How can I share or merge multiple iTunes libraries?

We have three different Apple ID's using iTunes on a single computer.  How can we make the purchases on each of those separate iTunes accounts be accessable to the others so we can share music and app purchases?

I highly suggest you do NOT use the same AppleID for iTunes and devices.

Create new IDs for each by:
Create a NEW account using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
    Use that Id only for:
    - Settings>Messages>Send and receive and sign out your ID and sign into the new one. Make sure that only that ID email address is listed.
    - Settings>FaceTime sign out of your ID and sign into the new . Make sure that under You can be reached at only the new ID email address is listed
    - Settings>iCloud and sign out and sign in with the new one
Continue to the one one common ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores. That is what controls purchases.

I have a pretty long (45 minutes) video/slide show with mostly pictures and a very few short video clips.  Every time I try to share this movie to itunes so I can publish it, I get a message that iMovie has quit unexpectedly.  Can anyone help?

  • How can I share Catalog with multiple users?

    I have Mac OSX 10.7.5
The catalog exists on a shared LOCAL folder that other users have read-write access to
The catalog works fine for the 1st user (no issues viewing, tagging, or updating photos & repairing it yields no issues)
However when I try to open this catalog with any other user I receive an error that the catalog may be corrupt and therefore cannot be opened...
Has anyone been able to share their catalog with multiple users on a Mac?
    thanks
    -Jay

If anyone runs into the same issue - I figured out why it wasn't working for me. Turns out it was actually an issue with folder permissions.
Despite the catalog being in a shared folder that all users can read/write to - Macs apparently don't understand inheritance & I needed to set the same read/write access to every sub-folder (the catalog folder & all of it's sub folders) as well.
    This fixed my issue.
The Catalog is now shared between multiple users on the local drive with all the photos/videos stored on a NAS drive.

  • How can i share files across multiple user accounts?

I have four user accounts on the same iMac and I'd like to be able to view the files within each account.  When I try access one of the other three accounts through Finder, the folders have red minus signs on them.  If I try to open one, I get an error message about not have the right authorities.  However, I've given all four user accounts administrator access.  Thanks.

Thanks for the response.  Do I change the rights by opening the folder, clicking "Get Info" and chaning the permissions to "write and read?"  If so, I did that.  Is there anything else I need to do?

  • How do I share music between 2 iTunes libraries on the same computer?

I have 1 iTunes account,1 laptop and 2 iPods that are each sync'd to their own library.  How do copy music from library 1 to library 2?

Home sharing is and was on in itunes in both users.  I get different music in each itunes but they are both logged in to the same apple ID.  I would have thought the exact same library would pop up.  Why woudl it be otherwise?  Strange.

  • Merging multiple iTunes libraries

I know a few people have asked about this and indeed I find myself having to do the same thing. I came across TuneRanger (http://www.acertant.com/web/tuneranger/default.htm) which seems like it will do the job.
I was wondering if anybody had used this app and had any comments or advice.
    Thanks

It does not work in Leopard. In Tiger it was good. One drawback is it does not synchronize all file kinds. For me it synchronized nearly all of my files except for a few movie and video files. I really hope they get a Leopard compatible version out soon.

  • How can i share my ITunes library with 2 IPhones?

My wife and i each have administrator rights on our accounts and both have an IPhone 3G. How can i share the single ITunes library on our MacBook so that the music is synced when we connect our IPhones.
I have checked other posts but to no avail.
    Thanks

Drag your \Music\iTunes\ folder to the Shared directory. In the Finder, right click - get info.
Go to *Sharing & Permissions* tab and make sure everyone has Read/Write permissions and click the Gear and *Apply to enclosed items*.
    Hold Option and launch iTunes.
Select *Choose library* and select the _iTunes library file_ in the \Shared\iTunes\ folder.
Log out and your wife logs in.
    Hold Option and launch iTunes.
Select *Choose library* and select the _iTunes library file_ in the \Shared\iTunes\ folder.
If hse has music in her iTunes library that was not in your , sh eFile -> Add to library and select those items in her \Music\iTunes\iTunes media folder.
Then she can delete \Music\iTunes\ folder.

  • How can I share my iTunes library with 2 iTunes accounts?

How can I share my iTunes library between me and my wife?
I do not want to set-up 2 seperate accounts on my mac. Do not want to do home sharing or anything like this.
I just would like to connect my iPad to ONE itunes library and at the same time connect my wifes iPad to the SAME itunes library. Can this be done? How? Thanks! Maybe the answer is something really easy like "just connect both to the computer and sync them".
    Thanks!

Plug them in and use them.
That is all you need to do.
In the answer from Apple I do not find anything about how the 2 exisiting iTunes accounts will be handled.
    They will be handled fine.
All purchases from both iTunes accounts can be sync'd to both/either iPads with no problem.
I have three iTunes accounts (me and two daughters), 3 iPhones, an iPad and a few iPods.
Any/all content can be sync'd to any device, no problems.

I assume you have different iTunes collections on different PC's, or on different logins on the same PC?  If that's the case then just enable "Home Sharing" in each iTunes using the SAME iTunes username and password as you enabled home sharing on the Apple TV with. The account used for home sharing is NOT the same as the account used to access the iTunes store, so as long as you use the same account (pick one, doesn't matter which) then you should see both of yor iTunes libraries on the Apple TV. Note - each iTunes has ti be running in order for the Apple TV to see the library.
Here's some details on how to do it:

Thank you Joe - I tried this but it's only showing a teensy amount of music - the stuff on the second users account as opposed to the giagntic library on the 'main' account. I actually went to a Genius Bar and they said that apple doesn't really want you to share music between accounts - parents don't want to hear their kids music etc. Which seemed strange, but it might be the case sadly   Thanks anyway!
