How can I "share" or "move" iPhoto content between two acounts on PowerBook

I share my PowerBook with my wife and we both have separate accounts. Problem is that all iPhoto content and iTunes content is on "my" account and she is having to switch from her account to mine in order to utilize content. I rarely use both applications so I would like to know if one of the following solutions exist:
1. can we create one database that allows both of these applications to effectively "share" the same content? So, for example, my wife could download photos from her account as from my account that would go into one single database. (without taking up 2x the memory)? Would like to know if the same solution can be applied to iTunes.
2. if no solution for option 1 exisits, can I somehow "migrate" all the iPhoto/iTunes content from my account to my wife's account?
One idea I have had is to simply synch our iPod on my wife's account. Theoretically, the iPod has all of the iTunes and iPhoto content and should synch up on my wife's account, right? I could then delete the same content from my account and then my wife could use these applications from her account. Is this possible?
Thanks,
Robert

do I understand you correctly that if I simply "import" the "Album" folder
containing our photos
I'm not sure I know what you mean by "import the album folder". If you consult iPhoto Help, you'll see that albums (or album folders) contain no actual photos. I used the terms "Export" and "Import" because those menu options are how you get photos out of and in to an iPhoto database. The alternative is to move (or copy) an iPhoto database (see the various iPhoto Help topics under "photo library basics").
iPhoto was designed as a "personal" photo organizer -- it's not designed to be a multi-user database or a collaborative tool. If you want two different accounts to access the same iPhoto Library folder, then you need to put it somewhere where both accounts have access -- either an external drive (or partition) or one account's Public folder. You'll have to sort out your own collaborative conflicts, should any occur.

  • How can I share a movie with my boyfriend?

I have bought a movie on iTunes using my Apple ID and have watched it on my iPad.  A couple of questions about sharing...
Firstly, can we watch my movie on his Mac? My iPad is assigned to my laptop back home, and he has his own iTunes set up on his MacBook Pro which we have with us on holiday.
Secondly can he watch my movie on his iPad?  His iPad is assigned to his Mac using his Apple ID.
    Thanks very much!

Purchased movies are intended for your own use only.
In order to do what you want he would have not only to sign into your account in iTunes but also authorize his computer for use with purchased items.
However once he has done this he cannot change back to authorizing it for his own account for 90 days:

  • How can I share a large iPhoto '11 library on multiple computers (I am the user on all) through iCloud?

I have three residences, and in each I have an iMac and a MacBook Pro (sixe devices in total, I do not like carrying computers through airports :-)) and I have an iPhoto '11 Library with 3,000 photos+.  I know I can use Photo Stream to access recent photos via iCloud from these multiple devices.  My question is:  can I create a single iPhoto library stores in iCloud so that all my devices can in fact sync their libraries through iCloud?

    No
That is not a feature of iPhoto or iCloud

  • How do I share my iTunes music folder between two macs?

I am running an iMac and a Mac mini on a home network. I want to have both macs use the same music folder, so that I can rip, burn, update, and synch from either computer. My music folder is located on my Mac mini in the usual location.
I went to preferences/advanced on my iMac and changed the location of the music folder to point it to the folder on the mac mini. It then said it was updating the library. I still can't see all of the music that is my folder on the mini, from the iMac.
    What am I doing wrong?

No, it's simpler, epecially if iTunes manages your music for you (default).
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
do not confuse moving your whole folder and library with moving just media files as in
iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Media folder - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1449
Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the whole iTunes folder and all its subfolders and files intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

  • How can I share my library (apps, songs) between 2 computers

    Hello!
    Well, here are my "problems":
    1) Sharing libraries
2 Macs (1 desktop and 1 macbook), Apple TV (3rd gen), iPad, iPhone and Time Capsule (2 tb).
My library (apps, songs) is in the macbook. I would like to share that library between macbook and iMac. So if I buy an app in the macbook, it will appear in the iMac. That would be great to sync the iPhone/iPad in any computer.
    Is that possible?
    2) Pictures / Movies (home-made movies)
I put all my pictures/movies in a folder in the Time Machine. Is it possible to share it with the Apple TV? Something like creating a library in iPhoto or something like that?
    Thanks a lot!!!!!!!
    Mauricio

    And to add further,
If the printer connected to your wireless network, you may perform a full installation over the network.
As long as your Windows 7 desktop connected to your router by ethernet cable, it should be able to communicate with the printer.
Simply install the Full software for network connection.
Than you will get any feature from both of the PCs and each one will not be depands on the other..

  • How can I set up a wireless network between two Mac Mini's (media centres)?

I've just received my second mac mini (core duo, 1.83, 1 Gb ram)and want to set up a wireless network to link this with my original mac mini (PPC 1.42, 512MB) and my Belkin wireless router (g std).
I'm using both as media centres in different rooms and want to keep all my media (films, photo's, music etc.) on one mini (connected to a 640GB external drive) and access it over the wireless network. Sort of a more felxible Apple TV setup??
I've got the wireless network working no problems with both mini's connected to the internet over the network but I'm stuck at how I get the two mini's to see each other. I've tried "the Missing Manual" and these forums but no success so far.
I know it can be done but would really appreciate any suggestions/directions on what to do?
    Thanks in advance<<br>

  • How can I work out the Total Uptime between two points?

I need to find the TOTAL uptime between a certain date and now (need to separate for an electricity bill). Can someone help me with a script or something?
    Thanks

I'm confused as to what you are looking for if uptime is not it.
I need to find out how long it has been powered on from the 6th August 2014 to now. Any ideas?
If the system has been rebooted in that time then you might be able to go back into the log files and as Mark Jalbert wrote look for the times the system was shutdown and then booted and get a rough figure that way. But of course this requires that the log files since August are still available.
Of course what the system was booted there is no guarantee all external peripherals were also on and when the system was shutdown there is no guarantee that all the peripherals were turned off so at best you are getting a rough estimate.

  • How can I get the difference of  tables between two oracle server?

I want to know what is difference in tables define between the two oracle servers.
give me a method or a step or a sql script or a tool to compare these two set of tables.
    Edited by: Oracle-Sunmeng on Aug 1, 2012 6:36 PM

    Hi Sunmeng,
Does Database Link exists between Databases ??
If I am Clear, Are you looking Something like this.
To Identify the tables difference, you can query the USER_TAB_COLUMNS view.
    SELECT DISTINCT table_name, 'User1' AS user_table
               FROM user_tab_columns
    UNION ALL
    SELECT DISTINCT table_name, 'User2' AS user_table
               FROM user_tab_columns@dblink
ORDER BY 1;Which gets us all the Tables available in Both User. where you can filter based on what
    you require.
    Similary, you for column difference
    SELECT   table_name, column_name, 'User1' AS user_table
        FROM user_tab_columns
    UNION ALL
    SELECT   table_name, column_name, 'User2' AS user_table
        FROM user_tab_columns@dblink
ORDER BY 1;If you need to count the no of columns in both Tables of different databases. Then try this,
    SELECT table_name, 'User1' user_name,
           (SELECT MAX (column_id)
              FROM user_tab_columns a
             WHERE a.table_name = b.table_name) colno
      FROM user_tables b
    UNION ALL
    SELECT table_name, 'User2' user_name,
           (SELECT MAX (column_id)
              FROM user_tab_columns@dblink a
             WHERE a.table_name = b.table_name) colno
FROM user_tables@dblink b;And, what the Columns in both tables may be same but, if datatype and length of column differs ?????

  • I have windows, one computer but multi users. home sharing is on. how can i share music between users on one computer?

I have windows.  One computer but multi users.  Home sharing is on. 2 apple accounts-1 per user. 4 devices-2 iphones and 2 ipods per user.  How can we share music  on one computer between 2 users?

Hi Justinece, I've solved the problem in this way:
In my wife user profile I've set in itunes settings/advanced the path to my music library: /Users/"MY NAME"/Music/iTunes/Itunes media.
Than, from my wife profile using my administrator user and password I've set the "read/write" privileges on the above mentioned folder.
Finally I've added the folder in my wife's library taking care to not duplicate it ( leave blank the flag in itunes setting/advanced).
I really don't understand what's the use of home sharing...

  • Sharing iPhoto Library between Two User Accounts

Is there any way to fully share a single iPhoto library between two user accounts on one machine (iMac 2.0GHz dual core Intel, 10.5.1, iPhoto '08), without using an external drive (because I don't have one)? By share, I mean each user has full rights and priveledges to the entire library, regardless of who uploaded the pics. Holding down the option key on iPhoto startup does not work because my wife can't access the pics I loaded even though she's pointing to the shared library in a shared folder.

If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc. then:
    Quit iPhoto in both accounts
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to an external HD set to ignore permissions. *You could also use a dmg*.
(Some people have had success putting the library in the Users/ Shared folder. If you do this make sure the file permissions are set to allow read/write access to everyone. But that's unlikely to work on 10.5 because of the way that the permissions have changed with the new OS.)
In each account in turn: Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue, select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new library location. From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.
    Regards
    TD
