How can I share an Apple ID with my wife or Can I use one Apple ID for two iPhones?
My wife got her iPhone 4 before I got my iPhone 4s. To make things easier, I allowed her to use my Apple ID and iTunes to sync/backup her iPhone. Now that I have an iPhone 4s... I would like to keep sharing the Apple ID and its associated content (be it apps, music, etc) but I would like our contacts and other individuals items to be kept separate. What is the best solution for this situation? Ultimately I want to avoid having to make yet another iTunes account/Apple ID and because we are married we share everything already. Thanks. I was afraid it would be something like that. I bought it off my NIH grant from Apple, so there is no problem proving ownership. Since I can easily live without iPhoto and iMovie on that computer, I probably won't bother, unless it prevents me from updating the OS when 10.9 comes out. The strange thing is I can update stuff like Xcode (which I absolutely need) without a problem. It appears to be just the apps that Apple both sells and provides with a new computer

It is not advisable to follow the above suggested method. The following will do what you want without complications.
1. On your Mac, go to http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mm6b1a9479 and follow the instructions to share a calendar privately. If you have more than one calendar you want to share you will have to do each individually. You can choose whether she is able to edit it or whether it should be read-only.
2. If your wife does not have an iCloud account she will need to obtain one. When you share a calendar and nominate her to access it she will receive and email. All she has to do is to open the email and click 'Join Calendar'. This will add the calendar to her Calendar app on all devices and on icloud.com without affecting any other data. Again, this will have to be done individually if more than one calendar is involved. -

Can I share that music collection with my wife so she can play that with her iphone? Even though she has a different Apple ID from me?Her iPhone will need to be set up to iTunes Match using your Apple ID to be able to share music via iTunes Match. Otherwise you'll have to download the music to your computer and then copy those tracks into her iTunes library, assuming hers is separate.

You have to all be signed into the same Apple ID and on the same WiFi network, but yes you can do it. You have to sign into her Apple ID on your iPad in the store settings.

My family has an imac where we have a family photo library in iphoto. The iphoto library is under my wife's profile. My wife and I each have an iphone 4S. I'd like all the photos my wife and I take on our iphones to automatically upload to the iphoto library on my wife's imac account. I've tried a few different ways of doing this and none of them are ideal.
My current solution works, but has some unwanted side effects. Currently, my wife and I use the same main icloud account on our iphones. This would be the perfect solution if it didn't take up the same icloud storage (among other issues).
It'd be nice if you could have 2 photo streams linked to the same iphoto library on a mac. This way both my wife's photo stream and my photo stream would downloand to the same iphoto library. It doesn't appear that iphoto for mac allows this.
I realize I could do this the old fashioned way (outside of photo stream). But, it seems as though there should be a solution that works automatically.
Could there be a solution creating a shared photo stream on my iphone and sharing this photo stream with my wife? I've looked into this but can't see how it would work automatically. It looks like you have to manually add photos to a shared photo stream. I'd like the shared photo stream to update itself to include all photos I take.
Does anybody have a simple solution for this problem?There is not (yet) an easy solution to use an an iPhoto library with two separate My Photo streams.
It might be easier to take the family photo library out of your wife's account and move it to a shared location, so boh of you can maintain it, see:

This way, both of you could download automatically to My Photo Straem and your private iPhoto Libary, remove the worst pictures, and then export only the best shots to the shared library. This will make the shared library smaller and at the same time create a backup of the best pictures, and it will ensure that your family will never see a potentially embarrassing photo. Sharing My Photo Stream is really dangerous, because each and any picture you take will be added the PhotoStream, before you can delete it.
As you may have seen at Apple's WWDC keynote presentation the new MacOS X Maverick will bring more sharing options for Photo Streams: Watch the keynote
You may want to wait for the next software generation before doing any major reorgansition.

I am planning on locating both the catalog and photos in the same shared folder, accessible on a home network with two computers. Only one person at a time will be using it, so we should both see the same catalog structure. I've already given general tags to the photos, but my wife wants to add more detailed sub groups and tags. After reading the license agreement with Adobe, it looks like I can put the same PSE8 on both home computers, so I think the catalog sharing should work. I'll give it a try to see.
