How can I set my phone to delete messages after a certain period of time? 6 months, 1 year??? It is taking up over 4GB on my phone. I don't want to delete everything just the oldest ones.
If you update to iOS 8, you can select that in Settings>Messages>Keep Message and then select your option. If you don't update to iOS 8, you'll need to do it manually.

This may seem ironic but if you are looking for something the best way to find it is by searching Google. For instance Googling "google map directions" will send you to referenced page. for a sub-$20 app I find it hard to believe you find it hard to believe Apple hasn't integrated this feature into the software.

You can disassociate your phone number with your iMessages/Apple ID by turning off iMessages. Go to Settings -> iMessages -> Turn off iMessages. Wait a couple of hour to fully have your number unregistered with iMessages.

Only the carrier an iPhone was sold as carrier locked with can officially unlock the iPhone. It is my understanding that Softbank in Japan does not unlock iPhones.

Use the same ID in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive on both devices and have people use that ID. Your iPhone number would be a good choice.

All of my devices seem to be connected... It's messages that I want to turn off. I don't want to receive any messages on anything except my daughters iPod that are sent to my Apple ID. Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).

Wifi will not turn back on in the morning after being turned off all night, it use to work for years. Is it the new 7.1 ?
Yes that what I mean, after the phone has been turned off all night, when I turn it back on the morning the wifi will not turn on by itself. Eventually by turning off and on the main phone switch and the wifi in settings it sometimes come back on! Then I'm ok for the rest of the day even when I leave the house and come back it's ok. Only first thing in the morning, strange that it doesn't wake up like it use too.

The music sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put everything back. -

How Can I Set Photoshop to Default Open the Most Recent Folder
Lately, Photoshop CC always opens a default folder-which is several clicks away from the folder I am using. How do I set it to default to the most recent open folder when I click "OPEN" ?
They would seem to be, but it's possible that they were released separately in the iTunes Store. Some apps are different but named the same (Angry Birds being a case in point). Not having any of those apps I can't say with any certainty. It's definitely not normal for iTunes to keep older versions.
If you're still on Mac OS X 10.5.6 as your profile indicates, update to 10.5.8 and the latest version of iTunes and see if that makes any difference.

If it is in recovery mode, there is nothing to do but restore. It is too late to salvage data on the device.
