable file sharing unless you really need it. If you do need it, disable guest access. When you're on an untrusted network, definitely disable it, or activate the Firewall and block all incoming connections.

  • Can't see who has replied to the thread in the forum, its pointess?

What's the point in creating a system where you can't see who has replied to the thread? Its absolutely F**CKING pointless? Does anyone at Adobe have any brains or are they all sitting with their heads up their backsides?
Surely before you release such garbage you test for these very simple issues, right?
osgood_(NOT M Golding) If anyone at Adobe is monitoring this please get my screen named changed to what it was previously as well.

It needs a 'latest reply' on the posted list page like the old version otherwise you have no idea if anyone has replied to the post or not without opening it.

The line below is not that necessary in the order of priority, which for all intense and purposes is quite useless. I don't really care about how long ago something was posted or where it was posted but an indication to show 'updated' posts and by who is vital.

Why do we even need 'Dreamweaver support forum'. We already know that's where we are! I guess a selection of posts from other forums may appear in a 'general' postings list somewhere, but who really cares - if I'm asking a question related to DW that's the forum I'm going to, not a general list as I don't care a monkey knackers what's been posted in Fireworks or InDesign or Illustrator. If I did I'd go to those forums.
If you are tracking several postings it is going to become hugely annoying for both the person who has asked the question and the people helping the original poster as many replies will potentially go unnoticed and not resolved.
And what's with the silly horizontal scroll bar being created for long lines of text? That's annoying too.
Plenty of teething issue you need to get your head around over the next few weeks.

  • When downloading is complete, I can not see, run, nor access the file; it only appears in the "Downloads" window (and not the specified folder) and the only options permitted are to delete it, or to go to the download web site; what's blocking it?

My PC's OS is 'MS Windows Vista Home Premium'. As my initil question states: When downloading, after the download completes, I can not see, run, nor access the file in it's designated folder. The download only appears in the "Downloads" window and the only "Right Click" options permitted are to "Remove From List", "Select All", & "Copy Download Link" I also can not double click to run it. What's blocking it?
I have a similar problem when accessing .zip files that are attachments to my emails. Here, however, I can place the file in a designated folder, however, the .zip file and it's compressed content files are file-typed as "FireFox Document" and I get permissions errors when running an unzip tool.
Why are my download files being quarantined ??? Is there a security setting option I need to change???
To get around this, I'm using IE to download and install these files, but switching back & forth between FireFox & IE is a real pain.

It's your anti-virus not working correctly while scanning. You can turn off the option to scan in Firefox's '''about:config''' by filtering for '''browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone''' and double-clicking that line to change the value to '''false'''

  • Can I see who has tried to log in to my computer?

Is there a way to see who has attempted to log into my account, and what username/password combinations they tried? I found that someone has tried to Google my password hint, and I'm wondering if they tried to access my account.

    Hi John
If you launch terminal found in /Applications/Utilities and issue this command:
    last
The output can be quite long. Last will list the sessions of users, ttys, and hosts, in reverse time order. Each line of output contains the user name, the tty from which the session was conducted, any hostname, the start and stop times for the session, and the duration of the session. Last will also show if there has been a crash or a shutdown. Why is this useful? If you know roughly when you were using the computer and eliminate those sessions then what is left is definite proof of someone else using the account to login. You can also limit the output to a specified amount of lines by adding the -n arguement, for example:
    last -20
will output the last 20 log on attempts. You can also consult system.log as this will also log user activity as well as failed log on attempts. You can consult system.log using Console again found in /Applications/Utilities but seeing as you are in terminal anyway just issue this command:
    tail -n /var/log/system.log
again the -n argument can be used to limit system.log to a specified amount of output (20 or 30 is a good number) otherwise the output is quite large.
    Hope this helps – Tony

  • How can I see what has been backed up

After doing a category BU to my WD Passport Ultra, how can I see what was backed up? The Smartware tells me that what I selected was done. But how and where can I confirm this? Thanksgrowlybear

Simplest way is to open the drive in Windows Explorer, then in the root you should find a folder WD Smartware.stor. Within that should be a folder for each device you've backed up, and within that a folder for each drive on that device that you've backed up. Within those drive folders you should find the files/folders that have been backed up from that particular drive. You can look through them in the same way that you look through the files/folders on your actual drive itself, and confirm that everything is there that you expect to be.

  • How can you tell who has FaceTime?

My brother called me on FaceTime a couple of weeks ago. He said that he'd "opened FaceTime, saw you were on and figured I'd say hi." How could I tell who has FaceTime and who doesn't, and how someone who has it is "on"?
I have Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5, as well as iPod Touch 6.1.5

Suddenly there are people sharing my library,
    How do you know?
but they do not show up under "Shared" on my side bar.
That shows libraries that others are sharing. It does not show who is connected to yours.
There's an AppleScript I saw somewhere to show who is connected to your shared iTunes library.
    Try www.dougscripts.com

I have purchased a Palm LifeDrive with with WiFi capability. I have not been able to get the Blazer browser to connect to the internet. I have configured the Palm device correctly it appears. The Palm can detect a signal from the Airport network (the indicator bar is green and at full strength). Access control has been granted to the LifeDrive using the Airport Admin Utility. I have also set the security to WEP (5 figures) on both the Airport network and the Palm LifeDrive to have the same password. I know that the Blazer browser that comes with the Palm device works. I was at a friends home where he has a wireless Verizon network for his Macs. The question is, has anyone been able to get a Palm device with WiFi to work on an Airport network? How does one set up the network and the device to communicate? The Palm One site was not helpfu

  • My college kids charge on my credit card- how can I see who is charging what?Unlike all other vendors, you can't get info from apple 800 number on the charge

how can I find out what my college kids are buying on itunes. It is charged to my credit card number but the 800 number given to the credit card company takes me to the web site. I can only see purchases with my own account. Short of cutting off apple as a vendor is there a way to see this? Is there a way to look up purchases by the order number?

    Hello Heidi;
Are these college kids your kids, or have you allowed details of your credit card to be more freely available?   I can't believe the latter ... but who knows.
Anyhow; surely the purchases you see are what has been charged to your account.   Assuming you know which of these are yours, the balance has to be that made by the 'College kids'.
Or is there more to this than meets the eye?
